Next Time On Survivor – Episode 10

Steph Lauw makes her predictions for the next episode!

CBS

Welcome to Season 45’s Next Time On Survivor weekly feature on the Inside Survivor site! If you’re new around here, I’m Steph from sunny, tropical, humid Singapore. This is a tiny space where I give my best attempts at understanding preview trailers and make my predictions for the show’s next episodes.

We’re into the double-digit episodes of the season now, which means we’re nearing the exciting end game of Survivor 45. Episode 10’s NTOS highlights a sprouting plan from Emily as she says, “If we take the shot, we cannot miss” to Bruce. These two haven’t been on the best terms because of Emily’s statement at the marooning in the premiere, so if they’re working together, I’m pretty sure there’s an urgency to get out the Reba 4.

Seeing how the votes have gone in the last few episodes, it’s more and more apparent that Emily is just number five at the bottom of the alliance she has with Reba. Dee, Drew, Julie, and Austin will prioritise each other over everyone else they’re voting with. With Dee and Austin especially close, splitting the alliance will be difficult. I’m sure Emily can get the consensus of Bruce and Jake to vote for the Reba 4, but I’m not sure if she will be able to get the crucial vote from Katurah because of the latter’s distrust in the former Belo players.

My prediction is that in this scene, Emily is hatching a plan with Bruce involving his immunity idol to blindside someone from Reba — perhaps Dee, as she seems to be the person holding the alliance together. It’s a risky plan, as they know about at least one of Austin’s idols, so Emily is probably calculating the odds of Reba playing it to protect themselves. We do see Bruce and Emily fist-bumping in the trailer, showing that the conversation came to an agreement, but I’m highly doubtful of the plan’s success.

We also hear Bruce say, “I tested out my first really big lie.” My first thought was that he lost his vote in some kind of summit journey or another beware advantage, and he has to lie that he can still vote. In this case, I think he has the cushion of his immunity idol to protect himself, and he might play it simply to protect his vulnerability.

Bruce has been a target for a very long time, being a frustrating, unreliable alliance member. However, now I feel like people may start to think he’s an excellent choice to take to the end. There are not many votes left till the final four, so it may be useful to keep him around as a constantly easy vote target or someone to beat in the end.

Jake

The next big portion of the trailer centres on a confrontation between Jake and Drew. Drew plainly asks, “Why me?”, to which Jake smugly replies, “Sucks hearing your name.” And the petty verbal sparring extends to their individual confessionals.

It seems like the Reba 4 caught wind (via Katurah?) that the others plan on targeting Drew, and perhaps it got traced back to Jake, the unbothered king who, at this point, isn’t afraid to throw punches and make a move. On Jake’s end, I predict this smug over-confidence will come back to bite him eventually — he’s burning bridges with people he could potentially still work with and could be voting for him to win should he get to the final tribal council.

On Drew’s part, I’m not surprised by his response. Something about his arrogance since his outright rejection of Brando’s proposition leads me to believe he’s going to get voted out the moment one little thing doesn’t go his or Reba’s way.

Ultimately, my prediction for the next episode is that with Bruce’s immunity idol, the non-Reba players manage to take a shot. The initial target may be Drew, as we see from the trailers, but I can also see the target name switching to any of the other Rebas in order to avoid Reba playing their immunity idol correctly to save one of their numbers.

  1. I think the target will be Dee. Cause Emily wants Dee out to make Drew and Austin closer to her. But Austin plays an idol on her. They vote for Bruce but he idols up. And on the revote. Katurah gets the votes from Reba but the other 4 vote Julie. It is a tie and it goes to rocks and Drew gets rocked out.

Or the simpler way. Jake wins immunity, Reba vote Bruce, idol Dee. But non Reba vote Drew and he goes home.

I think either Drew or Julie go this episode
