Each week Inside Survivor contributor Rob Brodeur will be collecting various Survivor-related statistics and information based on the latest episode of Survivor 45.

Tribe Swap

  • This is the first tribe swap since Winners at War where everyone participated in the swap.
    • This was the first official tribe swap in the new era.
    • It’s the first time since Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers where three tribes swapped into three tribes.
  • All three remaining Lulu members were swapped to different tribes.
    • Emily – Belo
    • Sean – Reba
    • Kaleb – Lulu
  • Bruce ended up on the former Tika beach when he was swapped to Lulu.
  • Reba is the first tribe since Soko in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers to make it to the tribe swap without losing any challenge.
    • Coincidentally, both post-swap Soko and Reba lost the first challenge they competed in.

Immunity Challenge: “Cage Against the Machine”

  • This challenge was previously used in Island of the Idols.
    • Both tribes that lost this challenge (Vokai in Islands of the Idols and Reba in Survivor 45) had a tribal council where the player that was voted out was done in an unconventional way.
      • In Island of the Idols, Jason was voted out after his vote was blocked by Elaine.
      • In Survivor 45, Sean was voted out after telling his tribe he wanted to leave the game
  • Sean lost every immunity challenge he competed in this season.
    • This is the first immunity challenge that Kaleb and Emily won.
    • It’s also the first immunity challenge that the Lulu tribe won and the first challenge that the Reba tribe lost.
  • Belo has won every immunity challenge this season so far.

Tribal Council

  • Sean was voted out 3-1-1.
    • There have been five players voted out 3-1-1. Shane in Panama, Aaron in China, Natalia in David vs. Goliath, Justine in Survivor 43, and Sean in Survivor 45.
      • Shane is the only player voted out 3-1-1 during the post-merge and the only player to not be on an orange or red tribe when voted out.
        • Shane was, however, on an orange tribe during the pre-merge of Panama.
  • There was a voting triangle in this episode.
    • Dee voted for Sifu
    • Sifu voted for Sean
    • Sean voted for Dee
  • Sean is the first person on Survivor named Sean to not make it to the merge.
    • Sean Kenniff in Borneo and Sean Rector in Marquesas made it to the merge.
      • Shawn (who spelled his name differently) from Pearl Islands was voted out pre-merge.
  • Sean is the first player named Sean to play Survivor in 41 seasons.
  • Sean is the first man to be voted out on day 9 since JD in Survivor 41.
  • All three LGBTQ Mormon men who played Survivor were on red tribes at some point during their season.
    • Rafe in Guatemala was on a red merged tribe.
    • Todd in China was on a red starting tribe.
    • Sean in Survivor 45 was swapped to a red tribe.
      • Coincidentally, all three weren’t on the same type of tribe; Todd started on a red tribe, Sean was swapped to one, and Rafe was on the merged one.
  • This was the first tribal council this season where everyone at tribal council cast a vote.
  • Dee is the only player who is still in the game and has voted for someone who’s still in the game (she voted for Sifu at tribal council).
    • Sean, who had voted for Kaleb and Dee, is no longer in the game.
  • This is the first time that Dee, J Maya, Julie, and Sifu cast a vote.
  • Belo is the only tribe to not attend tribal council this season.
    • Belo is also the only original starting tribe to not have any members lose a challenge and have to vote someone out at tribal council.
      • Lulu lost all pre-swap immunity challenges and Reba (which contains no original Belo members) lost the post-swap one.
  • Lulu is the only tribe to lose any players so far this season.
  • Lulu is the eighth starting tribe to have four original members eliminated before the other rival tribes lost any members. The others are as follows:
    • Maraamu in Marquesas: Peter, Patricia, Hunter, & Sarah
    • Ulong in Palau: Jolanda, Ashlee, Jeff, & Kim
    • Foa Foa in Samoa: Marisa, Mike, Betsy, & Ben
    • Matsing in Philippines: Zane, Roxy, Angie, & Russell
    • Ta Keo in Cambodia: Vytas, Shirin, Peih-Gee, & Jeff
    • Mana in Game Changers: Ciera, Tony, Caleb, & Malcolm
    • Manu in Edge of Extinction: Reem, Keith, Chris, Rick
  • Lulu is the fifth starting tribe to go down to two original members during the pre-merge portion of the game. The others are as follows:
    • Saboga in All-Stars
    • Ulong in Palau
    • Matsing in Philippines
    • Ua in Survivor 41
      • Lulu had this happen after a tribe swap since Sean was voted out when he was on the Reba tribe.
  • Emily is the only Lulu member without any votes against her.

Confessionals

  • Sean had the most confessionals this episode with 9.
  • Brando and Kendra had 0 confessionals this episode.
    • This is Brando’s second episode in a row without a confessional.
  • Katurah had the first confessional in Survivor history without any words being spoken.
  • Kaleb and Emily are tied for most confessionals with 25.
  • Brando and J.Maya are tied for the fewest number of confessionals with 5.

Ratings

Episode Title

  • The episode title “Music to My Ears” was said by all three former Lulu members.
    • Emily’s version of it was, “It’s music to a girl’s ears.”
  • All four episode titles so far have been said by Lulu members.
  • Every original Lulu member said at least one episode title this season.
    • Episode 1: “We Can Do Hard Things” was said by both Hannah and Brandon.
    • Episode 2: “Brought a Bazooka to a Tea Party” was said by Emily.
    • Episode 3: “No Man Left Behind” was said by Sabiyah.
    • Episode 4: “Music to My Ears” was said by Emily, Kaleb, and Sean.
