Survivor 51

Episode 2 – What We Didn’t See

Mariana Loizaga recaps some unseen moments.

CBS

Survivor 51 has only been on the air for two weeks, and it already shows more promise than more than half of the New Era. It’s been a genuine breath of fresh air so far, and while I don’t want to get my hopes up too much too soon, I am already looking forward to the next episode.

As we saw last week, Savu and Toka competed for reward and immunity, and the Toka tribe won both. With Savu going to Tribal Council, it was clear the majority target was Eric Macksoud. However, Ana Sani went into chaos mode by throwing out several tribemates’ names, then tried to cover her tracks with a mismatched convo about popcorn, only to get blindsided in a 6-2 vote.

In her post-game interviews, Ana delved a little deeper into her decision-making process and what happened afterward. Here are the five most notable tidbits Ana shared about her Survivor 51 game.

First, in an interview for Entertainment Weekly, Ana shared that after Alexis Levine caught her and Carter Krull talking about her, and Ana tried to feign innocence by talking about popcorn, she had a full-on crash-out after Alexis left. Ana added that she was thankful that this moment wasn’t shown on TV.

In the same interview, Ana also revealed that her closest ally all along was Carter, even though we didn’t get to see too much about their relationship. As Ana put it, he was her boy out there and her number one.

Ana also said she struggled after returning home because she felt she couldn’t trust the people around her after being betrayed. After Dalton Ross reassured her that this has happened to other players, regardless of how much time they played Survivor, Ana said it took time to adjust to her former reality.

In an interview for TV Line, Ana was adamant she wasn’t the one who kept throwing names around in the first place. For instance, Ana says Alexis threw Sharonda Cox’s name out first, and the whole popcorn debacle was her effort to save Carter rather than herself, as Carter mentioned Alexis. Regardless, both outcomes cost her the game, as Ana mentioned Kristin Flickinger after losing immunity.

Speaking with Gold Derby, Ana revealed she didn’t use her Shot in the Dark because Carter, Rob Antonson, and Cristian Chavez kept telling her she was safe. She later learned that Carter and Rob were on the outs in her blindside plan and hadn’t lied to her, while Cristian did.
