Each week Inside Survivor contributor Rob Brodeur will be collecting various Survivor-related statistics and information based on the latest episode of Survivor 45.
The Summit
- This was the first Summit where nobody from the original Lulu tribe was present.
- Both times the advantage amulet was in the game, it was held by two women and one man.
- Survivor 42: Hai, Drea, & Lindsay.
- Survivor 45: Austin, J. Maya, & Kellie.
Hidden Immunity Idols/Advantages
- Belo is the only tribal idol that wasn’t found during the pre-merge portion of the game.
- Brando revealed in post-game interviews that he received an advantage in his buff at the tribe swap but never got the chance to read it due to production taking it away when he got back to the Belo beach.
- He thinks it was probably specific to the tribe swap, and once he got back to the beach, it was voided.
- All even-numbered new era seasons had the Shot in the Dark be played multiple times in the pre-merge portion, while the odd-numbered seasons didn’t have anyone use their’s pre-merge.
- Survivor 41 & Survivor 43 had one SITD played after the pre-merge.
- Survivor 42 & Survivor 44 had three played in the pre-merge portion of the game.
- Survivor 45: Nobody has played theirs yet.
Immunity Challenge “Knock One Back”
- This challenge has previously been used in South Pacific, Millennials vs. Gen X, Game Changers, David vs. Goliath, Edge of Extinction, Island of the Idols, Winners at War, Survivor 41, and Survivor 42.
- South Pacific and Winners at War are the only seasons where the eventual winner of the season didn’t win this challenge.
- However, Cochran went on to win Caramoan, and Winners at War was a cast full of winners, so every time this challenge was used, at least one Sole Survivor won it.
- South Pacific and Winners at War are the only seasons where the eventual winner of the season didn’t win this challenge.
- This is the first time Belo lost an immunity challenge.
- Belo is the first new era blue tribe to lose this challenge.
- Luvu won in Survivor 41 and Ika won in Survivor 42.
- Belo is the third blue tribe to lose this challenge after Upolu in South Pacific and Nuku in Game Changers.
Tribal Council
- Brando was voted out 3-2 on day 11.
- He’s the first Belo member to be voted out.
- Reba is the only starting tribe to not lose any original members yet.
- Genie in Survivor 41 is the only woman to be eliminated on day 11 in the new era.
- Survivor 42: Daniel was voted out.
- Survivor 43: Geo was voted out.
- Survivor 44: Matthew was medevaced/quit.
- Survivor 45: Brando was voted out.
- Brando is the only player not on Lulu to be eliminated in the pre-merge portion of the game.
- Every “Brandon” who played Survivor has been the first man voted out of a tribe except for Brandon in Africa. (He was, however, the first man that was on the post-swap Samburu tribe to be voted out during the merge).
- Brandon Bellinger was the first man from Xhakum voted out in Guatemala.
- Brandon Hantz was the first man from both Upolu and Bikal to be voted out in South Pacific and Caramoan, respectively.
- Brandon Cottom was the first man from Ratu voted out in Survivor 44.
- Brandon Donlon was the first man voted out from Lulu, and Brandon “Brando” Meyer was the first man voted out from Belo in Survivor 45.
- Both players that received votes in this episode are the same age (23) and were the youngest players on their original starting tribe.
- Sean was the only player voted out during the pre-merge phase who wasn’t voted out of his original starting tribe.
- This was the first time any Belo members lost the immunity challenge and went to tribal council.
- According to interviews, there was an unaired twist where Kendra was present at Lulu’s first tribal, so this is Brando’s first time at tribal.
- Belo is the only original starting tribe where everybody hasn’t been to at least one tribal council.
- Reba: J Maya, Dee, Julie, & Sifu went in episode 4, and Austin and Drew went in episode 5
- Lulu: Everyone went to the first three tribals.
- Belo: Only Kendra and Brando have attended tribal.
- Bruce, Jake, Katurah, and Kellie haven’t attended tribal yet.
- Emily has been to every tribal council so far except for episode 4 and has voted correctly at every tribal council she’s attended.
Confessionals
- Austin had the most confessionals this episode with 9.
- Bruce had the least amount of confessionals with 1.
- Emily has the most total confessionals with 32.
- J. Maya, Sifu, and Bruce have the lowest total confessional count with 9.
- This is the first time since episode 2 that everyone had at least 1 confessional.
Episode Title
- The episode title, “I Don’t Want to Be the Worm,” was said by Kendra about not wanting to be the target at the upcoming vote.
- She’s the first non-Lulu member to have an episode title this season.
Ratings
- The fifth episode received 5.031 million viewers and 0.73 in the Adults 18-49 demo.
Survivor Birthdays
- This episode aired on Lauren O’Connell from Edge of Extinction and Liana Wallace from Survivor 41 birthday.
