Each week Inside Survivor contributor Rob Brodeur will be collecting various Survivor-related statistics and information based off the latest episode of Survivor 43.


  • This is the third season to do the “earn the merge” twist, but the first season to not include the hourglass twist.
  • All three players in the “new era” to make it past the pre-merge portion but not make the merge are women.
    • Sydney in 41
    • Lydia in 42
    • Elie in 43
  • Elie is the first person in the “new era” to make it past the pre-merge phase but not ever wear the merge buff.
    • Sydney and Lydia initially won the “earn the merge” challenge, but their wins were negated by the hourglass twist.

The Summit

  • Only odd numbered episodes so far have had a trip to the summit.
  • Cassidy, Cody, Ryan, and Sami are the only players to make it to the merge and not yet attend the summit.
  • All three Vesi members who attended a pre-merge summit risked their vote.
  • Both Coco members who attended a pre-merge summit didn’t risk their vote.
  • Owen is the only Baka member who attended a pre-merge summit and didn’t risk his vote.
  • Geo is the only player to attend the summit pre-merge and not make it to the merge.
    • Dwight, James, Jeanine, Jesse, Karla, Mike, Noelle, and Owen all attended the summit and made it to the merge.

Immunity Challenge

  • Every time the “earn the merge” challenge has been done, there’s been a blue team competing.
    • Season 42 is the only time the blue team lost.


  • Elie had the most confessionals this episode with 7.
    • Coincidentally, she also received 7 votes against her at tribal council.
  • Dwight had 0 confessionals this episode.
    • He hasn’t had a confessional since episode 4.
  • Cody is still in the lead for most confessionals with 31.
  • Ryan has the least confessionals with 11.

Tribal Council

  • Elie was voted out 7-2-1-1.
    • This is the first time in Survivor history that there was a 7-2-1-1 vote.
    • She’s the first Baka player voted out since Morriah in episode 1.
  • Jeanine is the highest ranking woman from Baka.
    • Coco is the only starting tribe that has two women left in the game.
  • Every “earn the merge” tribal council had at least three players receive votes.
    • Survivor 41: Deshawn, Evvie, & Sydney received votes.
    • Survivor 42: Jonathan, Lindsay, Lydia, & Maryanne received votes.
    • Survivor 43: Cassidy, Elie, James, & Owen received votes
  • Vesi is the only starting tribe where no players received votes at this tribal council.
    • Owen & Elie from Baka.
    • Cassidy & James from Coco.
  • Cassidy has received a vote at every tribal council she’s attended so far.
    • Noelle is the first woman to vote for Cassidy.
  • Owen has only received votes from women so far.
    • Morriah voted for him in episode 1 and Karla voted for him in this episode.
  • James only received votes from former Baka members.
    • Elie & Owen voted for him.
  • Elie is the first person to be voted out on day 13 since Aubry in Edge of Extinction.
    • Both of them started on a yellow tribe that had four letters in its name.
      • Aubry started on Kama, Elie started on Baka.
  • Cody is the only player from Vesi who wasn’t safe at tribal council.
  • Cody and Sami are the only players that were eligible to receive votes but didn’t.
  • Everyone that’s been voted out so far is standing in the front row in the individual tribe photos.
  • Elie is the 11th one-time player to make it past the pre-merge portion of the game but not be on the jury. The others are as follows:
    • Gretchen Cordy in Borneo
    • Clarence Black in Africa
    • Roger Sexton in Amazon
    • Rory Freeman in Vanuatu
    • Brandon Bellinger in Guatemala
    • Nick Stanbury in Panama
    • Kelly Remington in Worlds Apart
    • Jessica Johnston in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers
    • Sydney Segal in Survivor 41
    • Lydia Meredith in Survivor 42
      • Also worth noting are Joe Dowdle in Tocantins (Medevaced), Julie McGee in San Juan del Sur (quit), Neal Gottlieb in Kaoh Rong (removed from jury due to Michele’s jury removal twist), and Dan Spilo in Island of the Idols (ejected from the game).
  • In the pre-merge portion of the season, no tribe ever went back to tribal council after another tribe went.
    • Baka went to the first tribal council, Vesi went to the next two, and Coco went to the last two tribals.


Episode Title

  • The episode title “Mergatory” was said by Cassidy when discussing her team not being safe at the first merged tribal council.
    • This is the first episode title this season said by a woman.
