Tribal Council
- Tom was voted out 5-2.
- Karishma is the only original Lairo member to vote for Tom in this episode.
- The only tribal council Karishma attended where she didn’t get any votes was the first one.
- Dean has voted for her three times in a row.
- Chelsea is the only original Lairo woman to vote for her so far.
- Tom is the first Canadian to play Survivor.
- Todd Herzog was born in the US but he was also a Canadian citizen.
- After this tribal council, everyone this season has voted at least one person out of the game.
- Janet and Kellee are the only former Vokai members to have 2/2 correct votes so far.
- Jack and Jamal voted for Jason in episode 2.
- Noura was unable to vote during this week’s episode.
- Tom is also the only NHL player to ever play Survivor.
- The only players to receive votes this episode are players that have previously received votes.
- This is the first time it happened this season.
- Tom is the first player named Tom to not make it to the finale in their first season.
- Tom Buchanan made it to the finale in Africa.
- Tom Westman won Palau.
- The only times a Tom hasn’t made it to the finale, they came in 5th place (Tom Buchanan in All-Stars) or were voted out 5th (Tom Westman in Heroes vs. Villains, Tom Laidlaw in Island of the Idols).
- All three players named Tom to play US Survivor were the oldest male on at least one of their starting tribes.
- Tom Buchanan was the oldest male on Boran and Chapera.

- Neither of them interacted with Rob or Sandra (outside of a challenge) as Tom Westman started on the Heroes tribe and was voted out pre-merge, and Tom Laidlaw was never sent to Island of the Idols.
- Both were the oldest players on their starting tribe.

Tribe Swap
- This is the second two-starting tribe season since expansion tribes were introduced where the tribes didn’t swap to three tribes at the first swap of the season.
- The first was Ghost Island.
- Both seasons were orange vs. purple tribes.
- Ghost Island did, however, introduce an expansion tribe, Yanuya, at a second swap later in the pre-merge portion of the game.
- The first was Ghost Island.
- This is the first season since Blood vs. Water where a tribe swap resulted in one tribe having an even number of members from each of the two starting tribes.
- New Galang and New Tadhana each had an even 3:3 split of tribe members from both starting tribes.
- New Vokai has 4 original Lairo and 4 original Vokai members.
- In Kaoh Rong, new Chanloh had two members from each original tribe, but that season started with three tribes.
- Vokai is the 14th tribe to contain an even amount of players from each original starting tribe after a tribe swap.

- This is only the third season to swap with 16 players remaining which resulted in two tribes with 8 tribe members each.

- Jamal, Jack, and Janet all swapped to Lairo.
- Both of the season’s oldest players were swapped to Lairo.
- Janet is 59 and Tom is 60.
- Jason is the only player on new Vokai with any votes against him.
Confessionals
- Karishma had the most confessionals this episode with 6.
- She’s the first person to have the most confessionals in an episode without having gone to Island of the Idols.
- Elizabeth had the least amount of confessionals with 0.
- The top three players with the most confessionals this season are all Asian-American.
- Kellee – 16.
- Karishma & Vince – 14.
- Tom is the first person to be voted out this season who had a 0 confessional episode (episode 4).
- Ronnie, Molly, Vince, and Chelsea had at least 1 confessional in every episode they were in.
- Kellee is the first Asian American woman to be the top confessional giver at any point during a season.
- Aaron, Jamal, Jason, Missy, and Tommy are the only remaining players that haven’t had a 0 confessional episode.
Hidden Immunity Idols/Advantage
- This is the first episode this season where nobody was offered or found a hidden immunity idol.
- Elizabeth had a chance to win a hidden immunity idol in episode 1.
- Chelsea found a hidden immunity idol and Kellee won one in episode 2.
- Vince won a hidden immunity idol in episode 3.
- Jamal found a hidden immunity idol in episode 4.
Island of the Idols
- This was the first episode this season to not have anyone visit the Island of the Idols
- Rob and Sandra were still present at tribal council.
Reward Challenge – “Headlong Fight”
- The name of the challenge is based on the song “Headlong Flight” by the band Rush.
- This challenge was previously used in Millennials vs. Gen X and Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers.
- This was the first separate reward challenge this season.
- The flame puzzle was previously used in Caramoan and Blood vs. Water
Immunity Challenge – “Discography”
- Versions of this challenge have been previously used in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers and David vs. Goliath.
- Both challenges in this episode were previously used in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers
- Both challenges have also only been used in seasons filmed in Fiji.
- Vokai won both challenges this episode.
- Lairo has only won 1 out of 6 challenges this season.

- The fifth episode received 6.82 million viewers and 1.3/6 in the Adults 18-49 Rating/Share.
Episode Title
- The episode title “Don’t Bite the Hand That Feeds” was said by Missy when talking about Dean trying to figure out who orchestrated the blindside of Chelsea in the previous episode.
