Back in March, I revealed here that season 32 of Survivor would include all returning players. However, things were thrown into confusion when production decided they would be airing the upcoming seasons out of order, technically making the already filmed newbie edition Season 32, and the as of yet un-filmed returnee edition Season 31, are you keeping up?
The decision to flip the seasons makes sense from a broadcast point of view, as the upcoming returnee season has a never before seen twist, first revealed here. America will be voting for the 20 former players that they want to see back on the show; the 32 person voting pool includes names such as first ever runner-up Kelly Wiglesworth, Australian Outback’s Jeff Varner, and recent popular players like Spencer Bledsoe (Cagayan) and Shirin Oskooi (Worlds Apart).
CBS officially announced Survivor: Second Chance and the voting pool last week, which looked mightily similar to the list I spoiled here, with fans now able to vote and campaign for their favorites to return. The poll includes two players still competing in the current season but host Jeff Probst has stated that this has no bearing on whether they win or lose, should one of them win Worlds Apart they will then become ineligible for the Second Chance season. The winners of the vote will be officially revealed during the Worlds Apart live finale on May 20th, and those 20 players will then be whisked off to begin filming the season; hence why it will be airing in the fall to capitalize on the hype.
