Welcome to Season 50’s Next Time On Survivor weekly feature on the Inside Survivor site! If you’re new around here, I’m Steph from sunny, tropical, humid Singapore. This is a tiny space where I give my best attempts at understanding preview trailers and make my predictions for the show’s next episodes.
It’s gonna be a short one this week because I have no idea how to write about a 17-person merge. In terms of episodes, we’re midway through the season, but we’ve never really encountered so many people still left in the game at this stage. It’s going to be really fast-paced from here on as we whittle down the remaining players.
And we should probably expect it in the next episode—Jeff announces at the challenge, “tonight will forever change the game” and “a twist so rare, we call it a blood moon”. As he reveals this in the preview trailers, we can see three different-colored structures behind the players, prepared for the classic individual immunity challenge. I guess that the players will be split into three groups and compete within these groups for immunity. Each group would then vote someone out, making it three eliminations in the next episode. Logistically, this seems more manageable to create smaller voting groups at tribal council.
There’s way too much speculation about what’s to happen with so many unknowns in the air, so I’ll focus my guesses on some narratives I think might play out next week. For starters, I think there will be talks about the boomerang idols, which Aubry, Ozzy, and Rizo are currently holding. As the players unite at the merge, information will be cross-checked and inevitably revealed. I believe more players will learn the full mechanics of the idol, and perhaps the three with the idol will be more likely to play it sooner rather than later if they are suspicious of the players who gifted them the idol.
I think the chatter about Aubry’s idol in particular would be enough cause for players to target her. Given her history in Edge of Extinction, where (spoilers!) she was voted out with an immunity idol, I feel like she’ll likely use it to protect herself, as it doesn’t seem that she has many options going on besides her alliance with Tiffany.
What do you think will happen in Episode 6? Leave your predictions in the comments!
