According to new reports, CBS is planning to air a new “Survivor-like” reality series featuring celebrity contestants—and Jeff Probst might be on board as executive producer.
As first reported by TMZ, the series is believed to have been filmed in Bocas del Toro, Panama, in September and October, and will feature celebrities including The Bachelor star Colton Underwood, former NBA player Metta World Peace, Full House actress Jodie Sweetin, former NFL linebacker Ray Lewis, Real Housewives of New York alum Eboni K. Williams, and model Paulina Porizkova.
According to Variety, the show is titled Beyond The Edge and produced by Naked and Afraid production company Renegade 83. As far as we’re aware, the show doesn’t have anything to do with Survivor Entertainment Group (SEG), though various crew members who have previously worked on Survivor did work on the series.
However, Deadline reports that Probst is expected to sign on as an executive producer of the show, though nothing has been announced officially as of yet.
It’s no secret that Probst has hoped for a celebrity edition of Survivor in the past. A few years ago, he told Entertainment Weekly‘s Dalton Ross, “I think the only way Celebrity Survivor works is if for some reason there was an event…. – a benefit or something where enough celebrities said, ‘All right, I’ll give you six days.’ And we’ll do six episodes. We’ll vote someone out every night. I think we could do that.”

Details regarding the format of Beyond The Edge remain slim, but TMZ claims it will follow a similar format to Survivor—the contestants will also be playing for a charity of their choice.
CBS has yet to confirm or deny the news.

It’s been done and poorly. Anyone remember “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here”
Hopefully it’s less of a farce than Australian Celebrity Survivor was.
