Next Time On Survivor – Episode 8

Steph Lauw makes her predictions for the next episode!

CBS

Welcome to Season 50’s Next Time On Survivor weekly feature on the Inside Survivor site! If you’re new around here, I’m Steph from sunny, tropical, humid Singapore. This is a tiny space where I give my best attempts at understanding preview trailers and make my predictions for the show’s next episodes.

First, we’re given a glimpse of a scene that happens after tribal council as the players return to camp. Jonathan is glad he got his way and that the votes went according to his goal of getting Dee out. Tiffany, on the other hand, is clearly at the bottom of the tribe. Her closest ally is gone, and she was the backup target of everyone else, getting four votes at tribal council. Tiff has nothing to lose at this point, so I’m excited to see how she attempts to exact her revenge on Coach and Jonathan, as she more or less declared in the previous episode.

In another sneak preview scene, we see Ozzy confessing to Tiffany that he voted for her at the last tribal council. However, he’s quick to blame the move on Coach and assures her that he wants to keep the Dragonslayer comfortable so that he can blindside him later on. In her confessional, Tiffany seems open to working with Ozzy and takes his conversation positively. While I do think Tiffany’s going to join Ozzy’s alliance as a number to take Coach out in the coming episodes, I think she’ll still be seen as a target to vote out if the tribe needs an easy consensus.

Next, Chrissy, Jonathan, and Stephenie are seen solidifying their alliance and discussing their next plans. Stephenie lists the three of them, plus Coach, Joe, Ozzy, and Cirie, forming a seven-person majority out of the remaining 13 players. They also talk about getting rid of the “middle people” while the shot cuts to Emily and Rick, then Christian and Aubry.

I’m a little confused about why these four players are referred to as the “middle people,” though. If the alliance of seven, and I assume Rizo as well, are voting together, and these “middle people” are supposedly playing in between sides, the other side is just… Tiffany. I feel like Cirie, Ozzy, and Rizo are better suited to be called “middle people,” since they are the ones forming relationships with so many other players.

In any case, all these speculative plans will change once “one of the biggest twists ever seen in Survivor history” is revealed. From the looks of it, the players will be dividing into pairs and competing for immunity. The episode title “Double The Fun, Double The Demise” suggests that a pair will be voted out together. With such unpredictability, I think we’ll see some immunity idols being played, perhaps from Ozzy, who knows there’s basically always a target on him.

The episode description also mentions a “theatrical risk taken at tribal council”, which we can only assume refers to the fake immunity idol that Christian and Rick planted episodes ago. I predict that while it gets them through the upcoming vote, it’s going to have greater consequences against them in future episodes.
