Season

  • Survivor 42 is the only new era season to have players from three different starting tribes make up the final 3.
    • Survivor 41: Two from Luvu, one from Yase, none from Ua.
    • Survivor 42: One from Taku, one from Vati, one from Ika.
    • Survivor 43: Two from Baka, one from Coco, none from Vesi.
    • Survivor 44: Two from Tika, one from Soka, none from Ratu.
    • Survivor 45: Two from Reba, one from Belo, none from Lulu.
    • Survivor 46: Two from Siga, one from Yanu, none from Nami.
    • Survivor 47: Two from Gata, one from Tuku, none from Lavo.
      • All new era winners who went into final tribal council with another player from their starting tribe won the season with the exception of Kenzie, who was the lone Yanu member.
  • Every even-numbered new era season had a medical evacuation, while every odd-numbered new era season did not.
  • None of the new era seasons have had a final tribal council that consisted of members from only one starting tribe.

Immunity Challenge – ”Suzi Quatro”

  • Variations of this challenge were previously used in Borneo, The Australian Outback, Africa, Thailand, Pearl Islands, All-Stars, One World, Philippines, Millennials vs. Gen X, Survivor 43, Survivor 45, and Survivor 46.
    • Malcolm in Philippines and David in Millennials vs. Gen X are the only players to individually win this challenge and not make it to final tribal council.
  • Rachel tied for most individual immunity wins for a woman in one season with four wins. She tied with Kelly Wigglesworth (Borneo), Jenna Morasca (The Amazon), Kim Spradlin-Wolfe (One World), and Chrissy Hofbeck (Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers).
    • She’s also the first woman of color to win four individual immunity challenges in a single season.
  • Genevieve is the only Lavo member to win individual immunity this season.
  • This is the first new era season where more women won individual immunity challenges than men.
    • Women: Sue, Rachel, and Genevieve won individual immunity.
    • Men: Kyle and Gabe won individual immunity.
  • Rachel is the fourth winner that won the final immunity challenge of a season since the forced firemaking challenge was introduced.
    • Nick, Chris U, and Dee also won the final immunity challenge.
  • All of the even-numbered new era seasons had someone win the final individual immunity challenge without winning a previous individual immunity challenge, while all of the odd-numbered new era seasons had a final immunity challenge winner that had previously won at least one immunity challenge.
    • Survivor 41: Xander won the final immunity challenge and the immunity challenge in episode 9.

Confessionals

  • Sam had the highest confessional count this season with 93.
    • He has the highest confessional count in a new era season.
  • This was the first time since Cagayan that a player received more than 90 confessionals in a season.
    • Tony had 90 that season.
  • Rachel has the highest confessional count for a woman with 86, beating Kelly Wiglesworth’s record of 85 in Borneo.
    • Rachel also holds the record for most confessionals for a female winner, beating out Kenzie, who had 75 confessionals in Survivor 46.
  • Rachel and Sam both broke Charlie’s record for most confessionals in the new era.
    • Charlie’s previous record was 84. Rachel had 86 confessionals, and Sam had 93.
  • In seasons 41, 42, 45, 46, and 47, the runner-up had the most confessionals of the season.
    • Yam Yam is the only new era winner with the highest confessional count of the season.
  • This season holds the record for the highest number of total confessionals, with 728.
  • Sam is the fifth player to have the first confessional of a season AND the highest total number of confessionals in a season. The others are as follows:

