Survivor South Africa Season 8 Power Rankings (Round 3)

Jacques and Meryl make their Episode 4 predictions.

For the first time ever here on Inside Survivor, we will be bringing you Survivor South Africa Power Rankings. As the battle to outplay and outwit goes down on the Wild Coast of South Africa, another showdown will be taking place right here between two Survivor veterans.

Fighting it out for Power Rankings supremacy are two past Survivor SA castaways, both from Island of Secrets, Jacques Burger and Meryl Szolkeiwicz. Meryl finished in 13th place on Survivor SA, while Jacques made it to 7th place. But who will come out on top in the Power Rankings? Let battle commence!

In Round 2, Jacques ranked Mike in 15th place, earning him 15 points. Meryl, meanwhile, had Mike ranked at 17th, bagging her 17 points and extending her early lead. There’s still a lot of season left to play, however, so let’s see how this week turns out!

RULES

We use the Gordon Holmes format of Power Rankings. Each week the two power rankers create separate rankings based on least likely to most likely to be eliminated. The ranking of the player who is voted out of the next episode will determine the number of points the rankers will earn. For example, if the person you ranked in 1st place is eliminated in the next episode, you will recieve 1 point. If the person you ranked in 20th place is eliminated, you will receive 20 points. At the end of the season, the person with the most points will be named the Power Rankings Champion.

