CBS has revealed its slate of midseason reality programming for 2019, including several primetime premiere dates. The line-up features the return of Survivor and The Amazing Race, plus the second edition of Celebrity Big Brother USA, which will once again air over three weeks on a condensed schedule.
But most important to Survivor fans is the air date of the upcoming thirty-eighth season, Survivor: Edge of Extinction, which will premiere Wednesday, February 20 at 8:00 PM with just a single one-hour episode. The season, which was filmed in Fiji earlier this year, will feature four returning players and fourteen brand new castaways vying for the $1 million prize.
“On Wednesday, Feb. 20 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), the Emmy Award-winning SURVIVOR returns for its 38thseason. Emmy Award winner Jeff Probst returns as host.”
The 31st season of The Amazing Race, which features a number of Survivor teams, as well as teams made up of former Big Brother and Amazing Race contestants, is set to premiere on May 22 taking the place of Survivor, which will wrap up its season the week before. Celebrity Big Brother premieres January 21.
Inside Survivor revealed the controversial theme/twist for season 38 earlier this year, as well as the new castaways who will be competing.
Stay tuned to Inside Survivor over the coming months for more news and features regarding season 38.

4 returnees + 14 newbies = 18. HOW does that break down into 4 tribes of 5 or 2 of 10?
Two tribes of 9.
I got my statement from somewhere on here – think it was in an article.
Where can I find information about the tribes?
After a GOLDEN season like David vs. Goliath, we are forced to witness a season where the ONLY way to lose (except for the finale) is to QUIT!?!?!?!?!? Don’t the producers know that fans HATE watching people quit and most of us have trouble re-watching episodes where people quit!?!?!?!?!?!? This is CLEARLY a season where they’re saying “Hey, how can we ensure that these former players that we wanted to win in prior seasons have the easiest chance while also preventing what happened to Coach in South Pacific from happening again?” and this was the result!!!
I was ecstatic to see that someone from Baylor would be on this season but now that this theme has been confirmed, I am INCREDIBLY FLABBERGASTED as to how the producers and creators thought that this was a good idea for MODERN SURVIVOR!!!!!
I hope season 39 is winner all season with jt Thomas I for one am gald they are doing this way if joe is one of the returning captains and people usually go after him come merge or even before that I am happy they are doing this so If joe gets emiltAted he still has a chance of Winning thanks producers
Anyone know if contestants on extinction island will get regular interviews and episode exposure? Like they are their own tribe. Or is it just when they perform the challenges to return to the game? I run a pool and my rules will have to change depending on this answer.
