Next Time On Survivor – Finale

Steph Lauw makes her predictions for the season finale.

CBS

Welcome to Season 47’s Next Time On Survivor weekly feature on the Inside Survivor site! If you’re new around here, I’m Steph from sunny, tropical, humid Singapore. This is a tiny space where I give my best attempts at understanding preview trailers and make my predictions for the show’s next episodes.

We’re at the final episode of the season! Just one final immunity challenge away until the fire-making challenge. Only four player are left in the game—Teeny, Sam, Rachel, and Sue. The NTOS and promo trailers, unfortunately, don’t reveal much. We are reminded of the usual upcoming happenings—who the final four players are and that the jury of eliminated players will be casting their vote for the season’s winner.

Despite the lack of new insights in the previews, I think we can quite safely predict what will happen in the next episode. Part one of the finale last week definitely gave us a rough idea of what the end game’s going to look like.

So here are my predictions: First, I think we’ll see Teeny attempting and losing the final four fire-making challenge. We’ve gotten hints of this as she anticipates herself losing the challenge, confidently projecting how Rachel needs to be voted out because she’ll make fire faster than Teeny can. Unfortunately for her, even though she’s done her research and prep, Teeny hasn’t been able to translate them to a non-theoretical command this season. Thus, I think this will be yet another instance of Teeny accurately foreseeing what will happen.

That leaves Sam, Rachel, and Sue in the final three. Especially after last episode’s stellar showing, it’s difficult for me to believe anyone other than Rachel is winning Season 47. She’s been openly regarded as a threat to win by both players still in the game and on the jury and has a string of strategic moves to back her case. On top of these, I feel like she’s most likely to win the final immunity, given her successful history with three wins so far.

If Rachel reaches the final tribal council, I believe she’ll be able to carefully articulate her game and even reveal some secrets she’s been keeping to herself—like her strategy of playing her shot-in-the-dark advantage to gauge whether she was in danger and the full story of how she found her hidden immunity idol.

As for Sam and Sue, I predict that Sam will come in runner-up after getting some votes from perhaps Genevieve and Sierra. I think he’s played a decent game running the Gata tribe during the pre-merge and making moves from the bottom over the last few episodes. And unfortunately for Sue, I think her loyal game wouldn’t be enough for a new era jury—maybe she’ll get a vote or two from her closest allies, but I don’t have high hopes for her.

  1. While I am rooting for Sam, I think the scenario you laid out might be the best I can hope for. I’m worried that Sam might go in 4th cause he’ll want to go into fire against Rachel. And I think Rachel is winning. So you think it will be a 4-2-2 vote? I think it will be 7-2-0 with Sierra and Sol voting Sam.

Not sure if you read the comments but I wanted to say that I love these articles and appreciate you doing them. Thank you

  2. I absolutely love survivor and I won’t mind Sue winning. Rachel is a true competitor and she has played her ga.e hard. Unstoppable! Sam he is okay, he seems to be too lazy compared to the other two. However if they keep their promise the finalist will be all women and I’m thrilled for that. Teeny is cool but she just brings drama, not a lot of effort.
