Each week Inside Survivor contributor Rob Brodeur will be collecting various Survivor-related statistics and information based off the latest episode of Survivor 41.

Immunity Challenge – “Uncomfortably Numb”

  • This challenge was previously used in San Juan del Sur, Kaoh Rong, and David vs. Goliath.
    • Erika is the first woman to win this challenge.
    • This is the first time this challenge had two winners.
  • This challenge name is based on the song “Comfortably Numb” by Pink Floyd.
  • This was the first time Erika was shown this season drawing a rock that wasn’t grey (and forcing her to sit out of a challenge).
  • The first three people to drop out of the challenge were the last three remaining players in last weeks immunity challenge (Evvie, Heather, & Liana).
    • They dropped in the reverse order of their placement last week.
  • At least one person from each starting tribe has won individual immunity so far.
    • Luvu: Erika.
    • Ua: Ricard.
    • Yase: Evvie & Xander.
  • Danny, DeShawn, and Evvie have won all three post-merge reward challenges.
  • Erika has won a challenge in every episode where she’s participated in a challenge.
    • Episodes 1-5 Luvu won all immunity challenges.
    • Episode 6: She wasn’t chosen for a team for the challenge.
    • Episode 7: She used the hourglass twist and was safe so she didn’t participate in the immunity challenge.
    • Episode 8: She was on the team that won the reward challenge.
    • Episode 9: She won the immunity challenge.

Season/Twists/Advantages

  • This is the 6th season to have a double elimination twist.
    • Cook Islands episode 10: Rebecca and Jenny were voted out.
    • Redemption Island episode 11: Ralph & Steve were voted out.
    • South Pacific episode 10: Dawn & Whitney were voted out.
    • Ghost Island episode 10: Jenna & Michael were voted out.
    • Island of the Idols episode 9: Aaron & Missy were voted out.
      • Every time this twist happened it was in episode 9, 10, or 11.
      • All players voted out finished in 9th-11th place in their season.
  • This was the first time that the twist was done post-merge where the players voted out were from different starting tribes.
    • Cook Islands: Pre-merge vote.
    • Redemption Island: Ralph & Steve were from Zapatera.
    • South Pacific: Dawn & Whitney were from Savaii.
    • Ghost Island:Jenna & Michael were from Malolo.
    • Island of the Idols: Aaron & Missy were from Lairo.
    • Survivor 41: Naseer was from Luvu and Evvie was from Yase.
  • This version of the split tribe voting was previously used in Ghost Island and Island of the Idols.
    • Both times at least one of the tribal councils had a vote where the person voted out received 3 votes.
      • Ghost Island: Jenna had 3 votes against her and was voted out, and Michael received 3 votes against him during the revote and was voted out.
      • Island of the Idols: Missy received 3 votes against her and was voted out.
      • Survivor 41: Naseer received 3 votes against him at the first vote, then received 4 votes against him during the revote and was voted out. Evvie also received 3 votes against them and was voted out.
    • Aaron is the only player voted out unanimously during this version of the twist.
  • A similar twist happened in Fiji where the merged tribe was split, but one team won immunity and only the losing team had to vote someone out.
  • Xander is the only remaining player with an extra vote.
  • Both extra votes have been played this season in odd numbered episodes (7 & 9).
  • This is the second season to have both a double tribal council and double elimination.
    • Cook Islands: Episode 6 had a double tribal and episode 10 had a double elimination.
      • Double tribal council: Two tribes lose a member.
      • Double elimination: Two tribes lose two members.

