Next Time On Survivor – Episode 12

Steph Lauw makes her predictions for the next episode!

CBS

Welcome to Season 48’s Next Time On Survivor weekly feature on the Inside Survivor site! If you’re new around here, I’m Steph from sunny, tropical, humid Singapore. This is a tiny space where I give my best attempts at understanding preview trailers and make my predictions for the show’s next episodes.

We’re down to the second to last episode of the season! Let’s take stock of the six remaining players. The majority alliance that has been controlling the past few episodes is Joe, Kyle, Eva, and Shauhin. Left out of this alliance is Kamilla, who is secretly working with Kyle, and Mitch. For at least two episodes now, the players at the bottom have been floating the idea of blindsiding Joe and Eva. However, they never quite followed through with their plans, and they were unable to get Shauhin or Kyle to flip.

In this episode’s NTOS trailer, there seems to be a different approach to destabilise the alliance. This time, we see players approaching Joe directly in hopes of making a move. Kyle tells Joe, “Don’t freak out, Shauhin flipped,” which clearly pisses Joe off, as seen by his annoyance in a later scene with just him and Shauhin. Separately, in another camp scene, Kamilla also tells Joe, “He showed me beads.”

Here, I’m sure Kyle and Kamilla are the “two castaways [who] orchestrate a particularly convincing ruse,” as stated in the episode description. The episodes have been constantly reminding us that they have a secret alliance and that they are each others’ number ones, even though it seems they’re in separate alliances.

I predict that Kyle and Kamilla are trying to suggest that Mitch has an advantage, something with “beads” like a hidden immunity idol. They may be trying to convince Joe (and Eva) to vote for Shauhin instead of Mitch, who seems to be the next player out of the alliance to easily vote out. By playing up that Shauhin has flipped on the majority alliance, Kyle probably aims to stir Joe up to vote out an untrustworthy alliance member.

In the trailers, we are also presented with some scenes from Joe’s perspective. He has a confessional thinking, “Something’s cooking, the question is by who?” and is seen discussing the situation with Eva. I think Joe’s definitely suspicious of Kyle and Kamilla, deciding if he should trust them or trust Shauhin.

Unfortunately for the duo, I think that Joe will end up siding with Shauhin, who has been with him and Eva since the start of the season on the Lagi tribe. I’m sure Shauhin will also be striking back hard once he catches wind that Kyle and Kamilla are throwing him under the bus. Perhaps this episode would finally confirm his suspicion about Kyle and see them parting ways for the finale episode.

Lastly, in the sneak peek scene at night, Mitch again declares in a confessional that it’s time to make a move. He talks about how he was “really adamant about getting to six,” which suggests that he’s about to get voted out this episode, at the final six, in a poetic end, regretting the many moves he wanted to make but failed to do so. As mentioned, I predict that Kamilla and Kyle won’t be successful in their calculated ruse, leaving Joe, Shauhin, and Eva to control the rest of the season.

  1. I hope you are right. Cause Mitch going is what I would like. I disagree with the plan Kyle and Kamilla are trying to pull. I think they want Eva and Joe to vote Shauhin while they and Mitch vote Joe and he goes in a 3-2-1 vote. I don’t think the plan will work and it will be Mitch there goes

  2. I actually think Kamilla goes out in this episode, since the 6th-place-vote is usually a ‘stunning’ move of the season. Like Jesse voting out Cody, or Andy going out in 47. Mitch going…doesn’t really feel like that. But Kyle betraying Kamilla, or Kyle ‘outlasting’ Kamilla, feels ‘bigger’. So I think Mitch survives and Kamilla goes instead.

  3. I hope Kamilla goes home tonight; I would actually love to see Mitch make it to the final four. Joe, Eva, Mitch and Kyle.
