Each week Inside Survivor contributor Rob Brodeur will be collecting various Survivor-related statistics and information based on the latest episode of Survivor 49.

Season

  • Survivor 42 is the only new era season to have players from three different starting tribes make up the final 3.
    • Survivor 41: Two from Luvu, one from Yase, none from Ua
    • Survivor 42: One from Taku, one from Vati, one from Ika
    • Survivor 43: Two from Baka, one from Coco, none from Vesi
    • Survivor 44: Two from Tika, one from Soka, none from Ratu
    • Survivor 45: Two from Reba, one from Belo, none from Lulu
    • Survivor 46: Two from Siga, one from Yanu, none from Nami
    • Survivor 47: Two from Gata, one from Tuku, none from Lavo
    • Survivor 48: Two from Lagi, one from Civa, none from Vula
    • Survivor 49: Two from Uli, one from Kele, none from Hina
      • All new era winners who went into final tribal council with another player from their starting tribe won the season with the exception of Kenzie and Kyle.
  • None of the new era seasons have had a final tribal council that consisted of members from only one starting tribe.
  • Survivor 43, 47, and 48 are the only new era seasons where the runner-up and third place were of different genders.

  • This is the seventh season where all members of the final three received at least one vote to win after China, Philippines, San Juan del Sur, Worlds Apart, Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, and Survivor 48.
  • This is the first season since the inception of the “lost vote” that nobody lost their vote at any point in the season due to a beware advantage, losing a challenge, etc.
  • This is the first season since San Juan del Sur to have three women at final tribal council, and the third season overall after One World.
    • Nicaragua is the only other season with a same gender final 3, with Fabio, Chase, and Sash.
  • Survivor 49 and San Juan del Sur had an all female final three and aired exactly 11 years apart.
    • San Juan del Sur: Natalie, Missy, & Jaclyn, aired December 17th 2014
    • Survivor 49: Savannah, Sophi, & Sage, aired December 17th 2025
  • Green is the only new era starting tribe color that hasn’t produced a winner in the new era.
    • Red: Dee & Savannah
    • Orange: Kyle & Maryanne
    • Yellow: Gabler & Rachel
    • Blue: Erika
    • Purple: Yam Yam & Kenzie
  • The last winner from a green starting tribe was Yul in Cook Islands.
    • There’s only been three green starting tribe winners. Tina in Australian Outback, Aras in Panama, and Yul as previously mentioned.
  • This is the first season where all members of final tribal council had names that start with the same letter.
  • 9 of the 13 votes this season were unanimous.

Immunity Challenge #1 – “Counting Crows Nest”

  • Variations of this challenge have been used in Borneo, The Australian Outback, Africa, Thailand, Pearl Islands, All-Stars, One World, Philippines, Millennials vs. Gen X, Survivor 43, Survivor 45, Survivor 46, Survivor 47, and Survivor 48.
    • David, Malcolm, and Kamilla are the only players to individually win this challenge and not make it to final tribal council.
    • Brian, Kim, Kenzie, Rachel, and Savannah individually won this challenge and won the season.
      • Richard won this as a tribal challenge in Borneo, and Amber won this as a tribal challenge in All-Stars.
  • Erika is the only player to find the F5 challenge advantage and win the immunity challenge.
    • Survivor 41: Erika found the advantage and won the challenge.
    • Survivor 42: Lindsay found the advantage and Mike won the challenge.
    • Survivor 43: Karla found the advantage and Owen won the challenge.
    • Survivor 44: No advantage
    • Survivor 45:Jake found the advantage and Austin won the challenge.
    • Survivor 46 & 47: No advantage
    • Survivor 48: Eva found the advantage and Kamilla won the challenge.
    • Survivor 49: Sophi found the advantage and Savannah won the challenge.

