Australian Survivor is bringing in loved ones for the upcoming season, and the first trailer promises plenty of emotion and intensity, as well as the arrival of a Survivor legend.
The teaser—revealed on Monday’s edition of The Project—features sweeping shots of the Queensland landscape, alongside brief introductions to some of the new castaways set to take on the world’s greatest adventure.
“Survivor has always been an individual game, but this season, it’s all about to change,” says host Jonathan LaPaglia as we see shots of the loved one pairs walking through a desert of burning trees.

One of the pairs is Mark and Samantha Wales, who met on Australian Survivor 2017 and later went on to get married and have children. “Playing Survivor with your spouse is a very dangerous idea, but the good thing is, if one of us wins, we both win,” says Mark in the trailer.
There are pairs of siblings, cousins, couples, plus parents & children, including a Survivor icon and her daughter. “I’m the queen of Survivor because I’m the first two-time winner ever,” says Sandra Diaz-Twine as we see her arrive in Australia with her baby girl Nina. “Ya’ll better look out because I taught her well,” states Sandra.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, production once again took place domestically. The season filmed earlier this year in the Charters Towers region of Queensland—the most recent season, Brains vs. Brawn, took place at Cloncurry in rural Queensland.
Blood vs. Water is expected to premiere in February 2022.

Why tf is Sandra playing Survivor Australia? Is Australia all out of annoying women?
Is it strange that I’m more excited to see Sandra’s daughter than I am to see Sandra herself?
The premiere date is announced as January 31.
