Next Time On Survivor – Episode 8

Steph Lauw makes her predictions for the next episode!

CBS

Welcome to Season 46’s Next Time On Survivor weekly feature on the Inside Survivor site! If you’re new around here, I’m Steph from sunny, tropical, humid Singapore. This is a tiny space where I give my best attempts at understanding preview trailers and make my predictions for the show’s next episodes.

The NTOS trailer starts off pretty exciting. As the players are looking for Hunter around camp, we realise he’s hiding up a tree. It’s the return of Tony Vlachos’ spy nest! I can’t wait to see what compels Hunter to climb up there—my guess is that it’ll be part of searching for an advantage, as I don’t think Hunter’s that eccentric to employ a spy nest to eavesdrop on his tribemates.

Another part of the trailer brings up the relationship between Q and Tiffany. Q declares, “She broke my rules. I’m a mob boss.” over visuals of Tiffany. Even though Q has been saying, and I think he truly believes so at this juncture, that Tiffany is his closest ally and the person he trusts most to pull into the +1 alliance, I don’t think Tiffany reciprocates at all.

Instead, Tiffany and Kenzie’s relationship feels much stronger and lasting, especially since they are bonding over their annoyance with Q’s bossy, self-indulgent plans. Perhaps Tim’s blindside in the last episode encourages Tiffany to abandon Q and the +1 alliance. It never really felt like a concrete, sustainable plan anyway, but rather a secondary group to fall back on.

Another solid alliance would be Charlie and Maria. The NTOS trailer also previews this as the pair discusses their next moves on the beach. As with my past predictions, I maintain that we’ll see these two go far together. And I think last week just cemented how furtively they’re navigating the tribe.

Finally, we’re shown a scene from tribal council where Jeff says excitedly, “one of the craziest tribals ever. Never seen anything like this.” I wouldn’t read too much into it. I am more inclined to believe it’s an exaggeration meant to hype up the episode in the preview trailers than any truly unique or mind-blowing moment.

If I were to hazard a guess, it’d be something rather unhinged or over the top put forth by a player. This season has given us some wacky personalities like Bhanu. Perhaps we’ll see Venus unabashedly call her fellow players out at tribal council or Q pushing the limit excessively and insisting on his singular way. Another possibility would be Liz and Tevin burning bridges, as we see a rift between them being hinted at in the NTOS trailer. So far, they’ve been working together as Nami tribemates until the last vote, where they blindsided Soda.

This season has set up a couple of rather apparent eliminations—the Tim and Soda votes last week were very clearly foreshadowed in their conversations and portrayals in previous episodes. Given this pattern, I think Q will go next, and Liz will follow soon after, seeing how they’ve been either undermined or almost caricatured into just characters for our viewing entertainment.

  1. I agree with the Liz and Q thing but id flip them with Liz going first then Q. I can’t see Q making any further then top 9. And compared with the others Liz has no story
