After cutting down to two episodes last week, it seemed like forever for a new episode to arrive. Alas, here it is, and as the final six players give it their all to make it one more day on Survivor, the chaos and messiness probably won’t stop until the end. Here’s the recap of the latest mayhem of one of Australian Survivor history’s most unhinged yet entertaining seasons.
The Postgraduates alliance are basking in their glory and solidifying their final four plan… with Kate and Morgan right next to them. However, not everyone sings kumbaya, as Myles says that this alliance could still be broken by no one other than himself. Suffice it to say, these words would surprise no one in the audience by now, as the jungle rat wouldn’t be one if he didn’t have a scheme under his sleeve.
Myles solidifies his plan B in targeting Kaelan and wants to recruit Morgan to help him beat Kaelan at the upcoming immunity challenge. Myles also reveals his ideal final three are AJ, Zara, and himself, with Zara ideally winning the last endurance immunity challenge, taking Myles to the final two. He also talks with Zara about cutting Kaelan before he cuts them while also convincing her that it is best to take each other to the end, as AJ, Kaelan, and Kate are social jury threats. In contrast, they’ve played similarly deceitful games and would fare better against each other. For his part, AJ is adamant about keeping Kaelan, as Kaelan would be the person who would win that same challenge for him and take him to the final two.
At the individual immunity challenge, JLP welcomes everyone in as he reveals they will face quite a physical challenge ahead. JLP also tells Kaelan that if he wins immunity again, he will officially break the record for most individual immunities with six. During the challenge, Kaelan practically transforms into Aquaman and outperforms everyone. While Myles gives Kaelan a run for his money at the last portion of the challenge, Kaelan snatches another win and becomes the new immunity record title holder in Australian Survivor.
Back at camp, the Postgraduates celebrate their fellow graduate for his immunity streak, while Kate and Morgan are disappointed to have lost a chance at security. AJ wants to target Morgan, considering that Myles could use Morgan as a goat in the endgame to win the jury over. AJ reveals to Zara and Kaelan that Myles told him he would have no hard feelings if AJ decided to make a big move, and while AJ doesn’t reveal Myles’ idol, he does hint Myles has stopped looking for one. AJ also tries to dissuade the pair from targeting Kate, but Zara and Kalen want Kate to go over Morgan due to being a bigger challenge threat.
Later, AJ tries to talk Kate into voting for her friend and ally, Morgan, to ensure Morgan has the majority of the votes while maintaining his tight hold on his alliance. Kate starts crying at his request as she can’t bring herself to vote for her bestie, and AJ is left fumbling at her reaction. AJ tells Kate she doesn’t have to vote for Morgan if she doesn’t want to but assures her it’s the only way she can stay.
AJ decides to switch tactics to get what he wants, so he appeals to Kaelan to flip his vote from Kate to Morgan. Before AJ speaks, Kaelan recognises Morgan’s importance for Myles and considers this change. As AJ reveals to Kaelan that Myles is after him (AJ doesn’t know this is true but can sense it as he knows Myles), Kaelan decides to go with AJ’s plan to target Morgan. Kaelan expresses that he wishes they had enough numbers to get rid of Myles instead, but AJ is sure they don’t.
Kaelan wants to bring Zara into the new plan, but Zara immediately turns the switch down as she wants Kate out. Zara hints that AJ and Kate are growing closer together, and as Kate is favourable to AJ’s game, AJ is only focused on what’s best for himself rather than on what’s better for their alliance. Zara puts her foot down as well with AJ and tells him she knows why he’s so keen on keeping Kate (as AJ is “all over [Kate] as a rash.”) They keep going back and forth until Zara confesses she’s worried about Kaelan as well, as she knows he could win immunity again and decide to take AJ and Myles to the final three.
Kate is distraught over having to vote for Morgan if she wants to stay in the game. Myles tells Kate that if Kaelan had lost immunity, the day would have turned out differently, but he says he’s open to working with her at the next round, should Kate survive the upcoming vote. Kate and Morgan recognise their shared road in the game is at an end, with Morgan telling Kate to write her name down, as Morgan prefers Kate to win over the other four people left. As a last resort, Kate and Morgan try to convince Kaelan to flip, as he’s repeatedly stated he needs to pull a “big move” for his resume, and this would be the perfect opportunity to exterminate the jungle rat for good.
While at tribal council, Myles “hints” that Kaelan is in danger the minute he loses immunity and that his target is between Kate and Morgan. Kate reinforces that this is the right moment for any Postgraduate to make a move, as they will eventually have to turn against each other. As Kaelan ponders what to do, JLP drops a bombshell and tells the players they will have another shot at getting immunity before the vote.
AJ, Myles, Zara, Kate, and Morgan proceed to compete in another challenge. After a 45-minute endurance battle of pilling tiles on top of each other and them repeatedly falling over, Kate manages to snatch immunity against Zara, as her pile was the highest at the stipulated time mark. As the group walks back into tribal, the jury is elated and proud to see Kate is safe. This moment turns bittersweet for Kate, as she knows Morgan is now more in danger of leaving, especially as Myles says he gave it his all to keep the necklace from them. Just before the vote, Kate asks Zara if she’s willing to go after Myles with them, with an expectant Kaelan looking after them. However, the flip turns into a flop as Morgan is ultimately voted out by a 4-2 against Myles.
As expected, the Postgraduates alliance holds together and is inches away from graduation. However, they still have a few tests left before we see who will ultimately graduate with the Sole Survivor diploma. Kate, the last OG Brawn, is still in the game, and if she manages to win immunity, she could still hinder the alliance’s gameplans, and we could finally get to see the epic AJ vs Myles throwdown we’ve been expecting to see for weeks.
This season’s coming to a close, and with only three episodes left to go, there’s still some manoeuvring left to see who will take the winning crown home. Who will prevail between four OG Brains against one OG Brawn? Let the endgame begin!
