Small Update On Filming and Location For Survivor Seasons 41/42

It has been a stop-and-start struggle for Survivor ever since the coronavirus pandemic caused a production shutdown last March. However, things finally seem to be moving in a forward direction, with the show looking to get back up and running in the next couple of months.

According to Inside Survivor sources, the proposed filming dates are April for season 41 and June for season 42. Obviously, given the current state of the world, things can still change, but this is the plan the production team currently has in place.

In terms of location, we’ve been told that Survivor will remain in Fiji. While other countries, specifically in the Caribbean, were looked into, the belief is that the production team struck a deal with the Fijian government to allow cast and crew special access into the country.

The exact details of COVID-19 safety guidelines that Survivor will have to follow are currently unknown, though, last year, Fiji’s Prime Minister, Frank Bainimarama, detailed several protocols future film productions must abide by while on location.

“Cast and crew won’t even be allowed to board their plane without proof of a negative COVID-19 test and will be screened for symptoms both before boarding and upon landing,” explained Bainimarama. “They’ll then be entered into government-designated quarantine — whether that’s a preapproved hotel or a remote isolated island — for the mandatory 14-day period.”

The final casts for these seasons are being decided within the next couple of weeks. Several rounds of casting finals took place late last year (all online) with new applicants. Meanwhile, some of the finalists who were in the mix pre-pandemic will have to redo their psych evaluations to ensure they’re still fit to compete.

As for the previous rumor of CBS wanting to film three seasons this year, that doesn’t look to be going ahead. Filming for seasons 41 and 42 is all that is on the table at the minute, with casting for season 43 pushed back until at least August 2021.

  1. Alrighty… S43 and S44 applicants… If we submitted last year, I imagine we’d apply again unless they don’t dump what they have. Longest off season ever…

  2. Is there a set date as to when it will return ? I was so sad when I found out that it was put on hold because of the Pandemic. I so happy its coming back. I love this show

    • Nothing confirmed yet. But if they manage to film as planned in April, then I suspect S41 will air around September.

  3. I can’t imagine why they would (want to) wait until April to film! I don’t want to hear (or read) that it “was planned to be in the spring” because that is nonsense to me when other versions have ALREADY been filming yet they are (just) sitting on their butts!

      • because they are too outdated, Fiji has made them lose their minds and moreover this location has become too easy because now the candidates know the place, it is no longer Survivor, they are vacationers, all that is missing is ‘a cocktail and a long chain, the challenges are always the same, they can’t be reinvented. He should go to a harder place so that the candidates drool a bit.

      • Why do you always accuse me of being angry? Rather you like it or not, I tell the truth – a lot of people can’t handle the truth but I tell it like it is regardless of what you think.

        • Because I don’t think I’ve ever seen you post a positive comment ever. Not even sure why post here or watch a show that seems to cause you so much misery.

          • Apparently you only pay attention to the stuff that angers me because I actually HAVE posted positive stuff before….when you’v posted (positive) stuff I like. But when was the last time YOU’VE done that? Don’t blame me that I speak my mind (& tell the truth) when you post the stuff! Hell, I’’d think you’d appreciate the “hits” to your website yet all you do is attack me for coming. What do you think that tells me? Talk about being rude….

          • When was the last time I’ve posted something positive? For the past year I’ve been posting 20 Years of Survivor celebratory posts, Best Season posts, and 100 Best Episode posts. Never see you there though, you only turn up to complain about something. I just find it very odd behavior.

  4. I love suvior it cool how
They argue and sneack around but in the long run they all come together as one big family

  5. The greatest news ever. In this trying times we in Fiji are so happy of the news, quiet simply because of what the survivor dollar has helped us in many ways. The education of our children, our families daily lives and so on.
    Bring it on.

  6. I can’t wait to see the same beach and campsite over and over again with a male winning and a female goat <3 I missed this show
