      • They should get some S&M enthusiasts. Then it could be White Collar vs. Blue Collar vs. Dog Collar!

        • They would be the greatest tribe of all time. Can’t you just picture them, standing on the smallest perch of an endurance challenge. Probst shouting, “you can come down now, you won the challenge 2 hours ago”, and they’re all like, “it’s OK, we’re all good”.

    • Pretty sure that both the age range and diversity here is much wider than that of Big Brother. A fair portion of this cast are also huge fans of Survivor, despite their age (Ali, in particular, had a Survivor-themed birthday party when she was 12, and one of her uncles was an alternate on a previous season). The cast of Survivor has fluctuated in terms of average age over the years, sometimes being very high and sometimes being very low. This one is neither the lowest nor highest average age setting, the diversity has definitely improved (we clearly have more racial minorities competing, which is always a plus in my book, as opposed to the one-per-season “tokens” we used to have here and that Big Brother still has). The only thing about this that seems particularly Big Brother-esque to me is their photos are slightly more glamour-shot style, but that doesn’t even apply to the entire cast, nor does it tell us anything about them other than they have modern cameras and know how to take a selfie (or submitted professionally taken photos, as in Mike’s case obviously). At least you can count on this general cast to not spend every waking moment screaming into a camera about things we just saw happen like they do on Big Brother, that’s Jeff Probst’s job.

  1. Agree with most of those, although Roark is doing a Master’s in social work, so could possibly be Hero or Healer. And Jessica is a nurse so could fit Hero or Hustler.

  2. To sum up

    Levu – Heroes (Blue)
Ashley* (Lifeguard) + Christine + Katrina
Ben* (Marine) + John + African American Guy

    Soko – Healers (Yellow)
Cole + Joe + Mike* (Surgeon)
Desi* (Physical Therapist) + Jessica + Roark

    Yawa – Hustlers (Red)
Ali* (Personal Assistant) + Lauren + Simone
Devon + Patrick + Ryan* (Bellhop)

  3. I’m just happy to see new faces. I didn’t feel too optimistic about MVGX, but it soon became a very entertaining season w/ several worth rooting for and a likable winner. So perhaps this will exceed my expectations as well! But I agree with another commenter (possibly on a different page): please let them do a double elimination pre-jury this season. Over the overstuffed latter end of the season.

  4. Fantastic! I love it when fans compete! They navigate twists instead of being shocked by them, and get excited about playing the game rather than whining about when things don’t get their way (usually). More fans please~

  5. Jeff Probst isn’t hardcore hyping the season yet. So we can safely assume that a female won. My pre-season favorites are Ali, Desi, Ryan, Simone, and Roark. Also, I’m not sure why everyone is freaking out over their ages. We’ve had younger overall casts than this. I’m actually surprised that the youngest ones here are 24, when usually there’s at least ONE player between 18 and 23 (standard college student, or in Will’s case, HS). I think a lot of this cast just looks younger than they are (especially Christine, who could easily pass for being in her late 20s/early 30s). I don’t care what the general age range is as long as the season is fun to watch (as it always is, with Survivor).
