Welcome to Season 50’s Next Time On Survivor weekly feature on the Inside Survivor site! If you’re new around here, I’m Steph from sunny, tropical, humid Singapore. This is a tiny space where I give my best attempts at understanding preview trailers and make my predictions for the show’s next episodes.
For the last time this season, let’s get into the preview trailers! Amidst the soundbites hyping viewers up for an exciting finale episode, Jonathan drops an interesting “if she wins, we’re screwed”. This could refer to either Tiffany or Aubry, the two remaining women left in the final five. I’m highly certain he’s referring to Tiffany, especially after last week’s immunity challenge, where the players teamed up against her to solve the puzzle.
Jonathan also had some moments in previous episodes connecting with Aubry, suggesting that they could work together down the line. As such, I believe Jonathan and the remaining players he’s aligned with will be targeting Tiffany in the coming episode, sensing she’s a challenge threat who might win her way to the final tribal council, and a threat to win jury votes if she reaches the end.
In a sneak peek preview scene from after last week’s tribal council, Rizo echoes this sentiment, emphasising that he needs to make sure that Tiffany doesn’t progress further in the game. After Cirie’s elimination, which was orchestrated by all except her, Tiffany is upset and doesn’t want to talk to the rest of the players. At this point, it’s clear she’s working alone and will have to rely on herself to survive the next vote. Although she’s won challenges before, I do think it’s unlikely she wins another to keep her safe. I predict she’s getting voted out as long as she doesn’t earn immunity next week—she’s too much of a foil to the other remaining players.
The episode title “Reverse the Curse” sheds some light on what’s to come. I think it alludes to Aubry righting her wrong from Survivor Kaoh Rong and finally achieving the win. This has been brought up a few times over the course of Survivor 50, where she mentioned the mistakes she made that cost her the game years ago. Specifically, Aubry has pointed out that this time she needs to bring the right people to the end. I think this suggests she’ll bring Jonathan and Joe to the end, as she probably sees Rizo as having more connections to players on the jury who may vote for him over her. We’ll probably hear some confessionals from Aubry talking about how she won’t make the same mistake bringing such a socially connected player to the final tribal council with her again.
I considered that the “Reverse the Curse” episode title might be a reference to Rizo as well. With his immunity idol, he’s guaranteed to make it to the final four fire-making challenge, where he was taken out in his last season. Perhaps the episode title is something he says he’ll do to stop the same outcome from happening again. However, while this may be the case, I still think the Aubry win is pretty obvious, given the many unmistakable confessionals that imply it.
