Australian Survivor 2019 Power Rankings (Round 7)

Former castaways Fenella McGowan and Tess O’Halloran face off!

While the battle between Champions and Contenders is playing out on the islands of Fiji, here on Inside Survivor, an even bigger showdown is taking place. That’s right, Aussie Power Rankings are back, as Fenella McGowan, Tess O’Halloran and Martin Holmes compete for the Inside Survivor Power Rankings crown!

Round 6 is in the books and as always, Tess comes out on top, now leading with 180 points overall. Martin remains in second place, racking up 170 points, but Fenella is now only one point behind on 169 points. Will there be any changes as we head into the final stretch?

RULES

We use the Gordon Holmes format of Power Rankings. Each week the three power rankers create separate rankings based on least likely to most likely to be eliminated. The ranking of the player who is voted out of the next episode will determine the number of points the rankers will earn. For example, if the person you ranked in 1st place is eliminated in the next episode, you will recieve 1 point. If the person you ranked in 20th place is eliminated, you will receive 20 points. At the end of the season, the person with the most points will be named the Australian Survivor Power Rankings Champion.

As Australian Survivor airs multiple episodes per week, the rankings will count for each episode aired that particular week.

1
Luke
F**k it. This is a risky move, but I want to use my lead for some good, and Luke is playing an absolute ripper of a game, so I think it’s time the KOFTJ has a round in top spot. I honestly believe that Luke was pulling most of the strings behind Abbey’s flip last week and that the move worked more in his favour than anyone else’s.
1
Pia
Last week, Pia was blindsided by a vote for what I believe was the first time this season. It's the first time her perception failed her. That said, I expect her to bounce back. She has what I think is one of the most obvious winner edits Survivor has ever seen.
2
Baden
Oof! So I completely got the whole "Daisy is safe" idea wrong last week, but I legitimately think Baeden will be safe this week. There's still the Janine & Harry feud going on, and Abbey flipped on her alleged alliance. Plus his game is considerably quieter (I in no way think the quiet game is of lesser value), and the general consensus is that the quieter games should be dragged to the end. So I think we may just see Baeden in the top two with Pia.
2
Baden
Putting his head down and getting business done. I think a lot of players are looking at Baden as someone they can take to final tribal, but I think they should be careful of his very clear growth arc and the potential for him to tell the jury a cohesive story of his path to the end.
2
Baden
Baden's patience paid off last week and he now finds himself in the majority alliance. I'm not sure how long-lasting this new foursome will be, but even if it does fall apart, I don't see the target landing on Baden.
3
Harry
I'm hoping having Harry here is the gamble that finally sees me move off the last place in these rankings! Haha! Our ice-cream mate is playing a great game so here's hoping I'm right!
3
Pia
If the new four stick together, they will almost certainly target Janine over Pia, and I’d be shocked if they stuck together for two votes to finish the job---especially given how skilled Pia has shown herself to be at reading the game and manoeuvring around people. Her biggest problem could be if Janine takes out Immunity, but even then, I wonder if Abbey would turn back to the girls to take out Harry.
3
Abbey
It was great to see Abbey playing with her head and not her heart last week, however, I think she made the move a little too early (especially given the Exile twist). Blindsiding Simon only served to make her untrustworthy to Janine & Pia, who could very easily be revenge orientated this week. However, my thinking is that the three people ranked below are much bigger targets, therefore Abbey should be safe.
4
Janine
On one hand, I was thinking that Janine could now be dragged to the end because honestly, who in their right mind would give her half a million dollars? However, she does seem to be controlling the Champion votes and control equates to power, and the obvious power players are always a target. So here we are!
4
Abbey
I’ll go on record as hating this move for Abbey. It’s hard for her character type to be both emotionally vulnerable, making close social connections, and also a cutthroat game-changer with agency. I think this flip will be seen as a betrayal at best and at worst as her being pulled across by players who plan to use her. It’s not fair, but that’s Survivor. The perception of loyalty has gotten Abbey to where she is in the game, and I don’t think she could afford to burn that card at this stage.
4
Luke
Luke has played one of the most impressive games in Survivor history, and definitely one of the best returnee games. My worry is that the others are starting to realize that, and as we get closer to the end, there will likely come a time when everyone looks at each other and says, 'We need to dethrone the King before he beats us all.'
5
Luke
I think Luke is playing one of the best games out there, however, it hasn't gone unnoticed, and I dare say everyone is still thinking about when Shaun pointed out no-one will win against him. Which is such a bloody shame because my husband now fist pumps when anything great happens to Luke! My household is very invested in Luke for the win, so fingers crossed I'm wrong!!
5
Harry
Harry could get into a sweet spot as a swing vote, especially if the four plan to split the votes between Janine and Pia in a 2-2-2. He might see this as the moment to turn on Luke, one of probably only two people who would beat him at the end right now… Or, more likely, given his fixation on the Godmother, he’ll take out Janine this round and then the remainder will turn on him.
5
Harry
This feels like deja vu. Based on the previews, I'm expecting the Harry versus Janine showdown to finally reach its conclusion. Harry has the numbers right now, so I think he might come out on top, however, if this is anything like the Shaun v David battle, Dirty Harry could be walking out right after The Godmother.
6
Abbey
OMG Abbey flipped! I'll be honest, I did not see that coming! Good on her!!! But it did put her in a precarious position. I don't see the boys being loyal to her, so she's now an easy target for everyone.
6
Janine
If Janine had not immediately turned on Abbey as her target and instead worked to bring her back into the fold, I might have had her up higher. Abbey genuinely seemed to think they could go back to working together (“I didn’t think it would affect Janine and Pia”!!! What?!) and that her flip was only against Simon. But it looks like Janine might finally let some reactiveness get the better of her, and if she is no longer a workable player for Luke and Abbey, along with Harry’s longstanding fixation with her, it’s hard to see her making it out of this.
6
Janine
That Simon vote rattled Janine for the first time this game. We even saw her trying to sway Harry and believing she could actually trust him. That could be her downfall. Closed for business.

  1. Fenella has it right with Pia’s #WinnersEdit. The editing and focus on Pia this season has been really frustrating for me. They label her as a “smiling assassin” and she gets numerous strategic confessionals and conversation in which she has stated many times about how she is so “dangerous” and going to strike at the right time and make huge moves…. But has Pia lived up to that… like at all?? She really hasn’t done anything BiG MoVeZ yet despite all her talk. So it only strengthens the notion that her one big move has yet to come and we are supposed to reward her heavily for it, as viewers. BUT what about Abbey’s Big move!!? The biggest flip of the game so far and she received very little credit or commendation on her strategic play/move. She seems more like a smiling assassin to me than Pia who has been shoved down our throat.

    yeah nuff said 🙂
btw all of you guys saying Luke has played an amazing game – to a large degree yes, but don’t also forget that he was blindsided a few times by the newbies! even David realised at one tribal there was a blindside happening and Luke kept being oblivious, he lucked out there.
but of course it is still quite a miracle that he is still in the game and if he does get to the end, it’s imo an automatic win – tho Pia could still be a problem for him, she’s been a stellar stealth gamer.
Pia vs Luke WOULD be the perfect epic final I think, tho I think Baden is almost clearly one of the finalists because seen as a “goat” (I don’t think he’s a bad player at all, the problem is that the remaining players are reaaally tough for him to beat)
