Reward Challenge – “Starfish”
- This challenge was previously used in Edge of Extinction.
- It was a reward challenge this season and an immunity challenge in Edge of Extinction.
- Both times it was won by a man (Rick and Ricard).
- Both seasons that used this challenge had the same tribe color scheme.
- Both players to win were on a green tribe pre-merge and a red merged tribe.
- Both times this challenge was used, there were 8 players left.
- This was Heather and Shan’s first post-merge reward.
- This was the first post-merge reward that Danny and DeShawn haven’t taken part in.
Immunity Challenge – “Hard to Handle”
- Versions of this challenge were previously used in South Pacific, Cagayan, Cambodia, Millennials vs. Gen X, and Edge of Extinction.
- The first two winners of this challenge were women (Whitney and Tasha), but it’s only been won by men since Cambodia (Joe, Ken, Gavin, and Ricard).
- Ricard is the first person to win multiple individual immunity challenges this season.
- He won both challenges this episode.
- He’s also the only hearing-impaired player to ever win individual immunity.
Tribal Council
- Shan was voted out 6-0 after a 3-3-2 tie vote.
- This is the second week in a row with a tie vote.
- This is the first time that a 3-3-2 tie vote ended up with a 6-0 revote.
- The only other time a 3-3-2 vote happened without idols being used was in episode 6 of Nicaragua, where Kelly Bruno was voted out 5-1 after a revote.
- Shan went into this episode with 0 votes against her, and ended up with 9 votes against her, which is the highest number of votes for a player this season.
- All three players to receive votes in this episode live in Washington DC and/or are Canadian.
- Liana lives in Washington DC.
- Erika is Canadian.
- Shan is Canadian and lives in Washington DC.
- Erika is now the longest lasting Canadian on Survivor.

- Shan Smith in Survivor 41: 8th Place
- Erika is also the only player to reside in Canada at the time of filming.
- This is the second week in a row that someone was voted out with an idol.
- Both Shan and Naseer were also both voted out after a tie vote.

- She’s the only player left with a single digit confessional count.
- She has the same amount of confessionals as Voce, who was the third player voted out.

- The tenth episode received 5.2 million viewers and 0.9 in the Adults 18-49 demo.
Episode Title
- The episode title “Baby with a Machine Gun” was said by Erika while talking about Shan being a dangerous player in the game.
