Next Time On Survivor – Episode 3

Steph Lauw makes her predictions for the next episode!

CBS

Welcome to Season 48’s Next Time On Survivor weekly feature on the Inside Survivor site! If you’re new around here, I’m Steph from sunny, tropical, humid Singapore. This is a tiny space where I give my best attempts at understanding preview trailers and make my predictions for the show’s next episodes.

In multiple trailers this week, we see Mary hilariously bolting away, and Sai shocked but quickly tailing her. Expectedly, Mary reveals, “My only chance at safety is finding this immunity idol.” Since Sai played the beware advantage idol, we can assume, like Mary, that it’s now rehidden somewhere around Vula’s camp.

Last episode, Mary scraped by even though she lost her vote, and barely recovered from being at the bottom. By the end of the episode, it didn’t seem like she managed to make inroads with the tribe. They merely had other plans not involving her, like getting out bigger threats first. I believe Mary is a safe vote to fall back on if Vula goes to tribal again, so she’ll definitely need the idol to guarantee her safety. Luckily for her, I think she’ll be able to skirt by as the other players on Vula—Cedrek, Justin, Sai—aren’t exactly tight and on the same page all the time.

Next up, we got some small highlights of the Civa tribe. We first see them in the challenge preview blindfolded while completing the course with the players, particularly David, knocking into the obstacles. In another segment, Kamilla reveals, “I have no say in what happens,” perhaps hinting that she’s going to lose her vote and thus have no control if Civa goes to tribal council. Seeing that Civa’s beware advantage has been found and deciphered by Kyle and Kamilla, I think this means she goes on a journey and loses her vote, failing to complete the puzzle.

On the purple Lagi tribe, Thomas tells Star and Bianca, “You unlock the idol, we control the votes,” before giving strong villain vibes with a maniacal cackle in a confessional. Episode 2 left us hanging—Star told almost everyone on Lagi about her beware advantage and sought the help of her tribemates to solve the cipher. However, Thomas was thinking about sabotaging her, toying with the idea of misplacing the cipher or at least not helping her to solve it.

Safe to say, Star is near the bottom of the Lagi tribe. She thinks she has a solid alliance, but she’s not aware of the other relationships in her tribe and how some others are plotting against her. So far, the California Girls alliance comprising Shauhin, Joe, and Thomas have been positioned more positively. As such, I don’t think Star is going to get the help she hopes to receive.

Finally, the last portion of the trailer features Jeff declaring, “This is a historic moment. One of the craziest tribals ever.” We know he often exaggerates with hyperboles, so next week’s episode might not actually be that crazy, but we should be expecting something relatively unique, at least for it to be deemed “historic.”

Given the lineup of players left on each tribe, I can see Vula losing the challenge once again, as they’re just not physically stacked like the other two tribes. This four-player tribal council leaves little room to hide and the potential for advantages to really sway the game. My guess to justify the “crazy” tribal council is that more than one advantage is played in this tiny group of four, leading to someone unexpected like Cedrek, who seems to be in a safe spot, being voted out in the next episode.

  1. I think it is going to be something like green loses the immunity, Justin loses his vote. Mary finds and plays an idol, and Sai uses shot in the dark successfully. And Cedrek voted for Mary but it doesn’t count and since Justin has no vote and Cedrek can’t vote him self Justin leaves. That is pretty rare or maybe 3 people use shot in the dark.
