Survivor host Jeff Probst, producer Jeff Wolfe, and Survivor 46 runner-up Charlie Davis meet on the On Fire podcast to discuss the ninth episode of Survivor season 47. Probst reveals whether there is a real possibility in the future where all votes are at risk except for one(!), the difference between a challenge mistake or a challenge malfunction, and if live tribal councils annoy him.
As the audience saw on Wednesday’s episode, 40% of the vote was at risk due to the latest twist. Wolfe challenged Probst as the latter has repeatedly stated the vote in Survivor is sacred and asks Probst whether there is a chance that all players who potentially lose their vote don’t get it back. “100%,” Probst states. “There’s no reason you couldn’t get to a point in Survivor where a single vote could eliminate somebody.” Future players, beware.
Afterwards, Wolfe also asked Probst what constitutes a challenge mistake or malfunction. “It’s always situational,” the host replies as he explains production tests each challenge and considers moments where there could be complications, whether created by the players or by the challenges themselves. In this instance, Sam and Andy had to dig for their bag, and instead, they were pulling it, which made the bag rip. Probst otherwise would’ve intervened if something had broken due to an error in the challenge itself.
Lastly, Probst clarifies that though he doesn’t get annoyed when players start whispering, and in turn, a tribal council becomes live, they don’t get to ignore him questioning them. “I am your biggest fan and ally until you mess with the game. Then, I’m your biggest nightmare, and not answering questions is not an option,” Probst forewarns.
