Let’s jump right into the Next Time On Survivor trailer since it begins with a scene right after Episode 10’s Tribal Council. After a split vote tiebreaker and the blindside of Shan, an understandably pissed off Liana returns to camp and unleashes on Deshawn and Danny. “We cannibalised ourselves!” Liana says.
Shan was by far Liana’s closest ally, and the two also created a personal bond that went beyond the game. The blindside of Shan last episode firmly marks the end of the alliance the two women had with Danny and Deshawn, isolating Liana now by herself.
There are seven players left in the game—Erika, Heather, Danny, Ricard, Xander, Deshawn, and Liana. In a near-unanimous plan, everyone except Liana voted together last Tribal. Dropping from the majority alliance to the bottom, Liana warns in a confessional, “You’re a snake, I’m gonna bite back, and I hope you’re gone tomorrow.” This most likely refers to Deshawn, whom Shan also called out as a “snake” when she exited Tribal.
For Liana, I feel like she’ll struggle to find a solid ‘in’ with the rest of the players, perhaps pitching a women’s alliance with Erika and Heather as they remain the lesser of evils to her. However, I believe she’s on borrowed time and won’t be able to regain her footing after Shan’s exit.
The next few shots in the trailer are soundbites discussing voting options. Xander says plainly to Ricard, “Your name’s out there big time,” while Ricard states, “Erika’s shady.” Erika then gets a confessional saying, “If I don’t take a shot now, I have no chance.”
These statements don’t provide much new information—from previous episodes, we know that Ricard is a big target, and Erika is a threat to the players (though us viewers haven’t really seen why).
I predict these scenes may lead to Erika kickstarting a plan to take out Ricard. She has a solid ally in Heather, as well as previous Luvu tribemates Danny and Deshawn, whose alliance now seems to be reduced to just a pair. I think she’ll target Ricard as they don’t seem to be aligned with each other, as far as we know.
The last portion of NTOS shows Jeff Probst announcing a twist at the immunity challenge, describing it as a “dangerous one.” Here, I must first admit that I do know a part of what the twist is, but not enough to understand its full mechanics and outcome. However, with this limited information, I’m inclined to believe that this completely new twist leads the seven players to play conservatively this episode.
Finally, for my boot predictions this week: I considered Xander as he’s a looming target with his immunity idol and extra vote. However, I think he scrapes by another episode as it doesn’t seem like he’s a prioritised threat to take out. Furthermore, his gleeful confessional in the trailer, “It’s too good to be true!” may be because he wins the immunity challenge, and/or the outcome of the twist is in his favour.
Ultimately, my prediction, as mentioned above, is that the players play conservatively this episode, and choose a relatively easy target—Liana.
