Each week here on Inside Survivor we will be running a fan poll to determine the Player of the Week in Survivor South Africa. Readers can vote for the player that impressed them the most with their strategic gameplay, social skills, and overall performance. The poll will close on Wednesday.

In the season premiere of Survivor South Africa: Immunity Island, we saw the elimination of Jason Brookstein, the 27-year-old structural engineering draughtsman from Johannesburg, Gauteng. Despite seeming like a natural fit for life in the jungle, Jason fell victim to a common Survivor mistake of playing too hard, too fast. His assertiveness came across as pushy to his fellow tribemates and ended up putting a target on his own back.

Even though Jason had Diplomatic Immunity, a new advantage that would have allowed him to mutiny to the opposing tribe, he felt safe in his position and chose not to play it. This would end up being costly, as Jason soon found himself being blindsided in a 7-2 vote.

One response to “Player of the Week (Episode 1)”

  1. Renier having a really good and strong, yet a little goofy start. He is already showing great potentials on first episode. taking big part on the Jason blindside, in a hilarious television gold passion. if Renier manage to avoid tripping on risky game play and stumbling on power struggle, he will make it far. I mean, sure he can go tripping and stumbling hard on obstacle runs in the challenges, long as he keeps the wit in tact, then I’m Team Renier.. for now.
