Each week Inside Survivor contributor Rob Brodeur will be collecting various Survivor-related statistics and information based off the latest episode of Survivor 44.

Reward Challenge: “Air Raid”

  • Soka won the reward challenge.
    • They’ve come in first for both reward challenges so far this season.
  • Ratu came in second place.
    • They came in second place for both reward challenges so far this season.
  • Tika has lost the reward challenge both times this season.
  • Variations of this challenge have previously been used in Worlds Apart, Cambodia, Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, and Ghost Island.
    • Both times a green tribe competed in this challenge they won (Ta Keo & Soka).

Immunity Challenge: “Leap of Faith”

  • All three tribes came in the same place for the reward challenge and immunity challenge.
    • Soka first, Ratu second, and Tika last.
  • Josh and Carson are the only players to both win and lose a challenge this episode.
    • Josh won the reward but lost the immunity, while Carson lost the reward but won the immunity.
      • This is due to them swapping tribes between challenges.
  • Jaime is the only swapped player to win both challenges in this episode.
  • Tika is the only tribe that hasn’t had to sit a member out during a challenge.
  • Variations of this challenge have previously been used in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, David vs. Goliath, and Island of the Idols.
    • When being used for tribal immunity, this challenge has only been played by green, purple and orange tribes.
      • Island of the Idols : Vokai (purple) vs. Lairo (orange).
      • Survivor 44: Soka (green) vs. Ratu (orange) vs. Tika (purple).

Tribe Swap/Switch

  • This is the first time anyone has swapped tribes since Winners at War.
    • It’s tied with Gabon to Nicaragua for the longest gap of seasons between tribe swaps.
  • This is the first season where only one person has been swapped from each tribe (this doesn’t include mutinies or tribe absorptions).
  • This season holds the record for fewest number of players swapping tribes with 3.
    • The previous record holders were Vanuatu and China who had 4 players swap tribes.
  • This season holds the record for lowest percentage of players switching tribes with 3 out of 14 switching (21%).
    • The previous record was held by Vanuatu where 4 out of 13 players switched tribes (31%).
  • This is the first season where a tribe swap occurred on day 8.
  • Soka, Tika, and Ratu are tied with Casaya (Panama) and Escameca & Nagarote (Worlds Apart) for losing the least number of players during a tribe swap with only 1 original tribe member being placed on a different tribe after the swap.
    • Soka: Josh went to Tika
    • Ratu: Jaime went to Soka
    • Tika: Carson went to Ratu
    • Casaya: Ruth Marie went to La Mina
    • Escameca: Kelly went to Nagarote
    • Nagarote: Joe went to Escameca
  • This is the second season where a tribe swap occurred after a reward challenge but before the following immunity challenge.
    • The first season this happened in was All-Stars
  • Lauren is the only woman on Ratu after the swap.
  • Sarah is the only non-LGBTQ+ player on Tika.

Confessionals

  • Josh had the most confessionals this episode with 7.
  • Kane and Lauren had 0 confessionals this episode.
  • Carolyn has the most confessionals so far with 20.
  • Heidi has the least confessionals so far with 7.

Hidden Immunity Idol/Advantage

  • This is the most idols that have been in play at one time.
    • 6 players had idols in play this episode up until Josh played his at tribal.
  • Sarah is the first player to be voted out while in possession of the Inheritance Advantage.

Tribal Council

  • Sarah was voted out 2-0.
    • She’s the second player to be idoled out this season after Maddy.
    • Both players that have been idoled out this season were the youngest woman on their tribe.
  • Everybody this season has been eliminated with a different number of votes.
    • Bruce: 0 votes
    • Maddy: 1 vote
    • Sarah: 2 votes
    • Helen: 3 votes
    • Claire: 4 votes
      • This previously happened in Philippines where the first five players eliminated had different vote counts (5,4,3,2,0).
  • Sarah is the second player to be voted out 2-0 after a 2-2 tied vote where someone played an idol.
    • The first was Alan Ball in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers when Joe played an idol on himself.
  • Sarah didn’t cast a single correct vote this season.
    • She wasn’t able to vote at the first tribal council Tika attended, and her vote in this episode was nullified by an idol.
  • Sarah Lacina (Cagayan, Game Changers, Winners at War) is the only Sarah/Sara to make the merge on Survivor.
    • Sarah Jones – 13th Place – Marquesas
    • Sarah Dawson – 13th Place – Philippines
    • Sara Wilson – 17th Place – Survivor 41
    • Sarah Wade – 14th Place – Survivor 44
  • Out of 21 possible votes cast this season, only 11 have counted.
    • 4 were nullified by idols
    • 6 were votes lost by players due to Shot in the Dark plays or Summit outcomes.
  • Frannie is the only player to be the youngest woman on her tribe and not be voted out yet.
    • Maddy was the youngest woman on Ratu.
    • Sarah was the youngest woman on Tika.
  • JD in Survivor 41 is the only man in the “new era” to be voted out on day 9.
    • Survivor 42 – Swati
    • Survivor 43 – Lindsay
    • Survivor 44 – Sarah
  • This is the first episode this season where everyone on the tribe cast a vote at tribal council.
  • Carolyn is the only player still in the game with votes cast against her that weren’t negated by a hidden immunity idol.
    • Tribal council #1: Maddy & Kane’s votes for Brandon were negated by a hidden immunity idol.
    • Tribal council #3: Claire lost her vote and everyone else voted for her.
    • Tribal council #4: Sarah & Yam Yam’s votes for Josh were negated by a hidden immunity idol.
  • Tika is the only tribe so far where nobody has used their Shot in the Dark.
  • With Sarah being voted out, Tika is the first tribe to be completely made up of openly LGBTQ+ players.
  • This is the sixth Survivor season where the first four players to be voted out are women.
    • Panama: Tina, Melinda, Misty & Ruth-Marie
    • Fiji: Jessica, Erica, Sylvia & Lilliana
    • Gabon: Michelle, Gillian, Paloma, & Jacquie
    • Caramoan: Francesca, Allie, Hope, & Laura
    • 43: Morriah, Justine, Nneka, & Lindsay
    • 44: Maddy, Helen, Claire, & Sarah
      • Every previous season where the first four players voted out were women, a man won the season.
        • Aras, Earl, Bob, Cochran, and Gabler.

Ratings

Episode Title

  • The episode title “I’m Felicia” was said by Carolyn at tribal council after Yam Yam said “bye Felicia” and Jeff asked who he was referring to.
