TVNZ reveals that Seven Sharp reporter Matt Chisholm will host the upcoming New Zealand adaptation of the global hit reality-series.
International adaptations of the Survivor format are all the rage at the minute. In November last year, it was announced that Australian Survivor would be returning down under, and just a few months later, in February 2016, TVNZ revealed that they would be broadcasting the first ever New Zealand version of the adventure game show.
TVNZ recently confirmed that on-screen reporter Matt Chisholm would be taking the reigns of Survivor New Zealand when it begins filming later this year. Chisholm is best known in New Zealand as an upbeat reporter on Seven Sharp; daily current affairs show that also airs on TVNZ.
“I never would have dreamed that I would be part of the Survivor phenomenon,” Chisholm told the press. “I can’t wait to watch the castaways slug it out, in what is one of the hardest reality-show competitions in the world.”
Jeff Latch, TVNZ’s Director of Content, said “Matt has proved himself to be an engaging and intelligent reporter over the years. Couple that with his wicked sense of humor and how he loves to throw himself into any situation, Matt is the perfect host for Survivor New Zealand.”
It is understood that over 8,000 Kiwis applied to be part of the new series. Applications are now closed. There is no word yet on when, or where, the show will be filming.
Survivor New Zealand is set to premiere at a later date on TV2.
