Each week Inside Survivor contributor Rob Brodeur will be collecting various Survivor-related statistics and information based off the latest episode of Survivor 43.


  • Gaia is the 22nd green tribe in Survivor.
    • It’s the 7th green merged tribe. The others are as follows:
      • Rattana in Borneo
      • Moto Maji in Africa
      • Dabu in Micronesia
      • Forza in Tocantins
      • Enil Edam in Caramoan
      • Huyopa in San Juan Del Sur
  • The last green merged tribe was Huyopa in San Juan del Sur.
    • Coincidentally, that season also had a blue pre-merge starting tribe where the buff color was similar to the merged tribe.
  • Gaia is the 6th tribe to start with “G”. The others are as follows:
    • Gitanos in Panama
    • Galu in Samoa
    • Gota in Caramoan
    • Galang in Blood vs. Water
    • Gondol in Kaoh Rong
      • Gaia is the second merged tribe that starts with “G” after Gitanos.
  • The merged tribe has exactly four members from each original starting tribe on it:
    • Baka: Gabler, Jeanine, Owen, Sami
    • Coco: Cassidy, James, Karla, Ryan
    • Vesi: Cody, Dwight, Jesse, Noelle

Immunity Challenge “Eve 6”

  • Neither of the pairs that had 1 man and 1 woman made it to the second round of the challenge.
    • 3 M/M pairs and 1 F/F pair made it to the second round.
  • The final part of the challenge lasted longer than it did in previous seasons.
    • Previous record was 25 minutes, this one lasted almost 37 minutes.
  • Gabler has been immune for all three tribal councils he attended this season.
    • Episode 1: he had his hidden immunity idol.
    • Episode 6: he was on the winning team for te “earn the merge” challenge.
    • Episode 7: he won individual immunity.
  • The water bucket portion of the challenge was previously used in Philippines, Blood vs. Water, and Worlds Apart.
    • Coincidentally, Philippines and Worlds Apart had the same starting tribe colors as Survivor 43.
  • This is the first time this challenge has been done in a season set in Fiji.
    • Previously it’s been done in seasons set in the Philippines and Nicaragua.
  • Gabler is the first man to win this challenge as a solo win.
    • Carter & Denise won in Philippines
    • Monica won in Blood vs. Water
    • Carolyn & Mike won in Worlds Apart
  • Mike Skupin is the only Mike to compete in this challenge and lose.

The Summit

  • This is the first odd numbered episode this season without a visit to The Summit.


  • James is the fourth player to receive the Knowledge is Power advantage.
    • This is the first season where two separate people have been in possession of it.


  • Jeanine had the most confessionals this episode with 6.
  • Cassidy, Karla, and Ryan had 0 confessionals this episode.
    • James is the only player from Coco to have confessionals this episode.
  • Cody has the most confessionals with 33.
  • Ryan has the least confessionals with 11.

Tribal Council

  • Dwight was voted out 7-3-2.
    • The only other 7-3-2 vote in Survivor was when John was voted out in David vs. Goliath.
      • Two idols were played at that tribal council, negating all but the 3 votes for John, making Dwight’s vote out the only official 7-3-2 vote in Survivor.
  • Both Dwight and Elie were voted out with 7 votes against them.
  • Dwight is the 21st player voted out with an idol. The others are as follows:
    • James Clement (2 idols) in China
    • Jason Siska & Ozzy Lusth in Micronesia
    • Brendan Synott in Tocantins
    • Erik Cardona in Samoa
    • Andrea Boehlke in Caramoan
    • Garrett Adelstein in Cagayan
    • Jon Misch & John Rocker in San Juan del Sur
    • Scot Pollard in Kaoh Rong
    • JT Thomas in Game Changers
    • Chris Noble in Ghost Island
    • Kelley Wentworth & Aubry Bracco in Edge of Extinction
    • Kellee Kim (2 idols), Vince Moua, & Chelsea Walker in Island of the Idols
    • Sophie Clarke in Winners at War
    • Naseer Muttalif & Shan Smith in Survivor 41.
      • Brad Reese was voted out with an idol in Survivor 41, but it was never activated.
  • Dwight is the fourth person voted out with a hidden immunity idol that was given to him by someone else.
    • Andrea in Caramoan was voted out with an idol given to her by Erik.
    • James in China was voted out with an idol given to him by Todd.
    • Scot in Kaoh Rong was voted out with an idol given to him by Kyle.
  • Dwight is the 19th player voted out on day 14.
    • Lydia Meredith in Survivor 42 was the most recent.
    • Blake Towsley in Guatemala was the first.
  • Dwight is the first player from Vesi to be voted out since Nneka in episode 3.
    • Nobody from Coco has been voted out in the “merged” portion of the game.
  • This was the first episode that Cassidy was eligible to receive votes but didn’t receive a vote against her.
    • She got votes in episodes 4-6.
  • This is the first episode this season where no women received votes.
  • Gabler is the only player who voted for Elie in the last episode and didn’t vote for Dwight in this episode.
    • Dwight also voted for Elie in the last episode but couldn’t vote for himself.
  • This week was Jeanine’s first time voting since episode 1.
  • This is the longest a season has progressed without the Shot in the Dark being used.
    • Season 41: Sydney used it in episode 7.
    • Season 42: Zach used it in episode 1.
  • All three players to receive votes in this episode were Black men.
  • James only received votes from Baka members in the previous episode and only from Vesi members in this episode.
    • He’s never received a vote against him from a Coco member.
    • Both players that were eliminated in the merge portion voted against James.
  • James received two votes in both merge episodes.
  • Sami is the only Baka member to not vote for Ryan this episode.
  • All Coco members voted for Dwight.
  • Karla is the only player from Coco to not receive any votes yet this season.
  • Jesse is the only player from Vesi to not receive any votes yet this season.
  • Dwight is the 12th one-time player to make it past the pre-merge portion of the game but not be on the jury. The others are as follows:
    • Gretchen Cordy in Borneo
    • Clarence Black in Africa
    • Roger Sexton in The Amazon
    • Rory Freeman in Vanuatu

Episode Title

  • The episode title “Bull in a China Shop” was said by Owen when talking about having to deal with Gabler.
    • This is his second episode title this season.

  1. Gabler was not immune in episode 1, because he held his idol. If he had received votes, they would have counted, and he could have been voted out.

    • I mentioned it last week. Julie McGee from San Juan del Sur was included as well. Also Neal from Kaoh Rong (removed from the jury with Michele’s twist) and Dan in Island of the Idols (ejected for being a creep)
