Each week Inside Survivor contributor Rob Brodeur will be collecting various Survivor-related statistics and information based on the latest episode of Survivor 47.

Season

  • This is the first season since Winners at War to have 14 episodes (reunion not included) in a season.
    • It’s the first all-newbie season since Kaoh Rong with 14 episodes.
  • Caroline is the only player during the jury phase of the game to never participate in a reward (not including the auction).
  • This is the first season where the finale will have no elimination votes.
  • Every new era season had at least one LGBTQ+ player make it to the finale.
    • Survivor 41: Erika, DeShawn, & Ricard
    • Survivor 42: Romeo
    • Survivor 43: Cassidy & Karla
    • Survivor 44: Yam Yam & Carolyn
    • Survivor 45: Katurah
    • Survivor 46: Kenzie
    • Survivor 47: Teeny
  • This is the fourth season of Survivor, in which the men never outnumbered the women at any point in the season. The other three seasons where this happened are Marquesas, Vanuatu, and Micronesia.

Hidden Immunity Idol/Advantage

  • Rachel is the first player since Julie in Survivor 45 to play an idol and negate a majority of votes against her.
    • Both players eliminated by these idols (Andy & Emily) were the planmakers for a “big move” in the previous episode and were eliminated right after.
  • Every player that used a hidden immunity idol this season played it for themselves.
    • Rome, Gabe, Rachel, and Sue played an idol on themselves.
      • Teeny had the amulet advantage along with Andy and Caroline that acted as an idol, and it was used on Teeny.
  • Sam is the only player to possess a hidden immunity idol this season and not use it.
    • He’s the first player since Carson and Jaime in Survivor 44 to have a hidden immunity idol, not use it, and not be voted out.
  • All three vote blocker advantages have been held by women and used on men.
    • Jessica used hers on Devon in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers.
    • Elaine used hers on Jason in Island of the Idols.
    • Rachel used hers on Sam in Survivor 47.
      • Both Jessica and Rachel started the season on a yellow tribe, which had a red and blue tribe as the other starting tribes, and then merged on a purple tribe.

Immunity Challenge #1 – “Chasing Waterfalls”

  • Variations of this challenge were previously used in Vanuatu, Heroes vs. Villains, Philippines, Blood vs. Water, Worlds Apart, Millennials vs. Gen X, Survivor 42, and Survivor 43.
    • Both women who won this challenge individually (Ciera & Genevieve) started on red tribes (Tadhana & Lavo) and won the challenge while on a purple merged tribe (Kasama & Beka).

Immunity Challenge #2 – “Stacked Up”

  • Variations of this challenge were previously used in Kaoh Rong, Ghost Island, and Survivor 45.
    • Domenick is the only man to win this challenge.
      • Michele, Dee, and Rachel won in their seasons.
    • All three players who previously won this challenge made it to the final tribal council and received five votes to win.
      • Domenick is the only one of the three to not win.
    • This was the first time this challenge wasn’t used as the final challenge of a season.
  • Rachel is tied with Maria (Survivor 46), Dee (Survivor 45), Cassidy (Survivor 43), and Lindsay (Survivor 42) for most individual immunity challenges won by a woman in a new era season with three.
    • Both Rachel and Maria won their three immunity challenges before the final episode.
  • Rachel has been immune for the past four tribal councils.
    • She won immunity twice, saved herself with an idol, and then won immunity again.
      • Mike Holloway (Worlds Apart) is the only other player in Survivor history to do this.

Confessionals

  • Rachel had the most confessionals this episode with 16.
  • Andy had the lowest number of confessionals this episode with 5.
  • Sam has the highest confessional total of the season for remaining players with 83.
    • Sam currently has more confessionals than the highest confessional holders in 39 seasons.
      • The only players to have more confessionals in a season are Richard in Borneo (91), Colby in The Australian Outback (96), Rob C. in The Amazon (94), Russell in Samoa (108), Rob M. in Redemption Island (89), Tony in Cagayan (90), and Charlie in Survivor 46 (84)
  • Sue has the lowest confessional total of the season for the remaining players with 50.
  • As of this episode, there are a total of 700 confessionals this season.

Tribal Council #1

  • Andy was voted out 2-0.
    • Rachel played her idol and negated three votes against her.
  • Andy is the first non-Tuku member to be voted out since Sol in episode 9.
  • Andy is the first LGBTQ+ male to place 6th.
    • Three other LGBTQ+ players placed 6th and they were all women.
      • Ami Cusack in Vanuatu.
      • Parvati Shallow in Cook Islands.
      • Shambo Waters in Samoa.
  • Rachel received her first votes this episode, however all three were nullified.
  • Sam is the highest-ranking man from Gata and the highest-ranking man this season.

Tribal Council #2

  • Genevieve was voted out 3-2.
    • Both initial votes in this episode were 3-2.
      • For vote #1, there were six people, but Sam’s vote was blocked
      • For vote #2, there were five people.
  • Genevieve is the highest-ranking Canadian player not to win the game.
    • Erika (Survivor 41) & Maryanne (Survivor 42) won their seasons.
    • Omar (Survivor 42) placed 6th.
    • Venus (Survivor 46) placed 7th.
    • Shan (Survivor 41) placed 8th.
    • Kane (Survivor 44) placed 9th.
    • Kaleb (Survivor 45) placed 11th.
    • Tom (Island of the Idols) placed 16th.
    • Jess (Survivor 46) placed 17th.
  • Genevieve and Teeny are the only players in this episode who were at both tribal councils but didn’t cast a vote for either of the players that went home.
    • Sam voted out Genevieve.
    • Sue voted out Andy & Genevieve.
    • Rachel voted out Andy & Genevieve.
      • Genevieve and Teeny both voted for Rachel at the first tribal council and Sam at the second tribal council.
  • Sue and Teeny are the only players who didn’t receive votes in this episode.
  • Teeny is the last remaining member of Lavo.
    • They’re the first non-binary player to be the highest-ranking member of their tribe.
  • Sam is the only player this season with a perfect voting record.
    • Sierra and Andy are the only players who were voted out at tribal councils he attended, but he didn’t vote out. This is due to him not having a vote at either tribal council.
      • Coincidentally, both Sierra and Andy were on the same starting tribe as him.
  • All three times Rachel won individual immunity, Genevieve received votes at tribal council.
    • Also, the one time that Genevieve won individual immunity, Rachel received votes at tribal council.
  • Teeny voted incorrectly at the past three tribals in a row.
    • In the new era, Xander (Survivor 41), Lauren (Survivor 44), Austin (Survivor 45), and Venus (Survivor 46) also voted incorrectly for three episodes in a row.
  • Teeny has cast five “incorrect” votes this season (the person they cast a vote for didn’t go home at that tribal council), which ties for most in the new era with Xander (Survivor 41), Lauren (Survivor 44), and Dee (Survivor 45).
    • Three of the incorrect votes were for Sam (Episodes 8, 12, and 13).
  • Rachel was safe for 5/9 of the post-merge tribal councils.
    • Episode 7: She used Safety Without Power and was immune.
    • Episode 11 & 12: She won individual immunity.
    • Episode 13: She used her hidden immunity idol at one tribal council and won immunity for the other one.

Ratings

Episode Title

  • The episode title “Bob & Weave” was said by Teeny when reading the treemail message about the immunity challenge.
    • This is the first time since episode 7 that Andy didn’t have the episode title.
