  1. I still don’t understand the Michael love. He played terribly this episode. He only used his idol because his missteps forced him to – missteps like his bad approach toward Angela, trying to call the shots despite being on the very bottom (he could have asked Laurel who to target and run with it), and voting for Wendell to ensure his prompt vote-out, barring an immunity win.

Michael would be second-to-last on my ranking of all players in this episode, given the amount of mistakes he made. His idol play was boring AF, too – what a waste of the F***ing Stick!

I voted for Angela, by the way. Swallowing a sea slug whole is mightily impressive. And she gave plenty of reasons to get Naviti to flush Michael’s idol, which she had to have known about given how much he looked.

  2. Sad to see Angela get so much votes, which was clearly just an edit trick to make her look like she had game. Laurel, on the other hand, has real game and gained information and made the right choice sticking with Wendell, but understanding he has too much power.

  3. I don’t understand the “Michael is a bad player” narrative (the one espoused by comments on this and other sites). It’s not a storyline the editors want us to feel– in his testimonies, he only ever comes off as an assured, adept player, and they wouldn’t have shown him “finishing his meal” if they didn’t want him give him a certain “honorable” aura– and it’s not one my “beyond the edit” intuitions are picking up on, either. He seems to get along with people fine. That people don’t want to work with him is mostly a function of his Malolo-ness (this is the (boring) story of the season) and fear of his success in challenges (where he consistently performs in the top half). And you can’t knock his idol play– it was maybe just the second time this season that an idol has actually saved a player.

I should’ve voted for him as player of the week, in retrospect. I picked Angela, but I think I was tricked by an explosive edit. Do people on the island really find her convincing? I wouldn’t work with her– she’s too damn erratic.

  4. And the award for “Most Disappointing” Player this week would have to go to Sea Bass. If a dude like that can’t win the Gross Food challenge, then what is he even there for?