Fourth Place: Teeny

  • Teeny is the highest-ranking non-binary player.
    • Evvie from Survivor 41 came in ninth place, while Teeny came in fourth place.
    • Both non-binary players made it to the jury and cast their jury vote for the eventual winner, who was an Asian-American woman in her 30s.
  • Teeny is the fourth LGBTQ+ player to be eliminated in fourth place after Natalie in Micronesia, Ozzy in South Pacific, and Katurah in Survivor 45.
  • Teeny lost the fire-making challenge against Sam in the final four fire-making challenge.
    • They’re the 16th person to be eliminated from the game (outside of a quit, removal, or medevac) without a vote taking place at all.
      • Wanda and Jonathan in Palau were the first and second (not chosen during the initial schoolyard pick for tribes), Bobby Jon in Palau was the third, Devon in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers was the fourth, Angela was the fifth in Ghost Island, Kara was the sixth in David vs. Goliath, Rick was seventh in Edge of Extinction, Lauren Beck was the eighth in Island of the Idols Sarah Lacine was the ninth in Winners at War, Heather Aldret was the tenth in Survivor 41, Jonathan was the eleventh in Survivor 42, Jesse was the twelfth in Survivor 43, Carson was the thirteenth in Survivor 44, Katurah was the fourteenth in Survivor 45, and Liz was the fifteenth in Survivor 46
        • Liz, Katurah, Carson, Jesse, Jonathan, Heather, Lauren, Rick, Kara, Angela, Devon, and Bobby Jon were eliminated due to a fire-making challenge.
    • Ian Rosenberger in Palau, Brandon Hantz in Caramoan, and Jeff Varner in Game Changers were eliminated without a formal vote taking place but were still voted out.
  • Teeny is the 19th player to lose a firemaking challenge at the final 4.
  • Teeny is the 20th castaway to be eliminated without being voted out, removed, quitting, or being medically evacuated. The others are as follows:

  • Sue is only the fourth woman over 50 to make it to final tribal council after Kim J. in Africa, Lil Morris in Pearl Islands, and Carolyn in Worlds Apart.
    • She’s the sixth woman to make it to the top three after the above-mentioned and Jan in Thailand and Scout in Vanuatu.
  • Both players named Sue on Survivor made it to the final 4.

      • Tyson is the only non-new-era winner to win with a 7-1-0 final vote count.
  • Rachel is tied with the following players for the most votes to win (7) at final tribal council for a woman:

    • The first was Becky in Cook Islands, the second was Natalie in San Juan del Sur, and the third was Erika in Survivor 41.
  • She’s the only player to win the game and be in possession of the vote-blocker advantage during the season.
  • Rachel was the first person to play a shot in the dark advantage while in possession of a hidden immunity idol.
  • Yam Yam and Rachel are the only winners to start on the Tavua II beach.
    • This beach has only been used in 40s seasons and has been the home for Yara, Ua, Ika, Coco, Tika, Lulu, Siga, and Gata.
  • Rachel has the most number of challenge wins of any new era winner with 11.
    • The most recent winner to have more challenge wins than her was Wendell in Ghost Island.
      • Coincidentally, they share the same birthday (March 8th).
  • She’s the first new era winner and the first winner since Chris Underwood to negate votes against her with a hidden immunity idol.
  • Every new era winner except for Maryanne in Survivor 42 won at least one individual immunity challenge in their winning season.
  • Three winners started on “G” tribes, and all three of those tribes were yellow.
    • Tyson from Galang in Blood vs. Water.
    • Michele from Gondol in Kaoh Rong.
    • Rachel from Gata in Survivor 47.
  • Galu and Gota are the only “G” tribes without winners. In addition to the others mentioned above, Aras in Panama was on the merged tribe Gitanos, and Gabler in Survivor 43 was on the merged tribe Gaia.
  • 11/22 (50%) of yellow starting tribes have produced a winner.
    • This is the highest percentage of winners for a tribe color that has appeared more than once.
  • Green is the only starting tribe color to not yet produce a winner in the new era.

Episode Title

    • Matty Whitmore from Gabon.
    • Sierra Dawn Thomas from Worlds Apart and Game Changers.
  • Aysha and Andy were born on the same day, one year apart.
    • Aysha’s birthday is April 2nd, 1992, and Andy’s is April 2nd, 1993.
  • Genevieve is the first Survivor player to be born on June 4th.
  • Rome is the first Survivor player to be born on October 11th.
