Next Time On Survivor – Episode 7

Steph Lauw makes her predictions for the next episode!

Well, this is going to be a shorter post. This week’s Next Time On Survivor trailer basically reiterates the twist that Jeff explained to Erika on Exile last week. To recap, Erika was given a choice between letting the game carry on as is or to “change the events of history,” transferring immunity from the winning team to herself and the losing team of Episode 6’s challenge.

The NTOS then essentially repeats what was shown in the episode itself, with some added reaction soundbites as the twist is revealed to the other players, finally ending on a cliffhanger. Except… the cliffhanger was resolved in Episode 7’s press photos. So do click away if you’re not into mild spoilers!

In one of the press photos, we see the players lined up in front of the new individual challenge. Heather, Tiffany, Liana, Shan, and Xander, who previously lost the team immunity challenge, seem to be holding red merge buffs. At the other half of the line, the previous winning team have their buffs on the ground in front of them.

Clearly, Erika has chosen to turn back time. Watching Episode 6, I thought there was no way she wasn’t going to smash the hourglass and pass up on the offer. She rightly says, “Whatever I do, there are going to be people who are going to be upset with me.” So why wouldn’t Erika guarantee her own immunity, especially after being away from the rest of the players for two nights? She has even reasoned with Jeff that she’s at the bottom of her original Luvu tribe.

So we will have Evvie, Sydney, Naseer, Ricard, Deshawn, and Danny compete for individual immunity in the next challenge. From the NTOS preview, it looks like one of the recurring challenges from San Juan del Sur and Cambodia, where players stack tiles with only their feet.

Whoever’s winning the challenge aside, I’m predicting that the Luvu trio of Sydney, Deshawn, and Danny will be targeted. I feel like taking out Luvu will definitely be on the minds of the non-Luvu players, and these three seem the most solidly grouped with each other, with Erika, Naseer, and Heather perhaps on the fringes. Of the three, I then feel that Sydney will be the eventual choice to be eliminated, as Deshawn and Danny have formed an alliance with Liana and Shan.

My second thought is that Naseer may be voted out. By elimination, I feel that he has the least connections with the half of the tribe that has immunity—Evvie has a strong alliance from Yase, and Ricard has Shan, whom I think will hang on to their shaky but at least familiar relationship for a while longer. That leaves Naseer as a relatively easier vote.

Of course, there are many advantages and idols that I’m not able to account for. Naseer, Shan, and Xander have immunity idols, Deshawn and Xander have extra votes, and Liana has the Knowledge is Power advantage. Nonetheless, I’m predicting that the upcoming Tribal Council will see either Sydney or Naseer leaving the game.
