Each week here on Inside Survivor we will be running a fan poll to determine the Player of the Week in Survivor South Africa. Readers can vote for the player that impressed them the most with their strategic gameplay, social skills, and overall performance. The poll will close on Wednesday.
In the fifteenth episode of Survivor South Africa: Immunity Island, we saw the elimination of 24-year-old creative director and entrepreneur Tyson Zulu. It was an episode that seemed set in stone from the opening moments—Tyson’s only chance of survival was Chappies losing Immunity.
However, Chappies continued his dominating ways, picking up yet another Immunity Challenge victory. This all but sealed Tyson’s fate. As one of the biggest threats in the game, he was the clear target, and there was no way Anela or Nicole would vote against the other.
Tyson’s circumstances were so dire that he had no choice but to appeal to his sworn nemesis, Chappies. Tyson argued that Anela and Nicole have an appealing story having made it to the end despite being in the minority. He also pushed the idea that Anela is a great public speaker and could potentially win over the jury.
While Chappies listened to Tyson’s pitch, it didn’t really change his mind. Chappies was dead-set on voting Tyson out. That was until a Tribal Council bombshell, where Nico revealed that there is still one final Immunity Challenge to come, meaning this season will see a Final 2 rather than a Final 3.
This revelation surprised Chappies, who was now considering changing his vote. He whispered to Nicole that he was thinking of voting for Anela, due to Anela being a bigger challenge threat than Tyson. Nicole didn’t seem to be on board, and so Chappies pulled Tyson aside to let him know he was going to vote for Anela.
Tyson had been given a last-minute lifeline, and yet, he ended up causing his own downfall. While Chappies switched his vote to Anela, Tyson stuck to voting Nicole, meaning that Anela and Nicole’s two votes on Tyson were enough to send him packing. Tyson could have tied things up, but he didn’t trust in Chappies.
The winner of last week’s poll was Chappies with 426 Votes (75.94%).
