Next Time On Survivor – Episode 6

Steph Lauw makes her predictions for the next episode!

CBS

Welcome to Season 49’s Next Time On Survivor weekly feature on the Inside Survivor site! If you’re new around here, I’m Steph from sunny, tropical, humid Singapore. This is a tiny space where I give my best attempts at understanding preview trailers and make my predictions for the show’s next episodes.

The tribes are getting swapped again! With 12 people left in the game, we’re getting three tribes of four players each. Looking closely at some of the preview trailers, you can just about make out the new lineup:

  • Hina: MC, Sophi, Rizo, Savannah
  • Kele: Sage, Shannon, Jawan, Steven
  • Uli: Kristina, Alex, Nate, Sophie

It’ll be interesting to see how the players navigate such a small group at this stage, but I expect most will play it safe and stay within their original Uli and original Hina alliances.

As Jawan reveals in the post-tribal council scene, it’s clear that eliminating Jason cemented the “Uli versus Hina war.” This was also anticipated earlier in Episode 5, when Savannah considered that it would send a clear signal to the original Hina players that they have a strong Uli alliance after taking out Matt, then Jason.

However, in the sneak preview, Jawan continues to share, “We’ll be crazy not to look at Sophi,” since she’s not an original Uli and thus “expendable.” This confessional obviously reveals his overconfidence, as Jawan has been at the bottom of the tribe and was already considered as an option to vote out without him knowing. Further, he has incurred the wrath of Savannah, who seems to be controlling the leading alliance. I predict that the original Uli players will cut him off when they get the chance at the merge, but the upcoming swap buys Jawan a few more days.

The preview trailers also expand on the tension between Shannon and Sage. Shannon has gone around the Kele tribe, sharing that she’s willing to vote out Sage, thinking that she’s being strategic in making inroads with the other players. However, it’s clear that Sage is better-liked compared to the socially unaware Shannon. We’re also definitely being nudged to take Sage’s side through her comical expressions that portray her more positively to us.

I predict that the upcoming episode is key for Shannon. If she’s able to survive this new swap with Sage on her tribe, I think she’ll be able to regroup with Rizo, Savannah, and her previous alliance. However, I’m pessimistic about her odds as Episode 5 has really set up her impending downfall.

What do you think will happen in Episode 6? Leave your predictions in the comments!

  1. I agree with a lot of what you say but looking at the tribe with Sage and Shannon, there is also Jawan and Steven there and they look like a solid tribe. But if they lose even if Sage works with Steven to try and clip Shannon. It would be 2-2 and I don’t think Sage would stick her neck out to far here, unless Jawan also flips.

The interesting one albite unlikely would be NuNuHina losing cause while OG Uli has the numbers MC will probably get an Idol. Not sure who MC would vote.

The tribe that looks weekest is NuNuUli, I think Nate would be in danger But i dont think he is leaving yet.

Story wise looks like it will be Kele going. I am fine with Shannon leaving