1
Marisha
The same story since episode one. She's a solid challenge asset in a strong tribe. A lot has to go wrong before her name will pop up.
1
Anela
Anela is just becoming one of my favourite players at the moment. He has been able to be the centre part of his different alliances and the comment that Amy made about him being able to sway the tribe is quite telling.
2
Paul
Again, who's going to vote out Paul now? He works hard and has a low threat level. The perfect place to be!
2
Anesu
Anesu has been consistent in her game so far. I love that we were able to see the humane part of her and have insight into her decision-making. She has been one of my favourites pregame already.
3
Santoni
Santoni is making a lot of new friends on her swapped tribe. She's sitting on an idol and she's not coming across as a strategic threat.
3
Kiran
Kiran, like Anesu, has been consistent in keeping his head down and making wise decisions. I look forward to what Tyson, Anesu and he could do together as they have a strong alliance and an idol between them.
4
Renier
He swapped into a majority. Renier also got his way by sending Amy to immunity island. If he can keep calling the shots in a concealed manner, he will get to the merge with a lot of allies.
4
Amy
I am really enjoying Amy. She is calm and straight to the point, she was involved in the conversation with the very first vote, and even though she didn’t get her way, we were able to get insight into how she makes her decisions. She has a secret alliance with Renier which I’m sure will come into play in future episodes as they are now on opposing tribes.
5
Anela
He came into his new tribe short-stacked, yet he quickly created a coalition and voted out a threat. His Futurelife Houdini-moment showed us that he's got the right mixture of trust and deceit to survive this part of the game.
5
Santoni
Santoni, level-headed, playing with her heart and her head. She was able to help secure the idol for her original alliance which is a great asset for her going forward.
6
Tyson
He got an idol handed to him by having the right connections. His "I don't want to be on this tribe" attitude is slightly troublesome for him and his short-swapped alliance. Hopefully, they can use the idol to cause some chaos and flip the power structure.
6
Tyson
Tyson just seems to be the guy who everyone comes to with information. He has successfully found an idol, he has other information about Chappies and he is in a solid alliance.
7
Qiean
Another quiet episode for Qieän. Was in a rough spot pre-swap but this is what her game needed. With a lot of egos and big players this season, the "fly under the radar" strategy might just get her by week after week.
7
Qiean
Qiean has hit the middle ground, which I am really excited about. I really hope that she has some more coming our way as her pregame interview was very promising. I like that she, Thoriso and Dino are in the same tribe and I think there is something big in store for the three of them in the next episode.
8
Shaun
Shaun is another player who welcomed the swap. Making new allies and cementing it with a blindside was a prerequisite for him right now. If he can keep his thoughts to himself for a couple of rounds, other bigger targets are bound to pop up.
8
Renier
Renier is a calculated and very strategic player. He is well connected across the tribes currently and holds good alliances. I think the alliance between him and Amy will go a distance.
9
Francois
Chappies is another individual who made some much-needed allies after losing his right-hand girl. Let's hope it's the start of something big for him. This is part of the game where people will realign their gauges to big threats outside their alliance. Being a physical powerhouse can cause some problems for him if he's not well insulated.
9
Thoriso
Thoriso is just a dream to watch, she speaks her mind and is completely aware of what is going on around her. I love how at ease she is with herself and her observations about other players have been spot-on.
10
Dino
A bit of a cooldown episode for Dino. However, he is still on people's threat radar and we haven't seen him create any "let's go all in" connections so far. There's going to be a moment this season when he needs a co-pilot to watch his six, and won't have any other option than to hit the eject button and leave his game over to the fate of the enemy.
10
Paul
Paul and Chappies were able to secure a better footing in the game, and although he doesn’t seem to be very strategic, he makes up for it by being useful to his tribe.
11
Kiran
Kiran swapped with a minority. However, he has his two closest allies. It will be interesting to see how he navigates this part of the game. Can he create another connection and flip the game or will the Zamba dice be rolled to see the boot order between Kiran, Anesu and Tyson?
11
Dino
I am super glad that Dino was not eliminated in this episode... let me make that clear. He has, however, stuck his head out too far too early. He is fixing his mistakes, and the fact that he, Thoriso and Qiean are in a tribe together seems very promising. I do hope he gets further in the game.
12
Nicole
Although Nicole swapped into a majority, her last conversation with Thoriso was ominous. I can see a scenario where Thoriso flips and ropes in Qieän to vote against the original Zamba crew. If this happens, they will save their tribe's power players for now and focus on an easy vote: Nicole
12
Francois
Chappies is an obvious target for a pre-merge boot, and I do think that he is playing a good game. I love that he has left his old tribal alliance behind and I can also see that he is trying to play a ‘’hero’’ game.
13
Amy
Amy gambled and unfortunately lost. It happens. However, the secret of how Immunity Island works is out. Rather than open up and be honest, we see her going with the "I saw a warning that we might get raided" story. Nobody is going to believe that. I'm scared it will start the narrative amongst the players that she is a strategic and unscrupulous player, something she has done an excellent job of downplaying, until now.
13
Shaun
Shaun has surprised me with how he has been able to turn the tables on his social standing, working his way from the bottom to be in the majority with the latest vote. I initially had him at second place, but based on the previews for the next episode, I have placed him here for insurance.
14
Anesu
Anesu is in a tough spot. If her minority can't flip anyone, the target will most likely end up on her. I don't think her game can afford another secret alliance. If they lose again, I think the time for subterfuge is over. Use Tyson's idol and declare open war.
14
Wardah
Wardah is in a tricky situation. I think that her game is better balanced when she is playing with Anesu, and now she and Carla are at the bottom of their tribe. I sincerely hope that she will be able to find a place within the majority alliance.
15
Wardah
Being in the dark during a blindside is never a good sign. Her closest lifeline, Anesu, is also on another tribe. I see an uphill battle for Wardah if she wants to survive. Perhaps she can do a Dino and call for help at the next immunity challenge.
15
Carla
Carla got way too confident... a successful blindside can do that to you. She is currently at the bottom of her tribe as she has lost her closest ally.
16
Carla
Carla made the classic "The other guys aren't playing this game" blunder. She underestimated her opponents and ended up burying her closest ally. She is, however, a social butterfly, so let's hope she can rope in a loner and acquire a new ride-or-die.
16
Marisha
Marisha has had a few moments that don’t seem to favour her decision-making. She is currently in a good position and in the majority alliance, I just have a feeling that it won’t stay that way. I think something big is coming up for her current tribe and she might lose one of her closest allies.
17
Thoriso
Thoriso is again shown as having no clear allies. Her saving grace could be the Vuna-three scrambling and roping in loose-change players. If she and Qieän accept the invite, they can form a new dominating faction.
17
Nicole
Nicole has been getting some great confessionals and she has been making some keen observations. She is in a majority alliance, but with the idol in play and her not having great relationships with Dino and Thoriso, it might see her gone in the next episode if they go to tribal.
