Next Time On Survivor – Episode 12

Steph Lauw makes her predictions for the next episode!

CBS

Welcome to Season 45’s Next Time On Survivor weekly feature on the Inside Survivor site! If you’re new around here, I’m Steph from sunny, tropical, humid Singapore. This is a tiny space where I give my best attempts at understanding preview trailers and make my predictions for the show’s next episodes.

We’re down to the second to last episode of the season. Coming out of the last tribal council, we finally saw somewhat of a split amongst the dominant Reba 4 alliance. While everyone voted for Julie, Julie played Austin’s immunity idol to save herself and vote Emily out with just her one vote. The aftermath of this is definitely going to be interesting to watch.

In the NTOS trailer, Austin reveals, “This is an absolute disaster. Julie and Drew, they are at war with each other.” Seeing how resolute both Drew and Julie are, I don’t see them reconciling their differences moving forward, especially at such a late stage of the game.

However, the biggest loser at this point is Austin. He probably broke his trust with Julie by voting for her, and likely with Drew as well by revealing the plan to Dee — his misjudgment that caused the whole blindside to unravel. And on top of all these, he flushed out his immunity idol that he could have saved for the final five. We haven’t seen Austin building that much of a relationship with Katurah and Jake, so it seems that the only person he really has left right now is Dee.

Despite their connection, though, I think that Dee is shrewder and more determined than Austin and wouldn’t let their relationship get in the way of her individual game. In the trailer, she says in a confessional, “Dee, you cannot let your emotions get in your way. I am risking a million dollars.”

I predict that it’s going to be a Drew versus Julie vote, forcing Austin and Dee to pick sides as the Reba 4 alliance splits. From what we’ve observed throughout the season, the natural lines are drawn with Austin and Drew on one side and Dee and Julie on the other. In this case, Dee will have to choose between her two closest relationships —Julie or Austin.

The final portion of the NTOS trailer highlights the last remaining non-Reba players. Katurah tells Jake, “Time to blindside somebody,” to which Jake agrees. This is too little too late; they’re in the minority and do not have much power to control voting decisions. At this stage, I think their best bet is for the Reba 4 to go after each other so they can quietly slip through.

Whether commanded by Katurah and Jake or not, my prediction is that this will play out in the next episode. It’s time for the Reba players to cannibalise each other and take seemingly less threatening players like Jake and Katurah to the final tribal council.

To sum up, I feel like we’re going to see a Drew vs. Julie situation in the next episode, forcing Dee and Austin against each other. Katurah and Jake may have some power to choose sides, but their choices are ultimately already narrowed by the Reba players. Ultimately, I think Drew will be voted out, leaving Austin at the bottom of his alliance.

  1. I don’t know if it will work. But Jake and Katurah can mean they want to force a 3 way tie. Like dee/Julie vote Drew. Austin/Drew vote Julie. And Jake/Katurah vote Dee which would give them the majority in the revote. And they can take out who they want. I think ultimately Drew still goes thou. I hope I’m wrong and Dee leaves or even Julie.

  2. Austin made a huge mistake but sharing the blind side of Julie with Dee, and I think his days are numbered. Julie should go all the way, she is great at challenges and the stars have aligned her to cash the million-dollar check

  3. What I would love to see is Austin win immunity and then be able to gain some momentum by using his idol to decide who to keep.

I predict Katurah pulls off a 3-2-1 vote, with Austin voting for Julie, Dee and Julie voting for Drew, and Katurah, Jake, and Drew voting out Dee.

  4. Julie will be voted out…Katurah has been rallying for her out because she know she will win if she reaches the final

  5. Austin made a million $ mistake and Dee kept her eyes on the prize. Next tribal, Dee gets voted out. Who gets the million? Mama Julie
