Each week Inside Survivor contributor Rob Brodeur will be collecting various Survivor-related statistics and information based off the latest episode of Survivor 41.
Reward/Immunity Challenge – ”The Game is Afoot”
- Ricard won the first individual immunity challenge this season.
- Ricard is the first LGBTQ+ player since Missy Byrd in Island of the Idols to win individual immunity.
- He’s the first LGBTQ+ man to win individual immunity since Mike White in David vs. Goliath.
- Ricard is the only player to have immunity in both of the merge twist episodes.
- This challenge was previously used in San Juan del Sur, Cambodia, and Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers.
- It’s been won by an even amount of men and women.
- Baylor, Spencer, Lauren, and Ricard won this challenge.
Season/Merge
- Luvu is the second starting tribe since Tandang in Philippines to make it to the merge portion of the game without losing any members.
- All members of Luvu join the following players who made it to the merge without going to a pre-merge tribal council:
- The Tandang tribe – Philippines
- Keith & Joe – Cambodia
- Michele & Nick – Kaoh Rong
- Cirie Fields – Game Changers
- Mike, Cole, Jessica – Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers
- Chris Noble – Ghost Island
- Joe, Julia, Aurora, Ron, Julie – Edge of Extinction
- Ua is the second starting tribe to have only two members make it to the merged tribe after Matsing in Philippines.
- Coincidentally, both Philippines and Survivor 41 had a tribe (Tandang & Luvu) that made it to the merge with all members intact.
- This is the first season to start the merge portion of the game with 12 players since Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers.
- Both seasons started with 18 castaways divided into 3 tribes.
- This season has the earliest merge day at day 14.
- The previous earliest day was 16 in Panama and San Juan del Sur.
Advantage/Twists
- Sydney is the first person to use the Shot in the Dark.
- She didn’t receive safety.
- Liana used her Knowledge is Power advantage but didn’t correctly guess who had the idol.
- Deshawn used his extra vote at tribal council and voted for Evvie twice.
- He’s the 6th player to use the extra vote advantage.
- All six uses of the extra vote advantage didn’t affect the outcome of tribal council.
- Every time the extra vote has been used, it was used to vote for the same person twice.
- All three advantages played in this episode were unsuccessful.
Tribal Council
- Sydney was voted out 5-4-3.
- Sydney is the first player in Survivor to be voted out in a 5-4-3 vote.
- She was voted out with a plurality of votes (the percentage of votes against her was less than 50%).
- This previously happened at the first merge vote in the following seasons:
- Borneo – Gretchen was voted out 4-1-1-1-1-1-1.
- Tocantins – Brendan was voted out 4-3-2.
- Cambodia – Kass was voted out 6-4-2-1.
- Edge of Extinction – Joe was voted out 6-3-2-2.
- This previously happened at the first merge vote in the following seasons:
- This is only the second tribal council this season where more than two people received votes.
- In episode 1, Brad, Sara, and Ricard received votes.
- Despite the fact that Sydney couldn’t vote, there were still 12 votes cast this episode as Deshawn used his extra vote.
- Sydney is the 18th player to be voted out on Day 14.
- Rob Mariano in Winners at War was the most recent.
- Blake Towsley in Guatemala was the first.
- Sydney is the first Luvu player to be voted out.
- The last time a tribe made it to the merge portion of the game intact (Tandang in Philippines) the first player voted out was from that tribe (RC).
- Sydney from Luvu had the same thing happen this season.
- The last time a tribe made it to the merge portion of the game intact (Tandang in Philippines) the first player voted out was from that tribe (RC).
- Sydney is the first castaway in the history of Survivor to attend a tribal council but never cast a vote, including a jury vote.
- This is because she didn’t go to tribal pre-merge, unsuccessfully played her shot in the dark at the first merge vote, and didn’t make it to the jury phase.
- Sydney is the second player to get voted out without casting a vote at tribal council.
- The first was Chris Noble in Ghost Island.
- Sydney is the 5th person to be voted out during a tribal where she couldn’t vote. The others are as follows:
-

- Sydney is the 17th woman to be voted out at the first merged tribal council.
- Sydney is the first player since Jessica Johnston in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers to make the merge portion of the game but not the jury.
- Sydney received at least one vote from a player on every starting tribe.
- Luvu: Erika, Heather, & Naseer
- Ua: Shan
- Yase: Liana
- Sydney is the 9th one-time player to make it to the merged portion of the game but not be on the jury. The others are as follows:
- Gretchen Cordy in Borneo
- Clarence Black in Africa
- Roger Sexton in Amazon
- Rory Freeman in Vanuatu
- Brandon Bellinger in Guatemala
- Nick Stanbury in Panama
- Kelly Remington in Worlds Apart
- Jessica Johnston in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers
- Also worth noting are Joe Dowdle in Tocantins (medevaced), Julie McGee in San Juan del Sur (quit), Neal Gottlieb in Kaoh Rong (removed from jury due to Michele’s jury removal twist), and Dan Spilo in Island of the Idols (ejected from the game).
- Everyone named Sydney/Cydney who played Survivor was voted out in the 7th episode and/or had 5 votes against them.
- Sydney Wheeler in Tocantins was voted out in episode 7.

Hi, great stats as usual. I always love this feature.
Some possible corrections:
1. For the people going to merge without attending pre-merge tribal councils, I believe Mike, Cole & Jessica never went to TC.
2. Xander doesn’t have perfect voting record as he’s voting for Deshawn this episode.
Edited. Thanks!
Just realized that Kama 5 (Joe, Julia, Aurora, Ron & Julie) also didn’t attend any pre-merge TC. 😀
Added. Thanks!
You wrote “Technically Xander has a perfect voting record, as he voted out Abraham and Sydney, but he didn’t have a vote during the Voce vote out tribal.”
But Xander didn’t vote for Sydney, he voted for Deshawn.
Thanks’ for the write up, some very interesting facts.
Edited. Thanks!!
Xander did not vote for Sydney, I think.
Thanks for the write up! Did Sydney really make it to the “merge portion of the game”? I thought the merge happened only after her vote-out (as mentioned in the Week 7 Dream Tribe Game Scores post)
About the extra votes, Stephen in Cambodia I think he voted for Joe and Abi the episode he went home, But I don’t remember if it was exactly this same advantage.
I believe Stephen had the Steal A Vote.
Yeah Stephen had the steal-a-vote. This is a different advantage than the extra vote.
Sydney is definitely NOT the 9th player to make it to the merge but not serve on the jury. There’s many players missing from this statistic.
Jeff Varner from Australia, Rob Mariano from Marquesas, Roger Sexton (from the Amazon, not Australia), Andrew Savage from Pearl Islands, and Corinne Kaplan from Caramoan.
Just bringing this to your attention, thank you!
9th “one-time player”.
Roger Sexton was booted at the merge without making the jury in The Amazon, not in Australia.
Edited, thanks!
I believe Ricard is also the first deaf contestant to win individual immunity; Christy never won immunity and Nina was voted out pre-merge.
