Australian Survivor Season 3 Power Rankings (Round 9)

Former castaways Sarah Tilleke, Luke Toki and Tess O’Halloran face off!

While the battle between Champions and Contenders is playing out on the islands of Fiji, here on Inside Survivor, an even bigger showdown is taking place. That’s right, Aussie Power Rankings are back, and this time we’re upping the intensity, a Sarah Tilleke, Luke Toki, and Tess O’Halloran compete for the Inside Survivor Power Rankings crown!

There was no change in Round 8 as everyone had Steve ranked last. Therefore, Sarah and Tess remain at the top with 173 points each, while Luke follows closely behind on 171 points. With the endgame in sight, who will claim victory?

Disclaimer: I will be covering again for Luke this week. He sent me his order and I will be writing the comments.

RULES

We use the Gordon Holmes format of Power Rankings. Each week the three power rankers create separate rankings based on least likely to most likely to be eliminated. The ranking of the player who is voted out of the next episode will determine the number of points the rankers will earn. For example, if the person you ranked in 1st place is eliminated in the next episode, you will recieve 1 point. If the person you ranked in 20th place is eliminated, you will receive 20 points. At the end of the season, the person with the most points will be named the Australian Survivor Power Rankings Champion.

As Australian Survivor airs multiple episodes per week, the rankings will count for each episode aired that particular week. Placements are adjusted after each elimination to reflect the amount of players remaining and points are then recalculated.

