Next Time On Survivor – Episode 12

Steph Lauw makes her predictions for the next episode!

CBS

Welcome to Season 46’s Next Time On Survivor weekly feature on the Inside Survivor site! If you’re new around here, I’m Steph from sunny, tropical, humid Singapore. This is a tiny space where I give my best attempts at understanding preview trailers and make my predictions for the show’s next episodes.

The most significant portion of the latest NTOS preview was the focus on Maria and Charlie and their alliance being put into question. While Maria muses, “I feel like I got a good friend,” Charlie, in a voice-over, shares, “I love her to death, but I have to vote her out.”

It seems that Charlie’s finally going to make a move and attempt to break away from Maria in this episode. Indeed, that’s a move that he needs to make to differentiate himself from Maria, whom he has been working with this whole season, especially after the last episode where there was much talk about her being able to successfully control Q’s vote.

Maria also states, “Something died in me today. It’s gonna light a fire under me,” and “If they’re not trying to get me out, that’s their mistake.” She knows she’s a threat to win and likely the person the others unquestionably want to eliminate. I personally think she’s flown too close to the sun too soon and may either be taken out before the Final Tribal Council or isn’t able to maintain this level of respect til the end game.

I think Charlie does try to pull together the votes to blindside Maria. Perhaps Maria caught wind of Charlie wanting to divorce himself from their alliance, which brought about the “something died in me today” confessional. That being said, Charlie may attempt it, but I don’t think he’ll be successful as it’s a little too obvious from the preview trailers for Maria to actually be the vote out next episode.

Instead, I predict that Kenzie’s going to organise a blindside of Q. In the NTOS trailer, we see her silently forming the letter “Q” to Ben. Next, Ben tells Charlie, “This is going to be my favourite blindside of the season.” Now, this may be referring to Charlie’s plan of blindsiding Maria, and if so, I’m leaning towards Ben saying this just to appease Charlie and tell him what he wants to hear. I don’t think it’s in Ben’s interest to vote Maria out as she’s a number that has been working with him too.

In contrast with Charlie, I feel Kenzie has the better social relationships to convince others to vote Q out, probably citing how Q will not work with anyone but Charlie and Maria. In the trailers, she also exasperatedly says, “What do you mean it was an accident? How did that happen?” It’s very open-ended, but I guess she’s referring to Ben voting for her at the last tribal council. Perhaps she has to get over this shock and work with Ben to pull off a Q blindside.

  1. I agree that it is finally Q’s time to go. The only person who’s best interest he is into stay is Maria. And Maria is a threat so I think he’ll get the boot to weaken her. As to why they don’t take out Maria herself, maybe she wins immunity or idol fear or they decide that Q is a bigger physical threat

  2. Sadly, I do think you’re finally right. Q is probably finally leaving, which is a shame, since he’s the only interesting character left. So, the season is ending right before the final 5. Shame, but at least it went a bit longer than last season’s did when it ended when Bruce got unfairly voted out.

  3. Q left so getting Maria out would be wise next. Who knows. I don’t feel this season is as good as other seasons.
