Each week Inside Survivor contributor Rob Brodeur will be collecting various Survivor-related statistics and information based on the latest episode of Survivor 48.

Merge/Mergatory

  • This is the first season to have orange, green, and purple starting tribes with a blue merged tribe.
    • David vs. Goliath had orange, purple, and green pre-merge tribes with a blue merged tribe, but the green tribe (Tiva) was an expansion tribe.
    • Island of the Idols had orange and purple starting tribes, an unused green expansion tribe, and a blue merged tribe.
  • This is the first blue merged tribe since Lumuwaku in Island of the Idols.
    • It’s also the first blue merged tribe in the new era.
  • The Ika buff in Survivor 42 is the most recent blue buff that had a different accent color on it than purple, it had yellow accents.
    • The merge in Survivor 48, Tuku in Survivor 47, Belo in Survivor 45, and Coco in Survivor 43 all are blue buffs with purple accent colors.
  • The tribes merged at Lagi beach, which was also used as the merge beach in Millennials vs. Gen X, Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, David vs. Goliath, Island of the Idols, Survivor 41, Survivor 43, and Survivor 45.
    • This is the third blue merged tribe on this beach after Kalo Kalo (David vs. Goliath) and Lumuwaku (Island of the Idols).
    • Luvu in Survivor 41 is the only blue starting tribe to have their camp be on this beach.

Reward/Immunity Challenge – “Feel the Earn/Over-Extended”

  • Both players that have won individual immunity at the final 13 of a new era season have been named Kyle.
    • Kyle Ostwald won in Survivor 47 and Kyle Fraser won in Survivor 48.
  • Variations of the immunity portion of the challenge were previously used in Samoa, South Pacific, Cambodia, Millennials vs. Gen X, Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, Ghost Island, Edge of Extinction, Winners at War, Survivor 43, Survivor 44, and Survivor 47.
    • In the 40s seasons, this challenge has only been won by a man (Tony, Owen, Brandon, Kyle O., & Kyle F.).
      • Julie in Edge of Extinction is the most recent woman to win.

Confessionals

  • David, Eva, Mitch, Sai, and Shauhin had the most confessionals this episode with 4.
  • Chrissy had the lowest number of confessionals this episode with 1.
  • Sai has the most confessionals so far this season with 46.
  • Chrissy has the lowest number of confessionals so far this season with 8.
  • This is the first time since episode 2 where everyone had at least 1 confessional.

Tribal Council

  • Charity was voted out 7-5-1.
    • This was the first 7-5-1 vote in Survivor history.
  • There was a voting triangle this episode.
    • Cedrek voted for Charity
    • Charity voted for Sai
    • Sai voted for Cedrek
  • This was the first time since the merge episode of Winners at War where every player cast a vote at the first tribal council of the individual portion of the game.
    • Survivor 41 – Sydney did not vote
    • Survivor 42 – Omar did not vote
    • Survivor 43 – Jesse & Jeanine did not vote
    • Survivor 44 – Matt did not vote
    • Survivor 45 – Austin & Kaleb did not vote
    • Survivor 46 – Hunter & Moriah did not vote
    • Survivor 47 – Kyle did not vote
  • This was the first time since the merge episode of Island of the Idols where 13 players cast a vote at tribal council during a round of voting.
  • Josh in Survivor 44 is the only man voted out on day 13 in the new era.
    • Elie, J. Maya, Moriah, Tiyanah, and Charity were all voted out on day 13.
  • Josh in Survivor 44 and Rome in Survivor 47 are the only men to be voted out during the “earn the merge” tribal council.
    • Sydney, Lydia, Elie, J. Maya, Moriah, and Charity were all voted out during these tribal councils.
  • Sai has received at least one vote at every tribal council she’s attended so far.
  • Sai tied Rory from Vanuatu for most consecutive tribals receiving votes while not being voted out with five.
    • Rory was voted out at his sixth tribal council.
  • Sai is the 10th player to receive a vote at the first four tribal councils she attended. The others are as follows:
    • Rory in Vanuatu received votes at his first six consecutive tribal councils.
    • Rudy in Borneo received votes at his first four consecutive tribal councils.
    • Sarah in Marquesas received votes at her first four consecutive tribal councils.
    • Shii Ann in Thailand received votes at her first four consecutive tribal councils.
    • Jean-Robert in Chine received votes at his first four consecutive tribal councils.
    • Chet in Micronesia received votes at his first four consecutive tribal councils.
    • Cochran in South Pacific received votes at his first four consecutive tribal councils.
    • Baylor in San Juan del Sur received votes at her first four consecutive tribal councils.
    • CeCe in Millennials vs. Gen X received votes at her first four consecutive tribal councils.
  • Charity is the first player who was voted out this season where she both had a vote and had it not be cancelled by an advantage.
    • Stephanie used her Shot in the Dark and didn’t vote.
    • Kevin’s vote for Sai was negated by her idol.
    • Justin lost his vote at the journey.
    • Thomas’ vote for Kyle was negated by his idol.
    • Bianca lost her vote at the journey.
  • Each post-swap tribe had exactly one player voted out before the official merge.
    • Civa – Bianca
    • Lagi – Charity
    • Vula – Thomas
  • Prior to the tribe swap, only original Vula members were voted out, and post tribe swap, only original Lagi members were voted out, while an original Civa member was voted out after the post-swap period.
  • Cedrek has voted for 7 out of the 17 players on this season so far.
    • He’s voted for Stephanie, Kevin, Mary, Sai, Justin, Bianca, and Charity.
    • Thomas is the only player that has been voted out that he didn’t vote for, due to him not being present at that tribal council.
  • No original Vula members have been voted out post-swap.
  • Every Vula member has had at least one vote cast against them this season.
  • This was Charity, David, Eva, and Star’s first time at tribal council this season.
  • Civa is the third starting tribe to have all of the original members make it past the pre-merge portion of the game after Tandang in Philippines and Luvu in Survivor 41.
    • All three tribes had a player voted out at the first merge/mergatory vote.
      • RC from Tandang was the player voted out at the merge in Philippines.
      • Sydney from Luvu was the player voted out at mergatory in Survivor 41
      • Charity from Civa was the player voted out at mergatory in Survivor 48.

Episode Title

  • The episode title “Doing the Damn Thing” was said by Star when talking to Cedrek.