1
Shonee
Where do I line up to buy that Shonella fragrance? ...If this chick doesn’t make top 3 then call me a monkey's uncle.
1
Brian
This is Martin filling in again for Luke this week, and I get why the King of the Jungle has Brian in first place. He has an idol and seemingly is in control of the majority alliance. However, we've seen three people leave with idols in their possession this season already. Can Brian avoid that fate?
1
Shane
It is getting increasingly hard to ignore the swell of hero music every time Shane touches water. I half expect to hear the symphony fire up when Shane goes to fill her drink bottle. In any case, game-wise, Shane hasn’t been that… well… game ‘wise’. I can’t help thinking this is increasingly protective in a game where big threats (*ahem* and Steve) are dropping like flies. If the remaining Ducks stick together next vote, they’ll surely take out Sharn, and then what - would the girls really stick with Brian to target Shane? Would Brian and Monika really risk keeping Shonella intact to final 4, guaranteeing themselves at best a tie at 4 (could Monika win at fire??) and needing to win out at 3? Seems like the Ducks are going to have to break and that will be an in for national treasure and chief fire-stick-lady Shanebo.
2
Monika
Everybody wants Monika to sit with them at the Tribal Council lunch table and with that Monika is looking at a pretty sweet end spot in this game.
2
Shane
Shane is outnumbered and at risk, but she is scrappy. Also, if things do continue to go the way they've been going, I expect Sharn to be targetted over Shane. Then once Sharn is out of the picture, Shane is a lone number, and therefore less of a threat. She could swim her way into the finals.
2
Shonee
It feels wrong to have Shonella so split in the rankings! There are probably more centimetres between their names in this column than there have been between the girls on-island since merge. Sadly, I think the tribe is starting to wake up to the danger of a power couple, albeit a cute bubbly power couple that are doing a damn good job of dispersing their threat factor even when JLP is shouting about it at tribal. Fenella is the likelier of the two to take the hit, and once she is gone I think we will see a hobbled Shonee benefit from the removal of that threat factor. I just hope that if we do have to see the girls separated, the surviving Shonella will use the chance to both get mad and get even.
3
Sharn
I think Sharn will be the last champ standing from her ‘champ strong’ alliance, a testament to her game and how perfectly she set her self up with that one. Where she goes after that will be the interesting part. I imagine there is a potential route to the end if Sharn partners up with Shon, Mon and/or Fen. With final tribal fast approaching, I’m quietly chanting to myself “Carn Sharn”.
3
Shonee
Shonee has the looming threat of the "power couple" label hanging over her head, but so far it seems to be Fenella taking most of the heat. As with Shane above, if Fenella is taken out, Shonee then becomes less of a threat and could manoeuvre forward.
3
Brian
So, after giving me nothing but bowling ball, hammock hangs and prostate issues for 30-odd days, I’m supposed to be all team Brian now? Like, this guy is the big threat in town because he turned up to the game yesterday? Up until Benji put the fear of God(father Mat) into him, Brian was practically the Monica Culpepper of the season, stubbornly sticking with the chumps and turning away multiple opportunities to make moves. He also ‘masterminded’ voting out the guy who was essentially the Survivor equivalent of a eunuch (voteless Zombie Steve). Even now, Brian turns his nose up at Shane and Sharn’s approaches. Be careful, Brian, turning your back so quickly on these schemers can leave you open to getting bit in the butt, not least by a bitter jury that feels you weren’t ‘playing the game’ (with them that is). I don’t think they liked your little jibe at our national treasure for challenge performance either, and Monika surely didn’t enjoy being dragged into that mess while still smarting from the lost-at-sea challenge incident…
4
Brian
With an idol in his back pocket, Brian is in a really good position to use it to sway the vote to gain a majority going into a final 5. My fingers are crossed that he makes top 3, just don’t be like the men before you Brian and get too cocky with power.
4
Sharn
Now that Steve is gone, Sharn is the number one target on the old Champs alliance, and is in serious danger. But up until now, Sharn has managed to find her way out of a sticky situation, and it wouldn't surprise me if she had one final trick up her sleeve.
4
Monika
Like so many, I am waiting and waiting for savage pageant beast Monika to show up to the party. Tearful apologies to her tribemates after betraying them has been a pretty canny tactic to continually gather information - except that she turns around to us the audience, all of us on the edge of our seats waiting for her to brush away those tears, peel back the mask, and reveal the remorseless face of a game-playing Sarah 2.0, and instead… she is still legit tearing up. We have been granted glimpses of Monika’s game in her voting confessionals - just enough for me to believe the Monika truthers, just a little bit, that this girl is being buried by the edit. Meanwhile, those lost at sea dodo moments are pretty hilarious though.
5
Fenella
Fen seems to be the target the champs are aiming for, though to be honest, I’m not sure why. It seems a little misguided to be putting the heat on Fen, but hey! You do you champs. With final 5 around the corner and ‘power couple’ status jumping up big time on the priority list of things-to-get-rid-of-asap, I can only assume my girl Fen is looking at a spot of trouble this week. Oh no, does this spell Fin for Fen?
5
Monika
Monika has continued to play the middle these past few episodes, even though she has ultimately sided with Brian and Shonella. But will her wishy-washy ways finally catch up to here? We've seen swing votes taken out in the past.
5
Sharn
Sharn didn’t make a lot of friends last week with her self-anointment as ‘the good guys’, but her guilty little chuckle afterward kept me on Team Sharn. Sharn has had the good fortune, or good sense, to maintain relationships across various alliances throughout this game, and has (with the exception of the eventual breakdown with Benji) not allowed voting differences to cause rifts. Hot take: did anyone else wonder if we missed part of the conversation between Monika and Sharn, that ended with her saying that Mon would be 100% with Shane and Sharn? No mention of Steve there, so I wonder if this was talk of ‘life after Steve’? Could we see a Shane/Sharn/Mon future? Shanikarn? Maybe wishful thinking, but a girl can dream.
6
Shane
In the ultimate face-off between Gouldy & Grubby, I think Gouldy is going down. The issue with Shane is that she and the champ squad were so comfortable they didn’t bother building relationships with anyone else, limiting their options..... People! Keep. Your Options. Open! Ps - is it an unpopular opinion that I totally saw where Brian was coming from in that sups awks tribal last week?
6
Fenella
If it is the week when the tables finally turn, then Fenella seems the prime target based on the amount of times we've heard her name these last few episodes. It will be a sad day in the world of Survivor when Shonelle are finally separated.
6
Fenella
Fen’s name is being thrown around more than the word ‘dick’ on old Tendies beach. I have no legitimate theory as to how the vote works this way, but Fenella seems to have become the socially-acceptable name to throw around camp, and that can’t be a comfortable spot for our favourite sass queen. It’s a risk having an ostensibly safe number so low in the rankings here, but I don’t see the Ducks sticking together to four, and I wonder if Fenella is going to take the rebound hit from Brian’s idol.
