Welcome to Season 50’s Next Time On Survivor weekly feature on the Inside Survivor site! If you’re new around here, I’m Steph from sunny, tropical, humid Singapore. This is a tiny space where I give my best attempts at understanding preview trailers and make my predictions for the show’s next episodes.
The NTOS trailer begins with Rick and Emily discussing their position after last episode’s tribal council. They were the only two players who didn’t join the plan to split votes between Christian and Rick, both voting for Ozzy unsuccessfully. Rick tells Emily, “We’re two psychopaths. We’ve got nothing to lose.” This is quite expected since Rick’s closest ally, Christian, was just voted out, and he doesn’t seem to be aligned with other players, except for maybe Aubry.
The upcoming episode description reveals “one castaway comes clean to the tribe about a previously deceptive move”—this very likely refers to Rick confessing that he doesn’t have a real immunity idol, in an attempt to lower his threat level. While I don’t think he’ll be leaving the game in the next episode, I feel that Rick’s on borrowed time at this post-merge stage of the game. After the stunt he pulled with the pre-planted fake idol at tribal council, he’s always going to be a target that other players can conveniently push to get out for being chaotic.
In the next portion of the NTOS trailer, we see a series of shots showing players throwing out other players’ names. What I found most interesting was Stephenie, with Jonathan standing by her, telling someone off camera, “We’ll get Rizo.” I predict she’s probably talking to Ozzy, as she does not seem close to other players beyond her core alliance of Jonathan and maybe Joe. If this is the case, I think Stephenie’s about to be targeted because Ozzy, Rizo, and Cirie are in a tight alliance that I’m sure Ozzy will prioritise over any relationship with the dwindling alliance of Stephenie and Jonathan.
Finally, a large part of the previews for the next episode features YouTuber Mr. Beast at the Survivor Auction and at tribal council. Prominently highlighted is the “Mr. Beast super beware advantage,” which appears to be an auction item players can bid on. It seems to remain a mystery, revealed only at tribal council, as Mr. Beast is seen carrying it onto the tribal council set.
From the little I know about Mr. Beast, I’m guessing the advantage is some kind of luck-based game, like a significant portion of his challenges. I assume it’s going to be something like the do-or-die twist, where the player risks being eliminated. But since it’s a special amplified advantage this time, the reward might be bigger than just being immune at tribal council.
What do you think will happen in Episode 10? Leave your predictions in the comments!
