Survivor 50 Pre-Season Stats

Cast/Season

This is the first US season to have 24 players on a cast.
- Previously, the highest number of players in a season was 20.
This is the 6th season with all returning players
- All-Stars, Heroes vs. Villains, Cambodia, Game Changers, & Winners at War are the others.
  - Cambodia is the only all-returning player season that didn’t feature any returning winners.
This is the first returning player season to only last 26 days.
This is the 2nd returning player season where the cast was announced before the season filmed, after Cambodia
This is the first season since to not follow the diversity initiative (in which half the cast are to be BIPOC players).
- 10/24 players are BIPOC, which is only 42% of the cast.
Winners at War has the highest placement average for an all-returning player cast:
- All Stars: 4.72
- Heroes vs Villains: 4.50
- Cambodia: 6.60
- Game Changers: 7.80
- Winners at War: 3.26
- In the Hands of the Fans:4.73
  - These numbers don’t include the castaway’s placements in the season that’s listed.
This is the first season since Tocantins where the tribes have 8 players each.
This is the first all returning player season to not have a player from Pearl Islands on the cast.

  - Micronesia, which was half new players, half returning players had Fairplay on the cast.
  - Blood vs. Water, which was half new players, half returning players had Rupert on the cast.
  - Caramoan is the only season with half new players and half returning players to not have a Pearl Islands player on the cast.
This is the 15th season with some form of returning players.
- All-Stars, Guatemala, Micronesia, Heroes vs. Villains, Redemption Island, South Pacific, Philippines, Caramoan, Blood vs. Water, Cambodia, Game Changers, Edge of Extinction, Winners at War, & Survivor 45 are the others.
There have been 3 five-time players, 8 four-time players, 18 three-time players, and 90 two-time players on Survivor.
This is the second returning player season to have 3 winners competing after Game Changers.

This season holds the record for most runners-up competing with 8.
- Aubry, Charlie, Chrissy, Colby, Coach, Mike, Ozzy, & Stephenie placed 2nd in one of their prior seasons.
As of this season, the only seasons to not be represented in a returning player season are Island of the Idols, Winners at War, Survivor 41, & Survivor 43.
As of this season, Caramoan, Island of the Idols, Survivor 41, & Survivor 43 are the only seasons to never have any of their first-time players play again.
Blue is the only “new era” starting tribe color that is not represented this season.
- Red: Dee, Genevieve, Savannah, & Rizo

This season has the biggest span of cast members going from Borneo to Survivor 49.

    - Heroes vs. Villains has the highest number of returning players of any season with 12.

Cila is based on the Fijian word meaning “to shine”
Cila’s tribe emblem is the sun.
Cila is the first starting tribe to have players who have played 5+ times.
Cila is the 20th orange starting tribe and the 24th orange tribe overall on Survivor.
Cila is the third tribe that has both Cirie and Ozzy on it after Malakal in Micronesia & Nuku in Game Changers.
Cila is the first tribe since Ta Keo in Cambodia to have a player who was on Borneo.
- Kelly was on Ta Keo on Cambodia
- Jenna is on Cila on In the Hands of the Fans
Nobody from Survivor 46 is on Cila.
- Charlie & Tiffany are on Kalo, Q is on Vatu.
Cila (and Kalo) are the 4th and 5th starting tribes with all returning players that don’t contain anyone from The Australian Outback or Pearl Islands. The others are as follows:

Kalo is based on the Fijian word for “spirit” or “god”.
Kalo’s tribe emblem is a moon.
Kalo is the first tribe since Espada to have 3 players over the age of 50.
Kalo is the 27th blue starting tribe and the 33rd blue tribe overall on Survivor.
- Blue is the most used tribe color and starting tribe color on Survivor.
Fiji, Millennials vs. Gen X, Ghost Island, Survivor 44, & Survivor 46 are the only Fiji-set seasons without a blue tribe.
- There’s been a blue tribe on every season since Survivor 47.
Coach is the only player on Kalo who has played more than once prior to this season, and the only player to previously play in a location other than Fiji
Kalo is the only tribe this season where nobody was previously on the same starting tribe as another player
- Cila: Ozzy & Cirie have started on the same tribe 3 times.
- Vatu: Colby & Stephenie started on the same tribe in Heroes vs. Villains
5 players on this tribe have made it to final tribal council at least once before.
- Tiffany is the only player on this tribe who didn’t make it to the final 4 of her season.

Vatu

Vatu is based on the Fijian word for “rock” or “stone”.
Vatu’s tribe emblem is Earth.
Vatu is the first pink tribe since Bayon in Cambodia, and the 3rd pink tribe overall including Soliantu from Marquesas.
Vatu is the only tribe this season that is evenly split between “old era” and “new era” players.
Vatu is the 4th tribe where none of the members have previously been on a starting tribe of the same color.
- None of the members of Chapera in All-Stars had previously been on a red tribe
- None of the members of Bikal in Caramoan had previously been on a purple tribe.
- None of the members of Bayon in Cambodia had previously been on a pink tribe.
  - In the Hands of the Fans is the 2nd time it’s happened with a pink tribe.
This is the second time that players who were on a purple starting tribe on their original season ended up on a pink tribe on their returning season.
- Monica was on Galu in Samoa and Bayon in Cambodia
- Angelina was on Goliath/Jabeni in David vs. Goliath, Q was on Yanu in Survivor 46 and both are on Vatu on In the Hands of the Fans
Every time two Heroes from Heroes vs Villains returned to a season, they were on the same starting tribe.
- In Blood vs. Water Candice & Rupert were on Galang.
- In Game Changers, Cirie & JT were on Nuku.
- In In the Hands of the Fans, Colby & Stephenie are on Vatu.
