Welcome to Season 42’s Next Time On Survivor feature on Inside Survivor! This is a tiny section where I break down the trailers and any other previews and give my personal predictions of the week’s upcoming episode.

We’re nearing the end of the season, with just six players left in the game! As Jonathan laid out in Episode 12’s NTOS trailer, “The Taku four has made it to the final six, but now it’s time to break up.” Indeed, the six remaining players are Jonathan, Maryanne, Omar, Lindsay from Taku, and Mike and Romeo, for Vati and Ika, respectively.

In the trailer, Mike is seen targeting Omar as he says to Maryanne, “Omar’s next!” This surprised me as Omar had just protected Mike from Drea’s Knowledge is Power advantage in the previous episode. Although Omar is now holding onto Mike’s immunity idol, I don’t think he’ll betray Mike by keeping the idol as it isn’t worth the fallout.

However, I wonder if Omar will blindside Mike as he knows Mike can play his idol in either of the next two votes. I wouldn’t be surprised if part of this episode is a choice of Mike versus Omar, seeing how the two probably recognise each other as threats they need to take out to win.

Next, Lindsay has yet another confessional pushing for Jonathan to be voted out, naming him as her “main nemesis.” This has been ongoing for a few episodes now, and I can’t help but think that this Jonathan versus Lindsay pairing and comparison, especially during the challenges, is setting us up for the final four fire-making challenge between the two of them.

For this vote, however, I feel like Lindsay and Jonathan are both safe. Lindsay will likely play her amulet-idol, since it expires at the final six, and probably won’t push hard to get Jonathan out if there are other options that the rest of the players are keener to pursue.

To me, the most engaging part of NTOS is Maryanne’s confessional and conversation with Romeo. With tears, she says, “I’m a real contender, not just a goat to be herded.” It’s a very clear signal that Maryanne is going to orchestrate something this episode and gain some power over the end game of the season. There was also an interesting scene between Maryanne and Romeo in the previous episode where they talk about being safe as the majority alliance formed at the merge was cannibalising themselves.

With her extra vote and an immunity idol that no one knows about, I predict that Maryanne works with Romeo this week to blindside one of the “bigger” players like Mike or Omar. And, just because Survivor loves cognitively pairing heartfelt moments with important outcomes in the game, I do believe Maryanne will be successful in this episode.

I think it’s a little tricky to predict what will happen with all the advantages floating around with only six players left. But to sum up, my guess is that the vote is between Mike and Omar. There may be multiple plans stacked upon each other, but ultimately I think it’ll be Maryanne’s choice, and she may take Mike out to eliminate a perceived social threat and an immunity idol.

  1. I think the choice will be between Omar and Maryanne. Taku loses a member but is it one from the majority from the merge that voted together only once or an outlier
