Each week Inside Survivor contributor Rob Brodeur will be collecting various Survivor-related statistics and information based on the latest episode of Survivor 49.
Tribe Swap
- This is the sixth season to have more than one tribe switch occur.
- All-Stars: Saboga was absorbed on day 13, and Mogo Mogo & Chapera swapped on day 22.
- Cook Islands: Puka Puka & Manihiki were disbanded on day 7, and there was a mutiny on day 20 where Candice and Jonathan swapped from Aitutaki to Rarotonga.
- Gabon: Fang & Kota swapped on day 10 and day 22.
- Cambodia: Angkor was added on day 7, then was absorbed by Ta Keo and Bayon on day 14.
- Game Changers: Tavua was added on day 7, then was absorbed by Mana & Nuku on day 14.
- Ghost Island: Malolo & Naviti swapped on day 7, then Yanuya was added on day 15.
- Survivor 49: Uli was absorbed by Kele & Hina on day 7, then Uli was reformed on day 11.
- Uli is the first tribe in Survivor history to return to the game after being dissolved/absorbed.
- This is the first season to have tribes swap from three to two, then back to three.
- Jawan, Kristina, and Sophie have been on all three pre-merge tribes. They’re the 8th, 9th, & 10th players to be on all three pre-merge tribes in a season. The others are as follows:
- Jenna, Jerri, & Rupert in All-Stars
- Andrew Savage in Cambodia
- Cirie in Game Changers
- Laurel & Sebastian in Ghost Island
Hidden Immunity Idol/Advantage
- Sophi found the Knowledge is Power advantage.
- She’s the first player to find the advantage at a pre-merge tribe camp. All previous Knowledge is Power advantages were either earned at a journey or found at the merge camp.
- MC is the second player to make it to the merge portion of the game with an unclaimed idol from a beware advantage.
- The first person to have this happen is Hunter in Survivor 46.
Reward Challenge – “Panic at the Disc Throw”
- Hina came in first for both reward challenges they competed in this season.
- The challenge name is a play on the band name “Panic at the Disco.”
Immunity Challenge – “Let It Slide”
- Variations of this challenge were used in Tocantins, Redemption Island, South Pacific, Blood vs. Water, Worlds Apart, Kaôh Rōng, Survivor 45, Survivor 46, and Survivor 47.
- This is the first season that the challenge was used as a tribal immunity challenge.
- Every time three tribes competed this season, Hina and Uli won while Kele lost.
- Furthermore, Hina has always come in first, Uli has always come in second, and Kele has always lost.
- Every time two tribes competed this season, Kele won and Hina lost.
- Uli is the only tribe to not lose an immunity challenge
- MC, Kristina, & Sophie haven’t lost a challenge this season.
- MC is the first player in Survivor history whose tribe came in 1st place in every challenge they competed in.
- Uli is the fifth tribe to make it to the merge and never lose a pre-merge immunity challenge. The others are as follows:
- Tandang in Philippines
- Kama in Edge of Extinction
- Nami in Survivor 46
- Lagi in Survivor 49.
- Uli however was disbanded for episodes 4 & 5, whereas the other 4 were intact until the merge.
Confessionals
- Sage had the highest number of confessionals this episode with 6.
- Kristina & MC had 1 confessional this episode.
- Savannah currently has the most confessionals with 38.
- Sophie has the lowest confessional count with 7.
Tribal Council
- Shannon was voted out 3-1.
- She’s the first Uli member to be voted out. She’s also the only Uli member to be voted out pre-merge.
- Episode 4 is the only episode this season that didn’t have a unanimous vote.
- Both players named Shannon were voted out pre-merge.
- Shannon Elkins in Nicaragua.
- Shannon Fairweather in Survivor 49.
- Shannon is the latest new era player to be voted out pre-merge/mergatory, being voted out on day 12.
- Shannon and Rome (Survivor 47) are the only new era players to be voted out on day 12.
- Both players started the season on a red tribe.
- Only original Uli members received votes in this episode.
- The only players that currently have votes against them are from Kele or Uli.
- Both Hina players that have been eliminated are the only Hina players with votes against them.
- The only players that currently have votes against them only have 1 vote each.
- Shannon is the first player this season to be eliminated from a tribe that she didn’t start the season on.
- Nicole, Annie, Jake, & Jeremiah were eliminated from Kele.
- Matt & Jason were eliminated from Hina.
- This is the first time Sophi didn’t attend tribal council this season.
- Coincidentally, her starting tribe, Kele, is the one that lost the challenge.
- This was Sage, Shannon, & Steven’s first time at tribal council this season.
- MC, Kristina, & Sophie still haven’t attended tribal council.
- Each starting tribe lost members at different stages of the pre-merge.
- During the original tribes, only original Kele members were eliminated,
- During the first set of swap tribes, only original Hina members were eliminated.
- After the second swap an original Uli member was eliminated.
- Jawan didn’t attend tribal council pre-swap, and attended every tribal council post-swap, while Alex attended every tribal council pre-swap, and didn’t attend any of the post-swap tribal councils.
Episode Title
- The episode title “The Devil’s Shoes” was said by Rizo talking about the snorkeling flippers when he went out to fish.
- Alex is still the only non-Uli member to have an episode title so far this season.
- Nobody from Hina has had an episode title yet.
