Rob Brodeur breaks down all the latest stats from the seventh episode!

Each week Inside Survivor contributor Rob Brodeur will be collecting various Survivor related statistics and information based off the latest episode of Survivor: Ghost Island.

Tribal Council

  • Bradley was voted out 4-1.
    • He’s the only Naviti to be voted out unanimously.
  • Bradley is the third Brad to play Survivor.
    • Every Brad to play Survivor has been voted out pre-merge.
      • Brad Virata – Cook Islands
      • Brad Culpepper – Blood vs. Water
      • Bradley Kleihege – Ghost Island
  • Bradley has received votes from 8 different people this season.
    • Brendan, Jenna, Michael, and Stephanie voted for him in Episode 4, while Chelsea, Domenick, Donathan, and Libby voted for him this episode.
      • The only other person with votes from 8 different people was Gonzalez.
  • Every person voted out pre-merge has been voted out from the tribe they started on.
    • This is the first time in Survivor history this has happened in a season with two swaps.
      • This is the first time this has happened since Philippines.
  • Both times Naviti has gone to tribal council, a majority of the votes went to original Naviti members, while one vote went to Libby.
    • Episode 3 – four votes Morgan (Naviti), three votes Angela (Naviti), one vote Libby.
    • Episode 7 – four votes Bradley (Naviti), one vote Libby.
  • Donathan has gone to exactly one tribal council in each pre-merge portion of the game.
    • Episode 1, pre-swap.
    • Episode 3, after first swap.
    • Episode 7, after second swap.
  • Both times Libby has attended tribal council while on Naviti, she received one vote from an original Naviti member.
  • Both players voted out after the second swap started on one tribe, swapped to another tribe, and swapped back to their original tribe.
    • James: Malolo – Naviti – Malolo.
    • Bradley: Naviti – Malolo – Naviti.
  • Episode 4 is the only time that there wasn’t a sole vote for someone.
    • Episode 1 – one vote for Donathan.
    • Episode 2 – one vote for Michael.
    • Episode 3 – one vote for Libby.
    • Episode 5 – one vote for Desiree.
    • Episode 6 – one vote for Desiree.
    • Episode 7 – one vote for Libby.

Ghost Island/Advantage

  • Kellyn is the first person to be sent to Ghost Island twice this season.
    • This was the first time she played the game of chance.
  • Both times Kellyn went to Ghost Island, Bradley received votes at that episodes’ tribal council.
  • The advantage that Kellyn received was Sarah’s steal-a-vote from Game Changers. It is “cursed” due to Michaela missing it while sitting out of a challenge, then being voted out by Sarah with it.
    • The advantage has changed and is now an extra vote at tribal council.

Hidden Immunity Idol

  • Both idols found this episode were from Micronesia.
    • Neither one of them were hidden immunity idols before but now their power has changed.
      • Michael’s “f-ing stick” idol was originally a fake hidden immunity idol made by Ozzy and found by Jason, who then gave it to Eliza. Eliza was voted out at that tribal council.
      • Wendell’s idol was originally the individual immunity necklace. It was won by Erik at Final 5, but given to Natalie after he was tricked by the Black Widow Brigade into giving it up. Erik was voted out after giving up his immunity.
  • Michael is the first person to find more than one idol this season.

Tribes/Merge

  • With Donathan and Libby making the merge, they are the 9th and 10th players to have been on a tribe with every single person in their season. The others are as follows:
    • Vecepia, Rob, and Sean in Marquesas.
    • Denise in Philippines.
    • Kelly Wiglesworth and Spencer in Cambodia.
    • Aubry and Michaela in Game Changers.
  • Chris is the only person this season to make it to the merge without going to tribal council. He joins the following players:
    • The entire Tandang tribe – Philippines.
    • Keith and Joe – Cambodia.
    • Michele and Nick – Kaoh Rong.
    • Cirie – Game Changers.
    • Dr. Mike, Cole and Jessica – Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers.
      • Chris however is the first person to do this without winning every pre-merge immunity challenge, as his tribe lost the immunity challenge in Episode 3, but he was sent to Ghost Island.
  • Everyone from Yanuya made it to the merge with zero votes against them.
    • This previously happened with Tavua in Game Changers, which was another green “expansion” tribe.
  • Yanuya is the second “expansion” tribe to not be dissolved before the merge.
    • The first was Ikabula in Millennials vs. Gen X.
      • Angkor in Cambodia and Tavua in Game Changers were dissolved at the second swap.
  • This is the third time in Survivor where three tribes merged into one.
    • This previously happened in Millennials vs. Gen X, & Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers.
    • Ghost Island is the first “non-versus” season that this happened.
  • This is only the second time that three African-Americans (Desiree, Laurel and Wendell) have made it to the merge.
    • The first were Earl, Cassandra and Dreamz in Fiji.
    • It’s also only the second time two African-American women have made the merge, the first were Cirie and Michaela in Game Changers.
  • Ghost Island has the same tribe color scheme (pre-merge tribes & merge tribe) as Cagayan and Millennials vs. Gen X.
  • The last season with all newbies not divided by a theme (Samoa), also had a purple tribe which only lost two members pre-merge, one male and one female.
    • SamoaYasmin and Russell eliminated pre-merge.
    • Ghost Island – Morgan and Bradley voted out pre-merge.
  • There have been two seasons since we last saw a black merged tribe, as the last black merged tribe was in Millennials vs. Gen X.
    • The last time there were two non-black tribes back-to-back was in Caramoan and Blood vs. Water.
      • Before that, the last two seasons without back-to-back black tribes were Micronesia and Gabon.

Confessionals

  • Michael had the most confessionals this episode with 5.
  • Angela, Jenna, Laurel, and Sebastian all had 0 confessionals this episode.
    • Angela is the only non-Yanuya member to get 0 confessionals.
    • Everyone from current Naviti had at least 1 confessional in this episode.

Reward Challenge – “Discy Business”

  • Similar variations of this challenge were used in Blood vs. Water, San Juan Del Sur, Kaoh Rong, and Game Changers.
    • It was used as an individual immunity challenge in those seasons.
  • This exact challenge was used in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers.
    • This season is the first time it was used as a reward challenge rather than an immunity challenge.
  • In Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, this challenge was also used in the episode right before the merge.

Immunity Challenge – “Cruel Sea”

  • This challenge was named after an Australian blues band.
  • This challenge was previously seen in San Juan Del Sur.
    • Both times this challenge has been played, an orange tribe won.
  • Yanuya has won every challenge they’ve competed in.
  • This was the first challenge Malolo has won since Episode 3.
    • It’s also the first challenge Desiree, Kellyn & Michael have won since Episode 3.

  1. Great stats! It’s weird how you can tell you’re a superfan when you get addicted to stuff like this that you shouldn’t even remember, lol. LOVE IT.

  2. *Nevermind I misread the stat*

Donathan and Libby have never been on a tribe with Kellyn, Des, or Seb.
