Episode 8 Stats

Rob Brodeur breaks down all the latest stats from the eighth episode!

Each week Inside Survivor contributor Rob Brodeur will be collecting various Survivor related statistics and information based off the latest episode of Survivor: Ghost Island.

Tribal Council

  • Chris was voted out 10-2.
    • Chris is tied with Erik from Samoa, Alina from Nicaragua, and Jonas from One World for most votes cast against a player at tribal council with 10 votes.
      • All four of these players also received their first votes at the tribal council in which they were eliminated.
  • Chris is the first person in Survivor history to attend tribal council and be voted out without ever casting a vote, and also holds the record for lasting the longest time without casting a vote.
    • Jenna Morasca quit in All-Stars before she went to a tribal council.
    • Jonathan and Wanda were eliminated in Palau without voting, but it was a schoolyard pick that sent them home, not a vote.
    • Gary Stritesky quit in Fiji before he went to tribal so he never cast a vote.
    • Kourtney Moon in One World was medically evacuated before she went to tribal so she never cast a vote.
    • Dana Lambert in Philippines quit before she went to tribal so she never cast a vote.
    • Rupert and Candice were both eliminated in Blood vs. Water without going to tribal council, but still participated in the first impressions vote.
  • Chris will be the first person in Survivor history to cast his first and only vote on Day 39 at final tribal council (unless he’s removed from the jury via a twist).
  • Chris joins R.C. Saint-Amour from Philippines, Nick Maiorano from Kaoh Rong, and Jessica Johnston from Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers as the fourth person to make it to the merge, but never survive a tribal council, as all four were the first person to be voted out of the merge tribe and not attend any of the previous tribal councils.
    • Jessica was the only one of these four players that was not on the jury.
      • Also worth noting, Marcus in Gabon was immune up until the episode he was voted out, becoming the first member of the jury, but not a member of the merged tribe.
  • Chris is the second person to start on a purple tribe and be voted out 10-2 while in possession of a hidden immunity idol. The first was Erik Cardona in Samoa.
    • They’re also the only two players to be the first person eliminated from a merge tribe while in possession of a hidden immunity idol.
      • In Tocantins, Brendan had an idol and was the first person voted out of the merged tribe, but Joe was the first person eliminated from the merged tribe by being medically evacuated.
  • Chris is the second person to be the lowest ranking member of two different tribes, as he was the first person voted out of Lavita, and the first Yanuya member to be voted out.
    • The other is R.C. Saint-Amour in Philippines, who was the lowest ranking member of the Tandang tribe and the Dangrayne tribe.
  • Chris was the first Yanuya member to receive votes.
  • This is the first season since Blood vs. Water where the first person eliminated from the merge tribe AND voted out was male.
    • Blood vs. Water – Aras.
    • Cagayan – Sarah.
    • San Juan del Sur – Julie.
    • Worlds Apart – Kelly.
    • Cambodia – Kass.
    • Kaoh Rong –Neal (Medically Evacuated).
    • Millennial vs. Gen X – Michelle.
    • Game Changers – Hali.
    • Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers – Jessica.
  • Chris is tied with Nick from Kaoh Rong for lasting the longest amount of days and being eliminated at his first tribal, with 22 days.
  • This was the first time Libby received more than one vote at a tribal council.
  • At least one Malolo member has received a vote against them at every tribal council so far this season.
  • This is the first time in a green/orange/purple/black tribe season where someone from the purple tribe and/or green tribe was voted out at the first merged tribal council, as Chris was on both Naviti and Yanuya.
    • Sarah was on Aparri (orange tribe) for both phases of the premerge in Cagayan.
    • Michelle was on Vanua (orange tribe) for both phases of the premerge in Millennials vs. Gen X.
  • All three people named Chris that have played Survivor made it to the merge.
    • Chris Daugherty in Vanuatu.
    • Chris Hammons in Millennials vs. Gen X.
    • Chris Noble in Ghost Island.
  • This is the third season in which four people were voted out at the very first tribal they attended.
    • Darnell, Liz, Anna, and Nick in Kaoh Rong.
    • Katrina, Simone, Roark, and Jessica in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers.
    • Gonzalez, Jacob, Morgan, and Chris in Ghost Island.
      • This is, however, the first season with two starting tribes where this happened.

Ghost Island/Advantage

  • Chris was the first person to go to Ghost Island without losing a challenge or being sent by the opposing tribe.
  • This is the first time the legacy advantage has been played at the Final 13 instead of at the Final 6.
    • Both times the legacy advantage was used by a man (Ken in Millennials vs. Gen X, and Dom in Ghost Island), they weren’t in danger of being voted out, as Ken only got one vote and Dom got zero votes, while the time it was used by a woman (Sarah in Game Changers) it saved her from being voted out.
  • Dom was the first person to be in possession of both the legacy advantage and a hidden immunity idol at the same time.
    • He’s the fourth person to be in possession of a hidden immunity idol and an advantage at the same time. The others are as follows:
      • Tai Trang in Kaoh Rong had a hidden immunity idol and the extra vote advantage.
      • Adam Klein in Millennials vs. Gen X had a hidden immunity idol and the reward steal advantage.
      • Lauren Rimmer in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers had a hidden immunity idol and the “save a vote” advantage.

Hidden Immunity Idol

  • Chris received JT’s unused hidden immunity idol from Game Changers while on Ghost Island.
    • Both JT and Chris were voted out while in possession of this idol.
      • Both of them got a majority of the votes, while the only other person that was voted for received two votes (Michaela/Libby).
  • Had Chris played his idol at tribal council, he would have broken Kelley Wentworth’s record from Cambodia for most votes negated with an idol.
    • She negated 9, while he would have negated 10.
  • This was the first time in Survivor history that there were four hidden immunity idols in the game at the same time.
    • Chris, Domenick, Michael, and Wendell all were in possession of idols in this episode.
      • Chris – Ghost Island merge idol (JT’s HII from Game Changers).
      • Domenick – Naviti idol (Andrea’s HII from Caramoan).
      • Michael – Malolo Idol (Jason’s fake idol from Micronesia).
      • Wendell – Yanuya idol (Erik’s immunity necklace from Micronesia).

Confessionals

  • Chris had the most confessionals this episode with 12.
    • This is the highest single episode confessional count so far this season.
  • Angela, Chelsea, Donathan, and Sebastian had 0 confessionals this episode.

Immunity Challenge – “Audio Slave”

  • This challenge was named after an American rock band named Audioslave.
  • The challenge was inspired by the audio technicians holding boom mics above their heads while filming the show.
    • The sound crew got to test this challenge with the Dream Team.
  • This is the third season in a row where a woman won the first individual immunity challenge.
    • Andrea Boehlke in Game Changers.
    • Desi Williams in Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers.
    • Kellyn Bechtold in Ghost Island.
      • This is the first time in Survivor history where three women in a row won the first individual immunity challenge of the season, where there wasn’t a guaranteed female winner (as in a separate immunity necklace for a female winner and male winner).

  1. How many black merge tribes have we had?

Thanks for doing these, I’m such a stats junkie. These are great.

    • Thanks, I appreciate it!
There have been 13 black merged tribes. Only 1 black non-merged tribe (Timbira in Tocantins)
