Each week Inside Survivor contributor Rob Brodeur will be collecting various Survivor-related statistics and information based on the latest episode of Survivor 48.

Advantages

  • Mary is the third player to successfully play her Shot in the Dark after Jamie in Survivor 44 and Kaleb in Survivor 45.
    • She’s the second player to negate a majority of votes with the Shot in the Dark after Kaleb in Survivor 45.
    • She’s the second player to trigger a revote with her Shot in the Dark play, as the entire vote was nullified.
  • This is the first Survivor season to have a Vote Blocker, Steal a Vote, and Extra Vote present.
  • Vula is the only tribe this season to have two players return from the journey without an advantage.
    • Mary lost her vote in episode 2 and Justin lost his vote in episode 3.

Immunity Challenge – “Blind Leading the Blind”

  • Variations of this challenge were previously used in The Australian Outback, Marquesas, Thailand, The Amazon, All-Stars, Vanuatu (Twice), Guatemala, Fiji, Micronesia, Tocantins, Heroes vs. Villains, Nicaragua, Redemption Island, South Pacific, One World, Cagayan, Worlds Apart, Cambodia, Millennials vs. Gen X, Game Changers, Ghost Island, Island of the Idols, and Survivor 42.
    • Zapatera from Redemption Island and Takali from Millennials vs. Gen X are the only purple tribes to compete in this challenge and lose.
  • Vula is the fourth starting tribe to lose the first three immunity challenges on a three-tribe season after Yanu in Survivor 46, Lulu in Survivor 45, and Matsing in Philippines.
  • Vula is the first green starting tribe to lose the first three challenges in a season.
  • Lagi has won every challenge they’ve competed in so far this season.

Confessionals

  • Mary and Justin had the most confessionals this episode with 8.
  • Chrissy had the lowest number of confessionals with 0.
  • Sai has the most confessionals so far this season with 34.
  • Chrissy has the lowest number of confessionals so far this season with 3.

Tribal Council

  • Justin was voted out 1-0 after a series of tied votes.
    • Round 1: The vote total was 2-0, but both votes against Mary didn’t count due to her successful Shot in the Dark play.
    • Round 2: The vote total was tied 1-1 with Sai voting for Justin and Cedrek voting for Sai.
    • Round 3: The vote total was tied again with Sai voting for Justin and Cedrek voting for Sai.
    • Round 4: Cedrek became the sole vote and voted out Justin.
  • This episode had the most ever rounds of voting at a single tribal council with four.
  • Justin is the third person to be voted out by consensus after a tied vote after Kimmi in Cambodia and Jenny in Survivor 42.
    • Justin is the first man with this distinction.
    • Coincidentally, Jenny was also on a green “V” tribe when this happened, and was voted out in episode 3.
  • This episode is the earliest in a season where a fully nullified vote happened.
    • It’s also tied for the earliest instance of a deadlocked vote which happened in episode 3 of Africa and Survivor 42.
  • Cedrek has voted for everyone in his starting tribe as of this episode.
    • Three of those five votes happened in this episode.
    • This is the earliest that someone has done this in Survivor history.
  • Cedrek is the first person to vote for every member of his tribe during a single tribal council.
  • Cedrek is tied with Shan from Survivor 41 for most votes cast in a single tribal council with four.
  • Survivor 46 is the only new era season where a green tribe didn’t vote someone out on day 7.
    • Survivor 41 – Ua voted out Brad
    • Survivor 42 – Vati voted out Jenny
    • Survivor 44 – Soka voted out Claire
    • Survivor 48 – Vula voted out Justin

Survivor Birthdays

  • This week’s episode aired on the following Survivor player’s birthdays:
    • Grant Mattos – Redemption Island
    • Phillip Sheppard – Redemption Island & Caramoan
      • Coincidentally, both of them started on the same tribe on Redemption Island.
