Immunity Challenge – “Arch Madness”

  • Yanu is the second purple tribe to lose the first two immunity challenges in a season.
    • The other is Casaya in Panama.
  • Yanu is the 7th tribe to lose the first two challenges in a 3-starting tribe season
    • Saboga in All-Stars
    • Matsing in Philippines
    • Luzon in Cagayan
    • To Tang in Kaoh Rong
    • Yase in Survivor 41
    • Lulu in Survivor 45
  • Yanu has lost every challenge they’ve participated in, while Nami has won every challenge they’ve participated in.
  • Moriah is the only player so far this season to sit out of two challenges.
    • She didn’t participate in Sweat vs. Savvy, and she sat out of this immunity challenge.
  • The puzzle in this challenge is a larger version of the puzzle used during the immunity challenge in episode 11 of Survivor 45.
    • The word that needed to be spelled in that challenge was “RESOURCEFULNESS.”
  • In both Survivor 44 and Survivor 46, the green tribe won the first two immunity challenges.
  • Both new era tribes that start with the letter “Y” lost the first two immunity challenges.
    • Yase in Survivor 41 and Yanu in Survivor 46.

Confessionals

  • Kenzie and Tiffany had the most confessionals this episode with 10.
  • Jem, Maria, Moriah, Hunter, and Liz had the least amount of confessionals with 1.
  • Tiffany has the highest confessional count so far with 19.
  • Hunter and Liz have the lowest confessional count so far with 3.

Tribal Council

  • Jess was voted out 4-1.
    • The most recent player voted out 4-1 was Ryan in Survivor 43.
  • She’s the 8th player named “Jessica” and the first Jessica to be voted out in 17th place.
    • Jessica “Flicka” Smith – Cook Islands (13th Place)
    • Jessica DeBen – Fiji (19th Place)
    • Jessica “Sugar” Kiper – Gabon (3rd Place) & Heroes vs. Villains (20th Place)
    • Jessica Lewis – Millennials vs. Gen X (10th Place)
    • Jessica “Figgy” Figueroa – Millennials vs. Gen X (15th Place)
    • Jessica Johnston – Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers (12th Place)
    • Jessica Peet – David vs Goliath (19th Place)
      • Jessica Lewis is the only player named Jessica to be on the jury.
      • Sugar is the only other Jessica to make it to the jury phase of the game, but she made it to final tribal council.
      • Jessica Johnston made it to the merge but was voted out before the jury phase started.
  • Both new era purple tribes had a man eliminated first and a woman eliminated second.
    • Tika in Survivor 44: Bruce was medevaced, then Helen was voted out.
    • Yanu in Survivor 46: Jelinsky was voted out first, and Jess was voted out second.
  • An Asian-American woman has been voted out pre-merge in every “new era” season:
    • 41: Genie
    • 42: Jenny & Swati
    • 43: Justine
    • 44: Helen
    • 45: J Maya
    • 46: Jess
      • Coincidentally, Jess and Helen are both from San Francisco and were the second player eliminated from a purple tribe.
    • Genie*, Swati, Justine, Helen, J Maya, and Jess are all from California.
      • Jenny is the only one not from California.
      • *Genie is from Portland, Oregon but her hometown is Los Angeles, California.
  • Game Changers is the most recent season to not have an Asian-American player voted out pre-merge.
    • Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers: Simone
    • Ghost Island: James
    • David vs. Goliath: Natalia
    • Edge of Extinction: No Asian-American players on the cast
    • Island of the Idols: Vince
    • Winners at War: Natalie
    • 41: Genie

  • Q is the only man on Yanu without any votes against him.
  • Survivor 43 is the only season in the “new era” where no tribe lost two people within the first two episodes.

    • 42: Taku lost Jackson & Marya in the first two episodes.
    • 44: Tika lost Bruce & Helen in the first two episodes
    • 45: Lulu lost Hannah & Brandon in the first two episodes
    • 46: Yanu lost Jelinsky & Jess in the first two episodes
  • In all six “new era” seasons so far, at least one tribe has never gone to tribal council within the first two episodes.
    • 41: Luvu didn’t attend tribal council in the first two episodes.
    • 42: Vati didn’t attend tribal council in the first two episodes.
    • 43: Coco didn’t attend tribal council in the first two episodes.
    • 44: Soka didn’t attend tribal council in the first two episodes.
    • 45: Reba & Belo didn’t attend tribal council in the first two episodes.
    • 46: Nami & Siga didn’t attend tribal council in the first two episodes.

Ratings

Episode Title

  • The episode title “Scorpio Energy” was said by Ben after Jeff cut the makeshift Nami buff off the immunity idol at the immunity challenge.

Survivor Birthdays

  • This week’s episode aired on Sabrina Thompson (One World), Patrick Bolton, Lauren Rimmer, Devon Pinto (Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers), and Jess Chong’s (Survivor 46) birthday.
    • The episode where Jess was voted out aired on her birthday. Ryan Aiken (The Amazon) and David Samson (Cagayan) were also voted out in episodes that aired on their birthday. Eden Porter from the current season of Australian Survivor also shares this distinction.