Immunity Challenge #2 – “Debby Spoon”

  • Variations of this challenge have been used in Philippines, Cagayan, San Juan del Sur, Millennials vs. Gen X, Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, David vs. Goliath, Edge of Extinction, Island of the Idols, Survivor 43, and Survivor 48.
    • Kyle is the only player to win this challenge and win the season.
  • Dee and Rachel are the only new era winners who won the final immunity challenge and went on to win the season.
  • Only people with “S” names won individual immunity challenges this season.
    • Savannah, Sophi, Steven, and Sophie.
  • Survivor 49 is the first odd numbered new era season where someone who won the final individual immunity challenge had never previously won an immunity challenge.
    • Survivor 41: Xander won the final immunity challenge and the immunity challenge in episode 9
    • Survivor 43: Cassidy won the final immunity challenge and the immunity challenge in episode 10 & 12
    • Survivor 45: Dee won the final immunity challenge and the immunity challenge in episode 7 & 12
    • Survivor 47: Rachel won the final immunity challenge, and the immunity challenges in episodes 11, 12, & 13.
    • Survivor 49: Sophi won the final immunity challenge and it was her only immunity challenge win this season.

Confessionals

  • Sophi had the most confessionals this episode with 15.
  • Kristina had the lowest number of confessionals this episode with 4.
  • Savannah had the most confessionals this season with 84.
    • Rachel from Survivor 47 is currently the female record holder for most confessionals with 86.
  • This season set a record for most confessionals from women on a Survivor season with 356 total confessionals from women.
  • Savannah is the 17th winner to have the most confessionals in a season.
    • She’s the third winner in the new era to have the most confessionals after Yam Yam and Kyle.

Fifth Place – Kristina

  • Kristina was voted out 4-1.
    • She’s the fourth player this season to be voted out 4-1 after Annie, MC, and Steven.
      • Annie is the only non-Hina member to be voted out 4-1.
  • All three Hina women were voted out unanimously.
  • Kristina and Sage made it to the final 5 without receiving votes, then voted for each other at this tribal council.
  • Women placed fifth in 7 of the 9 new era seasons.
    • Ricard (Survivor 41) and Mitch (Survivor 48) are the only new era men to place fifth.
  • Kristina was the highest ranking member of the Hina tribe.

Fourth Place – Rizo

  • Rizo lost the fire making challenge against Savannah in the F4 fire making twist.
    • He’s the 18th person to be eliminated from the game (outside of a quit, removal or medevac) without a vote taking place at all.
      • Wanda and Jonathan in Palau were the first and second (not chosen during the initial schoolyard pick for tribes), Bobby Jon in Palau was the third, Devon in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers was the fourth, Angela was the fifth in Ghost Island, Kara was the sixth in David vs. Goliath, Rick was seventh in Edge of Extinction, Lauren Beck was the eighth in Island of the Idols Sarah Lacina was the ninth in Winners at War, Heather Aldret was the tenth in Survivor 41, Jonathan was the eleventh in Survivor 42, Jesse was the twelfth in Survivor 43, Carson was the thirteenth in Survivor 44, Katurah was the fourteenth in Survivor 45, Liz was the fifteenth in Survivor 46, Teeny was the sixteenth in Survivor 47, and Kamilla was the seventeenth in Survivor 48
        • Kamilla, Teeny, Liz, Katurah, Carson, Jesse, Jonathan, Heather, Lauren, Rick, Kara, Angela, Devon and Bobby Jon were eliminated due to a fire making challenge.
    • Ian Rosenberger in Palau, Brandon Hantz in Caramoan, and Jeff Varner in Game Changers were eliminated without a formal vote taking place, but were still voted out.
  • Rizo is the 21st player to lose a firemaking challenge at final 4.
  • Rizo is the 22nd castaway to be eliminated without being voted out, removed, quitting, or being medically evacuated. The others are as follows:
    • Paschal English in Marquesas – Rock draw.
    • Jonathan Libby & Wanda Shirk in Palau – not chosen for a tribe in episode 1.
    • Bobby Jon Drinkard in Palau – Fire making challenge with only 2 tribe members remaining.
    • Rupert Boneham in Blood vs. Water – swapped places with Laura B. after she was voted out.