Tribal Council #1

  • Naseer was voted out 4-0 after a 3-3 tie forced a revote.
    • This was the first tied vote this season.
  • There were no Yase members at this tribal council.
  • Naseer is the first man voted out since JD in episode 4.
  • Naseer is the 19th player voted out with an idol. The others are as follows:
    • James Clement (2 idols) in China.
    • Jason Siska & Ozzy Lusth in Micronesia.
    • Brendan Synott in Tocantins.
    • Erik Cardona in Samoa.
    • Andrea Boehlke in Caramoan.
    • Garrett Adelstein in Cagayan.
    • Jon Misch & John Rocker in San Juan del Sur.
    • Scot Pollard in Kaoh Rong.
    • JT Thomas in Game Changers.
    • Chris Noble in Ghost Island.
    • Kelley Wentworth & Aubry Bracco in Edge of Extinction.
    • Kellee Kim (2 idols), Vince Moua, & Chelsea Walker in Island of the Idols.
    • Sophie Clarke in Winners at War.
      • Brad Reese was voted out with an idol this season, but it was never activated.
  • Naseer is the first Luvu male to be voted out.
  • Shan is the 7th player to use an extra vote advantage.
    • She is the first player to use her extra vote to vote for two different people.
    • She’s also the first player to successfully use the extra vote to get rid of her main target.
  • This is the second time an extra vote advantage was used during a tied vote.
    • The first time was in episode 10 of Ghost Island.
      • Both of these tribals happened in double elimination episodes.
  • Naseer is the fourth player to be voted on day 17.
    • The first was Chet Welch in Micronesia.
      • The first player eliminated on day 17 was Mike Skupin in The Australian Outback when he was medevaced.

Tribal Council #2

  • Evvie was voted out 3-2.
  • Evvie received votes at both post-merge tribal councils that they were vulnerable at.
  • This was the first episode this season where Danny successfully voted someone out.
  • There were no Ua members at this tribal council.
  • Both vulnerable Yase members received votes at this tribal.
  • Liana has voted out every one of her original tribe members except for Xander.
  • Ricard is the only LGBTQ+ player left in the game.
  • Everyone on Yase has now received at least 2 votes.
  • Danny, Erika, and Shan are the only players left without any votes against them.
  • Erika, Heather, Liana, Ricard*, and Shan* have perfect voting records this season.
    • *Ricard voted for Heather at the initial vote this episode but voted for Naseer on the revote.
    • *Shan split her vote between Naseer and Heather, and voted for Naseer on the revote.
  • Both players voted out this week were in the majority with their original tribes at tribal.
    • Tribal 1
      • Luvu: Naseer, Erika, & Heather.
      • Ua: Ricard & Shan.
    • Tribal 2
      • Yase: Evvie, Liana, & Xander
      • Luvu: Danny & Deshawn
  • This is the first time that two people have been voted out on day 17.
  • Evvie is the fifth person to be voted out on day 17.
    • The most recent person voted out on day 17 was Lyrsa Torres, coincidentally also an LGBTQ+ player from Massachusetts.
    • They were both voted out with three votes against them, where one vote came from a member of their starting tribe (Nick for Lyrsa and Liana for Evvie) and two players from an opposing starting tribe (Mike & Angelina for Lyrsa and Danny & Deshawn for Evvie).
  • There’s an even number of men and women remaining with four apiece.
    • Also each starting tribe has an even number of men and women remaining.
      • Luvu: 2 men (Danny & Deshawn), 2 women (Heather & Erika).
      • Ua: 1 man (Ricard), 1 woman (Shan).
      • Yase: 1 man (Xander), 1 woman (Liana).
  • Liana is the only Yase member to successfully vote someone out in the post-merge.
    • Xander, Tiffany, and Evvie haven’t correctly voted since pre-merge.

Confessionals

  • Xander had the most confessionals this episode with 6.
  • Danny and Naseer had the least amount of confessionals with 1 each.
  • Shan still has the highest confessional count this season with 46.
  • Heather has the lowest with 6.
    • This was the first time Heather had confessionals in two episodes in a row.
  • This is the first episode since the premiere when everyone had at least 1 confessional.

Ratings

Episode Title

  • The episode title “Who’s Who in the Zoo” was said by DeShawn at tribal council when discussing how he thinks people will vote and who is going to be voting with who.

  1. Didn’t Ricard not vote correctly at the Tribal Council where Sydney was eliminated, meaning he does not have a perfect voting record?