    • Cirie Fields in Game Changers – Didn’t receive any votes, but was the only person eligible to be eliminated due to idols and advantages being played.

    • Angela Perkins in Ghost Island – Lost the F4 firemaking challenge twist.
    • Kara Kay in David vs. Goliath – Lost the F4 firemaking challenge twist.

  • Rizo is the highest ranking male player this season.
  • Rizo is the highest ranking Muslim player on Survivor.
  • Rizo is the first Albanian player on Survivor.

Third Place – Sage

  • Sage is the sixth LGBT player to finish in third place after Scout in Vanuatu, Rafe in Guatemala, Tai in Kaoh Rong, Romeo in Survivor 42, and Carolyn in Survivor 44.
  • Sage is the fifth player to receive a jury vote and finish the season in third place after Amanda in China, Missy in San Juan del Sur, Ryan in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, and Joe in Survivor 48.
  • Jawan is the fifth player to cast the sold vote for the second runner-up in a season after Erik in China, Baylor in San Juan del Sur, Devon in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, and Cedrek in Survivor 48.
  • Sage applied for Big Brother and made it to the casting finals for season 25 before being cast on Survivor.

Second Place – Sophi

  • Sophi is the first player to have the knowledge is power advantage and make it to final tribal council.
  • Sophi (like Sage) was almost cast for Big Brother.
    • She was also in casting for Edge of Extinction.
  • Sophi is the 12th runner-up to receive two votes at final tribal council after Kim J (Africa), Twila (Vanuatu), Danielle (Panama), Courtney (China), Rusell (Samoa), Sabrina (One World), Jaclyn (San Juan del Sur), Aubry (Kaoh Rong), Chrissy (Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers), Dean (Island of the Idols), and Joe (Survivor 48).
    • Russell and Dean are the only men to place second and receive two votes to win.

Winner – Savannah

  • Savannah won 5-2-1.
    • Natalie A., Ben, and Kyle also won their seasons with the same vote total.
  • The FTC vote totals for all new era seasons were either 7-1-0, 5-3-0, or 5-2-1.
    • 7-1-0: Survivor 41-44, Survivor 47
    • 5-3-0: Survivor 45 & 46
    • 5-2-1: Survivor 48 & 49
  • Savannah holds the record for most challenges won by the sole survivor in the new era with 12.
    • She also holds the new era record for most individual challenges won with 5.
      • Ricard (Survivor 41), Kyle & Rachel (Survivor 47), and Joe (Survivor 48) won 4 individual challenges in their season
  • Savannah and Dee both have a 56% voting record, voting correctly at 5 of the 9 tribal councils they attended.
  • Savannah is the second winner after Maryanne to have the extra vote advantage.
  • Savannah is the first winner to have her vote blocked at tribal council.
  • Savannah is the fourth Asian woman to win Survivor.

      • Kelly and Chrissy are the only women to win 4 individual immunity challenges and not win the season.
  • Savannah is the fourth woman to win firemaking against a man after Stephenie (Palau), Carolyn (Worlds Apart) and Heidi (Survivor 44).
  • Savannah is the second player from a “U” starting tribe to win the season after Sophie (who was on Upolu in South Pacific).
  • Savannah is the eighth winner who started on a red starting tribe after Amber in All-Stars, Chris in Vanuatu, Todd in China, JT in Tocantins, Sandra in Heroes vs. Villains, Tony in Winners at War, and Dee in Survivor 45.
  • 8 out of 19 (42.11%) red starting tribes have produced the winner of their season.

  1. Slight correction: in the Sophi section, you erroneously listed Joe getting two jury votes in S48 (that was Eva) despite already including him correctly in Sage’s one jury vote section.

  2. Kyle also won the final immunity and won the game.

    In the Sophi section you said Joe got two votes. Joe only got 1. Eva got 2

    You wrote thsr Savannah has the record of 5 individual wins. I thought she only had 4. Or do you count fire?
